Poison

The two of them stared at each other, neither saying anything. Yvie was trying to figure out the impact of what she had just said, with the Lizard trying to figure out what answers was true, and what answers was something it had made up on the spot.

"I didn't know I had poison before you told me" Yvie mumbled, once again feeling a cage of ignorance surrounding her. If the symbols connected to the outside, and those were laced in her poison, then was the entire gate 'dying'?

She couldn't remember if she had ever accidentally bit herself, but shouldn't she be immune to her own poison? Or maybe… Was it new? Something she didn't have all the time?

"Can we find out if the gate itself is poisoned, and if so, if that's what's affecting us?" Yvie asked, as she had a moment of clear thought, unlike the Lizard, who was still trying to figure out the difference between the truths and lies it had spewed out, thinking it might not have been such a good idea to confidently spew out whatever was on it's mind.

"I don't know…" It finally admitted, feeling a tightening in its chest, but also a sense of relief.

"I don't know" It repeated, tasting how the words took off a bit from its load of thoughts.

"What now, then?" Yvie asked, not spending too long on the lack of answers, as she liked making them up as she went anyway.

"Can I bite you?" She teased, mostly saying it for fun, but being ready to do so if she was allowed.

"The poison doesn't work on me" The Lizard said, not entertaining her thoughts.

"We don't know that for sure" Yvie insisted, finding it quite a lot of fun to tease the Lizard, as it took her way too seriously.

"We do" It simply said, closing her down, only sparking even more interest in the thing that started as a joke, but had now become a mission.

"We do not!" Yvie said loud and clear, feeling like her persuasive side was getting developed alongside the argument.

"We don't?" The Lizard asked, finding it hard to keep standing by it's original points, as it didn't quite remember the original argument.

"We don't!" Yvie hurriedly agreed, as she felt so satisfied with winning her first argument, that she too, completely forgot what it was about.

"Anyway, we need to figure out how the poison is affecting this place" She said, starting to go around.

"Where was the door?" She asked, letting her fingers feel along the walls, as she thought the door might still be there, simply hidden away by illusions caused by her poison.

"That way!" The Lizard said, pointing a random way with its tail, as it still wasn't over the habit to simply answer first, think later.

Yvie went the way the Lizard pointed, feeling against the wall there, not being able to feel any difference in the texture. She shook her head, moved on, and looked a bit annoyed at the Lizard, that was still just standing in the middle of the place, doing nothing.

"You could help, you know?" Yvie said, her voice lazed in guilt, as she tried the opposite walls, still with no luck.

A big stone caught her eye, at the end of the wall, reminding her that things wasn't always as they seemed. She had indeed felt her way around, but she hadn't tried to go completely to the side of the walls, as it seemed to be impossible. Even as a snake. But maybe it was exactly because it seemed impossible, she had to do it.

"It's here! The door!" She yelled at the Lizard, who had just been busy doing absolutely nothing, other than pondering about answers to questions it hadn't been asked.

It ran over to her, or at least where her voice came from, as she was no longer to be found.

"Where?" It asked, suddenly feeling questions coming out naturally, as a sense of loneliness attacked it from the shadows.

"Behind the stone" Yvie said as if it was obvious, although she hadn't figured it out until just a second ago either.

The Lizard walked around the stone, still not being able to see any kind of opening. Even at the side of it, there was no way around.

"Where?" It asked again, feeling itself once again getting a tiny bit more used to asking something. Yvie walked out through the stone the next second, lifting up the Lizard.

"Maybe it's only humans that can see it" She muttered, as she showed a tiny crack at the side of the stone, high up on it. Once she touched it, the stone felt like it vanished, though they simply couldnt see it, and on the other side, the door was clear as day.

The rumbling once again made itself known, giving them a clue to hurry once again.

"Where do you think we'll end up this time?" Yvie asked, as she got ready to touch the door. Last time it had led into a weird place where she still assumed the gates were made, and even if that answer was wrong, Yvie was satisfied with it.

"I don't know" The Lizard responded, still not being fully comfortable with this kind of answer, but admitting it was a kind of answer as well.

"Me neither!" Yvie shrieked excited, as she opened the gate. She was filled to the brim with a hunger for knowledge and adventure, with the Lizard finding itself regretting its life choices a little less than before.

However, it soon regretted it even more, as a heavy smoke poured in. Orange lit up their path, as Yvie dared to move outside, still holding on to the Lizard, feeling herself being just a tiny bit scared.

Fire raged around them, as burning buildings got ravaged by the flames, engulfing everything in their wake.

"Should we… Maybe… Go inside again?" The Lizard stammered, looking pitifully up at Yvie, who looked horrified around at, what seemed to be, a village.

"Yea" Yvie nodded, but as she turned around to find a sort of safety, the gate was gone.

Well, you know the drill by now xD
