The young lady dressed in the black formal military uniform claps her hands, "Attention everyone, I am Lieutenant Abigale Armitage, your instructor for all things related to Superpowers. Today should have been a theoretical lesson, however, I have received permission from the principle to do it my way. So everyone, gather at the parade square in 120 seconds, this is an order!"
At this moment, Abigale seemingly disappeared from where she was standing as a strong gale of wind brushes by everyone in the lecture hall, sending papers and other lightweight objects flying.
Some of the youths hastily try to recover their belongings, while others left their belongings behind and chased after the tail of Abigale.
Charlotte utilised her superspeed to quickly recover the group's belongings and placed them on the boys' hands before chasing after Abigale. "See' ya gotta go fast! Guys, you better hurry up as well!"
Percy and Evan look at each other before breaking into a sprint towards the parade square. The duo sprints down the hallway and catches up with the leading pack. Every youth in the pack are sprinting with all their might, huffing and puffing, with their arms swinging in full extension.
...
At the parade square, Abigale can be seen counting down with her arms crossed and placing her weight on one foot while tapping with the other. "... 90... 89"
Suddenly, Charlotte appears before Abigale, standing hunched with her hands on her knee, huffing and puffing to catch her breath. Abigale briefly glances at her and continues counting.
"... 20...19"
At this moment, Percy, Evan and the group of youths who chased after Abigale finally arrives. Almost all of them are struggling to catch their breath, while some of the less physically trained youths starting puking into a nearby drain.
The only exception is a dashing young man with a proud bearing, who did not break a sweat nor seems out of breath, standing still, being extremely calm as if he was always standing there.
Evan points toward the dashing young man and wearily said, "Huff... Argh... That guy over there that looks as cool as a cucumber, is the strange roommate I was talking about."
Percy looks toward the direction Evan pointed and notice that the young man seems familiar and realizes that he met him during the climb up the Spiritual Stairway. That young man was the only one aside from Percy who stayed behind while everyone rushed up the stairway and the only one who seemed to had an easy time climbing the steps.
"He seems... Huff... Like and... impressive guy." Percy replies in between breath as he is still struggling from the physical exertion.
"3... 2... 1... 0. We seem to be still short of one person." Abigale calmly states as she scans through the youths, disregarding the struggling youths who had appeared before her.
"Where is the missing recruit!" Abigale questions. The youths look around with confused expression and did not reply.
"Everybody push-up position down! Now!" Abigale commands while her face distorts to one of anger, resembling a demon. As the youths lethargically move into their push-up position.
Abigale continues, "This shall be your first lesson, never leave a man behind! Even if he has died in the line of duty, you have the responsibility to retrieve his body, if not his dog tag! An army is strong not because of an individual, but because we work as a team!"
While the youths continue to hold their push-up position, Abigale points out Percy and instructed, "You, go and find the missing recruit."
"Yes, Madam!" As Percy recovers from his push-up position, Ryker finally appears at the far end of the parade square, still running towards the gathered youths. Huffing and puffing with each step he takes. His face, hair and attire can be seen drenched with sweat.
Percy dashed towards Ryker and supported him back to the group.
"Recover! I hope you recruits have learnt today's lesson. Remember, when on the battlefield, your comrades are your lifeline. Only by working together as a team will you hope to succeed and survive on the battlefield." Abigale educates.
"Now, let us finally begin our first, no second lesson for the day." Abigale smiles sweetly towards the youths, causing the hearts of many young men and even some young women to skip a beat as they wonder how do an angel and a demon coexist within the same being.
Abigale slowly changes her expression to one of tranquillity while placing her right hand behind her back and assumes a combative posture. She then motions toward the crowd with her left hand and said, "All of you, come at me, I will not even use my Superpower. If any of you can force me to use both hands, everyone will be rewarded with 10 merit points."
Percy noted that 10 merit points will be enough to exchange for another opportunity at the Spiritual Stairway, which will allow him to complete the System's second quest and unlock more of its function.
And then, Percy looked around at the crowd and thought to himself that there are over a hundred youths, fighting against one woman. Even if she is a lieutenant of the Arsenal City Army, this should not be too difficult and the reward is probably a planned welcome gift to the recruits.
Hi! Do leave your feedback behind to help me improve. Also, you can support me by adding this to your library and voting for my novel with your power stones. =D
I have made some changes to the young lady that was supposed to be introduced this chapter. She was supposed to be a theory teacher and will perform the duty of info dump about the world and "theory" behind superpowers.
But I thought that the novel would be too boring without action soon. So here she is, ready to kick some ass.
