The night was dark and strong wind was blowing when a woman was carrying a baby in her lap at the bank of the road. Her black clock lurks through her forehead. She was bent down over baby and was saying something to him in pure sadness, her tear fell over his cheeks and her eyes got bigger than usual, and her expression of grave concern. Then she hurriedly rolled her eyes away from the baby. She put him down and turned away "No, No, please mother" Jack was sleep-talking when he woke up in horror, his breath was fast. He slipped out of bed and looked around in the room for a while trying to figure out where he was. Then he went out to get some fresh air. Whenever he dreamed about his mother, he felt suffocating and went out for fresh air which was the reason for most of his night adventures. He often had the same dream and every time he woke up with a fast breath and heart thumping in his ears. He started taking a walk along the road. He felt eyes on him but it was quite dark as moonlight was the only light. He looked back everywhere but there was no movement. When he turned his head, suddenly he saw a light in front of him which was only a few feet away, and then it was gone in a flash. He has never been afraid of these things as in this village he had often noticed them. When he went a few steps further, he saw that beggar-like man who always disappeared at the strange dungeon that Jack visited the other day. Jack wanted to approach him and question him about his disappearance but the man had the speed of light. Jack started to follow him and he did not realize that his speed was also super fast following that man. The man went to the same place that Jack visited the other day. Jack followed him to the place slowly and carefully so as not to get noticed. When he reached the place, the man was nowhere to be found. Jack looked around but it was dark and he couldn't see well but he suspected the man to be present there still so he kept exploring. He turned on his torch and the flash showed him a corner that led down to the basement. He wondered why he didn't notice it the other day. He went to the corner and started taking the steps. He placed his one hand on the wall and felt that the walls here were not empty but carved with some figures. He flashed his torch light on them. Figures were of dragons with the open mouth but instead of fire, the light was coming out of their mouth that led to the group of people who were bowing to the dragon. "welcome son" the man standing at the end of the stairs called Jack. Jack looked at him with a confused expression as he was trying to digest the description of this place. This man was different from the one Jack followed here. This man was clad in white from head to toe with a long robe and a belt at his stomach. Jack kept looking at him and the place where the man was standing but didn't say anything. "don't be alarmed" the man said again "this is where you actually belong " Jack, who walked past him and was trying to investigate the place looked back at him. "who are you and where am I?" he finally asked. The man turned around to go somewhere and gestured for Jack to follow him. Jack went behind him still examining every corner of the place. They opened a big door to the wide hall. Jack followed the man inside and realized that there were other people there. They were about forty to fifty in number and of different heights and clothes. They all stood up when Jack entered and bow their heads in respect. Jack was confused by their behavior and kept following the man in white to the end of the room. Suddenly there was a roar in the hall downstairs and the giant steel door of the room began to close as automated to the sense of danger. Everybody was afraid and began to prepare for the unseen. The man in white also started to head towards the door. When the door was half closed, the man reached in between the door and after scanning the hall turned around "they have intruded our protected wall, get yourself ready for anything possible" the door closed behind him and the roar in the hall continued for a while and then disappeared. The room was filled with pale bright light and Jack noticed that he was also emitting the light. He was even more confused when he remembered that he was covered in the same light one night when he was roaming around in the southern part of the village and he encountered some black shadow. "I am Lucas" the man in white took out his hand to shake with Jack. He noticed the intense desperation of Jack and tried to soothe him. Jack who was focusing on the change in his body and all the other people in the room, turned towards Lucas but did not respond. "and you are Jack, right!, do not be alarmed when I tell you that I know you, I have seen you growing up since your birth" Lucas explained and looked at Jack with the expectation of certain understanding. "are you that .." Jack tried to remember the beggar who was always somewhere near Jack but always disappeared when Jack followed him, "yes, the old beggar" he smiled. Jack had many questions in his mind when a woman came from another door, Jack was stunned to see her, she saw Jack and came running to hug him "my son" she murmured. A tear fell from Jack's eye and he forgot to breathe, then he stepped back pushing the woman away from him, "No, this can't be real, you were dead, he cried and murmured to himself" he kept taking back steps and then he screamed louder "you were dead, my mother was dead, I grew up alone" he said in one breath. Catherine was crying and looking at his son with love and pity while Jack turned around and ran outside. when he came outside, the structure of the dungeon was all destroyed, and the walls were broken, he looked around a few glances and then left the place in a hurry. "watch where you go" he budged into someone on his way back home but he didn't even look up and gestured sorry with his left hand. "he is such a strange guy" Meesha exclaimed while Sara was still staring at Jack disappearing in his house. He came straight to his room slammed the door behind him and fell on his bed, did not even notice that it was early in the morning and uncle James was calling him from behind inquiring about his night adventure. Uncle James was always concerned about him because of his habitual solitude.
