Jensen's departure

"Take this"

I place my mother’s necklace in Jensen’s hand.

“Why are you giving me, mom’s necklace? Don’t tell me you’re using me to sell this? Does mom know?”

I shook my head as my brother blubbers some nonsense things.

“Mom told me to give it to you,” I said then he stared at the necklace.

“Too bad I won’t be seeing mom before I leave”, he smiled bitterly while he slipped the necklace into his pocket

“She’s just busy, don’t worry we’ll visit you there once she got home”

I just hope that I’ll find her faster. I can’t even look at my brother’s eyes with all the lies that I’ve been saying and with compelling him to leave the town for his safety. He double-checked his belongings then he turned to me again.

“Be good to mom while I’m gone, okay? And if you need anything, I’m just one call away.”

He leaned closer to hug and then I bit my lower lip to keep myself from crying. I wrapped my arms around him and buried my face in his shoulder.

“I will be always here for you and I won't think twice coming back here if you need me”

I know, because we swore to love and protect each other forever.

I held him even tighter, and I could feel tears building up in my eyes as he brushed my hair.

"Be careful there okay, message me once you have arrived. "

Finally, I mustered the courage to speak again and even though I don’t want to break away from our embrace, I need to let him go because he might be late for his flight.

I assist him with his luggage, and when we reach the gate, Clark opens the door for Jensen and places his stuff in the trunk.

“Celine, don’t forget the things that I said. Always keep the house clean and do your laundry”

Though it is not that obvious, Jensen is a responsible older brother, he always cleans the house, even our mom’s car, and most of the time he washes the dishes, that’s why we always fight because I’m the complete opposite of him.

He went inside the car and waved at us while Clark started driving. I tried my best to smile as I watch them leave but deep inside my heart is breaking for all the lies and manipulation that we did to him.

“Did we really do the right decision?”, I asked Faira who is beside me while my eyes are fixed on the road.

“I don’t know either but right now what’s important is, Jensen is safe”, Faira answered, and then she tapped my shoulder telling me that she’ll head inside first.

After a few minutes, I went inside too and I found Faira in the kitchen preparing for some food.

“I think it's much better if you’ll stay here at our house for a while since we cast some protection spell here so other supernatural creatures can’t enter.”

I sighed and nodded, indicating that I agree with her because I can’t stay at our house all alone, since I don’t have any idea when the hunter will attack again. Right now, I have so many enemies, and being alone would not be the best option.

“I really don’t get it, why would that vampire blame me”

I’m mundane, and obviously, I am weaker than Jaspher so I don’t know where did he get the idea that I killed him.

“The vampire found out that you and Stefan were looking for his brother, and he also learned what his brother did to the both of you so he must have thought that you guys wanted revenge”

Even though I could kill him, I won’t do it because Jaspher is one of my leads.

"And so? It doesn't mean that I killed his brother! Stefan has a higher chance of killing him, he should be after him, not me.”

Faira looked shocked by what I had said.

"What?"

"Did you just say something bad about Stefan?"

Why is everybody seem so shocked when I am bad-mouthing that vampire?

"Yes!"

Her eyes widen like she couldn’t believe it at all.

"Did you two have a fight? Because this is the first time you said something bad about him, I mean you always defend him. But anyways like what I always say, we don’t need that vampire"

I frowned at her. I don’t think I had lost my mind yet to do that and for goodness’s sake, he fed on me the other night! I can clearly remember those merciless eyes and it scares me to be around him.

But why is there a part of me saying that it is not true?

“Can we not talk about him, please? You know what know maybe I could talk some sense to Jonas. I'll explain to him that I'm innocent "

Faira sighed and gave me a “seriously? -look”

"Jonas is a mad vampire right now, before you could even open your mouth, he had already ripped your heart out"

Faira is right, he's hopeless. While I was thinking of a solution to this problem, Faira got a call, so she stood up to answer her phone. After a while, she came back.

“Herone called and he told us to go to the mayor’s house now because they found out that before Jaspher died, he met the mayor.”

I immediately took my jacket and followed Faira outside.

“How did Herone know that Jaspher met the mayor”

“Well, that’s the thing about werewolves, they are good at tracking and stalking.

Since Clark used their car, we had no choice but to ride the motorcycle, good thing.

We arrived at the same time as Chase at the location. While walking towards Mayor Dela Vega’s house, Chase handed me a crossbow.

"Be careful with that one it has a chemical substance that can put you to sleep"

I took it and Faira courageously opened the door. All of us stayed alert when we enter the mayor’s house. It was quiet like no one is home.

“Heron said that Jaspher handed something to the mayor”, Faira whispered as she checks the surrounding.

“Did he tell you what exactly is it?” Chase asked her but Faira shook her head in response.”

“But I'm sure that I’ll know it, once we saw it”

I guess what she is trying to say is, if something has a supernatural power within it, Faira will know it right away since she is a witch.

We decided to go separate ways because the house is quite big and we don't have a lot of time because anyone could come in at any moment. Faira was assigned to the third floor, Chase to the second floor, and I was left on the first floor. It's strange that the door isn't locked, and the mayor's maid is nowhere to be found.

I went to the kitchen and I was frozen to see a body on the floor. I looked around first to check if someone is here then I ran to the body. I checked her pulse but I could hear or feel anything. I think she’s dead and what surprised me more is when I saw a bite mark on her neck, meaning a vampire had bitten her.

Suddenly I heard a loud noise from the second floor so I immediately took the crossbow and run where the noise came.

"Sorry but I think this isn't your lucky day. That thing is mine"

I heard a familiar voice. I peaked at the room where the voice is coming from and there, I saw Chase lying on the floor and a dagger on his shoulder. I knew he is a bad guy. Since his back is facing me, I took it as an opportunity to shoot him and he groaned when the arrow hit him. Again, I put another arrow on the crossbow and hit both of his legs making him kneel on the floor.

When he started to feel weak, I walked carefully towards them.

Stefan.

He looked at me with those ocean eyes until his eyes are slowly closing then he fell to the ground. I quickly took the small black box in his hand.

"Wow, I didn't expect you'll shoot your friend like that" Chase said then he tapped my shoulder

"You stay here, I’ll head upstairs to check on Faira. Lock the door because Jonas is here.”

Chase left the room leaving me with Stefan who is currently unconscious.

I guess this isn't your lucky day too.

I stared at the black box, curious about what was inside, I opened it and discovered a fancy brooch inside it. It is color silver and it sparkles because of the diamonds, it has pearls as well. This seems very important since both Stefan and Jonas are after this.

I checked on Stefan again to see if he is still unconscious and after being sure, I took the brooch out of the box so I could look at it closely but as soon as I touch it, I felt an excruciating pain in my head then I blacked out.
