There's an emergency, please come asap

Rain, being her naïve self, did not think much of his whimsical request to address her boss by a nickname. "Okay Kai."

Jay almost could not keep his countenance anymore. He just stared at Rain almost taking her as some mystical being who landed on Earth to challenge his boss's very existence.

While on Elliot's side, when he realized what he just did and wanted to ask Rain to forget about it, he heard her address him as Kai. A sudden surge of satisfactory sensation seemed to subside the previous itchy feeling in her heart. He thought that it was not that bad for her to address him this way. "Good" he said. Just as he was able to say more, his gaze landed on those pair of innocent eyes which lead to the resurgence of that itchy feeling from just now. He then continued "From now on you will be my second personal assistant and will follow me everywhere like Jay does. You will not switch off your phone and I should be able to contact you anytime and you have to be ready to come to me at anytime the need arise, be it at night, Understood?"

"Yes Kai" answered Rain.

Jay finally could not handle this pressure anymore. His mouth was agape as he kept looking back and forth at the two entities in the room thinking, 'Sir! that was not what was decided! Are you trying to replace me now? Didn't you assign me the task to ask miss Erena to handle the desk job because you wanted to make things easier for me? And it was my job to explain her about her work. What happened to you? Are you seriously ill? Do I have to call Dr. Li right now? And what the hell is going on with miss Erena. Who address his boss by a nickname? Didn't she find boss's request to be abnormal? She agreed to it as if it is the most normal thing to do. Or am I the abnormal one here? Arghhh! what on Earth is happening here.' In the short span of five minutes, his entire view about this world crumbled.

Assistant Jay did not know how he answered his boss's following questions and how he managed to get out of that ethereal room. When he regained his senses, he found himself sitting in front of his work desk. It was evening, almost time for the office hours to end. When he looked at his computer screen, he wanted to cry. The monitor displayed that the page had about seventy thousand words and all that was written there was one sentence 'Is the world coming to an end?'.

What was even more heart breaking for him was that his boss actually did not notice his absence at all. On normal days, his boss would have asked him to come over for about fifty times in an hour. But it had been a whole day, and his boss did not call for him even once. 'WHY?' Just as he was mulling over, he saw Rain walk towards his boss's office with a cup of coffee. He sprang towards her.

"Miss Erena." He called which stopped Rain in her tracks. "Boss has special needs for his coffee. He will get angry if it is not up to his liking." He would never tell her that his boss had trust issues and would never eat or drink stuffs from others except from those whom he trusted the most, whose names could be counted in two fingers. Jay was a gentleman and did not want to hurt Rain's feelings. "Also, he has his own set of special cups for it. He always uses that cup. Let me do it" He turned around to get his boss's cup from his usual place after saying this when he stiffened. A sudden realization hit him and he turned back again to face Rain and looked down at the cup in her hands. Horror struck him.

"Th… Thi… This… This… cu.. cup… Where did you get this cup?" he asked aggravatedly.

"Kai gave it to me when he asked me to bring him coffee the first time." Rain said with a poker face.

"The first time? So, this is the second time you are bringing him coffee?" he asked unbelievingly.

"No." Rain said much to Jay's relief which didn't last long. "It's been more than twenty times", Rain continued. "He drinks too much coffee and it's not good for his health. By the way, you should advise him against intaking too much caffeine. Ah.. if you do not have anything important then I will take my leave first or else the coffee will turn cold" saying this Rain stepped ahead leaving a petrified Jay behind.

As if he was not elicited enough for the day, he later realised that a major portion of his job for the day was already completed by Rain as per his boss's orders. "So that's why boss didn't notice my absence the whole day." Wailing silently, he picked up his phone and dialled a number "Hello, Dr. Yang. There's an emergency on boss's side. Please come as soon as possible."
