Chapter 9: Bridesmaid and "Groomsmaid" (Part 1)

I'm knocking on her door several times. "Sarah." I knocked on the door again until someone unlocked the door. I put my hand inside my pocket. Sarah embrace me.

I did not respond to her embrace until she lets go. "You came!" I can smell strong alcohol. She lets go of her embrace. "Let's we get inside!" She dragged me to get inside of her house. My God. What's wrong with you? Why dirty dishes, lots of shopping bag on the couch, lingerie on the floor, trash, empty bottle, and used syringe everywhere!? Is that really you!?

I keep standing observed her from a far. "I'm… sorry if my house was dirty." You should clean that up! What's wrong with you!? I'm walking towards her and took a deep breath. It's stuffy inside her house.

I'm walking to the window, but she held my hand. "Don't open the window! It's not secure here!" I furrowed my brow. You live alone for the past few years, and the neighborhood of your residence knows you as a doctor. A security guard here always protects your house 24/7.

I took off my suit and put it on the standing lamp. "Let me cleaning it for you, okay?" Sarah stared blankly at the television in front of her. I took a deep breath and start the cleaning, but she slapped my hand.

"Don't touch my stuff! You are just a guest here!" I'm looking into her eyes. She's only wearing a thin white satin robe. She's an addict now!? I'm sitting on the armchair, and observed her. Once she was the most jovial person between us, now looked at her.

I even barely knew her. She's not the Sarah I know. I took a deep breath, trying to be calm and interrogate her. "Are you using drugs, Sarah!?" What should I say to Rose about your condition!? You will become her bridesmaid. The euphoria of the drug was already taking control of her. Instead of answering my question, she keeps sniffs, then drink.

How she gets these drugs!? I'm sitting next to her looking for a clue. Everything she eat was from Nakamura's Cafe nearby her house. I'm not sure that cafe was looks like selling an illegal thing. As far as I know about Nakamura's Cafe is, they are a big one in this city.

They have branches in every corner of this city. How can they sell illegal stuff to their customer!? Did they not get frightened with the police!? She pounds the pill will her black cards until the pill became a powder, then she sniffs it.

I took the plastic bag that contains the pill and observed them. Judging from the reaction she gets, I guess it's pure. "Sarah, where you've got this thing?" Sarah looks at me.

She sits next to me and showed me her naked body. "Why? Are you wanting to join me? This feeling is like I'm inside a nirvana, Lobak! You should try it." I took a deep breath. This is it. I'm off! I grabbed my suit and walked to the door.

When I tried to open the door. It won't budge. A whistle heard and I'm looking at Sarah standing there naked with a bottle of vodka and shows me the key. "Looking for this, handsome!?" She showed me the key. I took a deep breath, cold sweat dripping from my face. I only can pray to God

Sarah keeps walking towards me seductively. When she was already in front of me, she pulled me closer. "Beg for it, Lobak. As you beg to me to let you die!" I took a deep breath. She tried to shove me a bottle of vodka. Nirvana or not, screw that. You high and drunk, bitch.

I pushed her, then pinned her against the door. "Do you think this is will work for me, Aurelia!? Why you did not kill yourself that day!? Why you begged me…"

Someone banging on her door. "Ms. Gabriela. Are you alright!?" Hanks! Thank God he was still there! She trying to free herself from my grip.

"Help me, Hanks! She wants to hurt me!" You… there's no other choice. I hit her nape, and she lay there unconscious. All the vodka spills on the floor as the bottle rolling to the couch. "Ms. Gabriela, are you still there!?"

I gasped for air as I watched Sarah laying there unconscious. Shit. Rose was right, there's something wrong with her. I grabbed the key, covered her body with my suit, then unlocked the door.

I saw Hanks standing in front of me. "Call Danny and Rose." I carried Sarah's body to the car. You will get some help from the professional. I will make sure this won't happen again.

I'm looking at my left. "Lobak! Are you okay!? Hanks said you're in trouble, and…" I embrace her tight and inhale her scent. I let go of my embrace, holding her hand and looking her in the eye.

"Sarah… consume a drug and drinking. She is depressed because of heartbreak. I don't know who influences her to do that, but… I will find out." I sit her in the chair nearby and stroked her hair. "For the meantime, she… can't be your bridesmaid."

Rose leaned her head on my chest. "Who will become the last bridesmaid?" She took a deep breath. "Tomorrow we should go to Jakarta, Lobak. Please cancel all your schedules for tomorrow. I want…"

"I know. You want to meet Jenny, right?" She's nodding her head. I'm holding her tight as we looked at the wide window in front of her. She is now wearing a patient outfit. White with light blue strip. It's a heartbreaking moment for us to look at. She stared at the wall blankly and hugged her knees.

Heartbreak was the most destructive disease we should fight. I might be lose the fights, but now… I found the peace. Rose is the person I will protect for the rest of my life. "The family of Ms. Denada?" A nurse approaching us with a psychiatric on her side.

"We know you are close to her, but you made a better decision, mate. I appreciate your..." I tapped his shoulder and looked at the nurse. It seems like she likes the guy besides me.

"Please take care of her for us." I'm tapping his shoulder, then we leave. It's feels heavy to leave her alone in that room. We have to let the professional help her. This is the only option we have.

"Babe, will you…"

I stopped my step, then pulled her closer. "I will." We stared into each other eyes. Rose embrace me and lets her emotion she holds go. I will found the person who did this to you, Sarah. I will.
