BATTLE AT THE HORIZON IV

One of the knight guards inquired. Robert leaned in, focusing his gaze. His vision dissected through the crowd and he eventually saw a group of guys camped at the forefront of the crowd, surrounding a miniature bonfire with a pot resting on top of it.

“I recognize them. That is Thomas Milner! The head of the Milner family,”

“Yes, I see him too. It is them. Let us advance and evacuate them before dusk.”

As soon as they emerged from the trees, Garvin picked up on their presence like a dog sniffing out a rabbit inside a hole. He scanned the area and saw them, quietly approaching the camp. He was ready to retaliate were they to be enemies, but once he saw the State guard insignia on Robert’s robe he got up and approached them, tapping the others beside him to wake.

“Are you with the army sent here to evacuate us?”

“Yes, we are.”

Robert answered assertively.

“Where is the rest of the army?”
