The screams of death

The grotesque scream began to draw the attention of other Xynoins in the area; they began stampeding toward the orphanage.

Ava who was still in the Xynoin's clutches began shriveling from the intense way the monster was holding her.

Her vision was getting blurry and the only thing she could make out was the loud screams coming from inside the torn-down orphanage.

Ava's hand dropped as she no longer had the strength to move her body, even the humanoid Xynoin who was holding on to her wasn't paying attention.

Its focus was on the intense screams it was hearing, with its hand resting on the edge of the building, the Xynoin pushed its head in to get a glimpse of what was making the terrifying screams.

Arrrh!

The humanoid monster instantly pushed its head out before it fell on its butt with its face split in two.

Struck dumb, Ava mustered up the strength to have a look at the orphanage, only to catch a glimpse of a 7ft tall anomaly standing on top of the broken roof.

It was shrouded in shadow-like armor from head to toe, with blue glowing eyes and blue lighting dispersing around it.

The lightning monster gave out another scream before it flickered straight at the humanoid monster.

In the blink of an eye, it whooshed past Ava and its hand scattered into tiny threaded parts before it formed into a hard blade.

Slash!

The monster cut off the hand of the Xynoin, which immediately sent Ava falling flat to the ground.

She was so far gone that she couldn't tell most of what was happening around her; at a speeding rate, Ava hit the ground and she had impacted against a rock which in turn rendered her unconscious.

While still in mid-air, the lightning monster received a powerful blow from the Xynoin and its body went crashing into a building.

The Xynoin roared as it slowly stood to its feet with one hand. Once it was on its two feet, the Xynoin began strolling toward where the lightning monster landed.

Out of nowhere, the building where the lightning monster crashed in, blew apart when an intense rush of lightning charged out of it.

And just like that, the lightning monster whooshed out of the building with its body shrouded in blue lightning.

It arrived in front of the Xynoin with its hand still in a blade form while it got ready to attack. But the Xynoin wasn't looking to go down easily.

It used its one hand to throw a fast jab that the lightning monster immediately evaded by running on the Xynoin's arm.

Arriving at the neck, the monster screeched before it sliced its blade and served the head of the Xynoin to the ground.

Baam!

The headless Xynoin fell to the ground while its head was flying and landing on the car opposite the next street.

The lightning monster landed on the ground and wobbled as it moved toward Ava's conscious body.

The earth was reverberating as multiple snake Xynoins were gathering around the orphanage from different paths of the district.

Once the lightning monster arrived in front of Ava, it went to its knees and immediately picked up Ava's arm.

Bite! The monster took a huge bite of Ava's hand, allowing a load of blue liquid to flow inside her open wound.

After a while, it pulled away with another loud scary scream before it fell to the ground. Its skin began to liquefy on the ground, revealing Yuichi who was inside the monster.

A wandering snake Xynoin suddenly showed up near the two unconscious humans, the first thing it did was move close to Yuichi and observed.

After it had been satisfied, it opened its wide mouth and got ready to take a bite when all of a sudden….

Ava's hand went straight inside the Xynoin's head while she was still on the floor. She immediately opened her eyes to see the snake screeching in pain with her hand halfway in its head.

Without hesitating, she grabbed the rock underneath her head and pushed the huge Xynoin to the ground with her hand.

Mush! Mush! Mush!

Ava began smashing the monster's head continuously with the rock in the head. In terms of strength, she overwhelmed the monster so much that it just kept screaming for backup.

After a few more smashes with her eyes glowing a purple brimming light and the snake Xynoin stopped moving. Ava stood to her feet with the Xynoin's blue blood painted on her face.

She walked up to Yuichi and held him in her arms, "Yui…chi?" Ava called out.

She then proceeded to place her ear on his chest to listen to his heartbeat.

Btoom! Btoom!

A faint smile hit her face as she placed him gently on the ground and stood in front of him with a loud growl leaving her mouth.

All around her were snake Xynoin moving into her position like stampeding horses, but even with the overwhelming odds, Ava didn't back down. She stood her ground and got ready to fight.

Vroom!

The huge car raced on the road with five individuals dressed in military-like uniforms riding inside.

One of them was driving the car, a female with red hair and a beautiful face who was wearing black sunshades.

"Sergeant, are you sure we got the distress signal right?" She asked.

"Yeah, I'm a bit worried about that too." A young man with black hair spoke in the back seat, "It's extremely rare for Xynoins to attack at night".

"Not to speak of the commander telling us there were a lot of them, I don't feel good about this." Another young man spoke.

"Yeah, I understand, but I can't say I'm surprised, distinct 7 was doomed to fall anyway, step on it Lisa." Shinra Hayase, the sergeant of the squad ordered.

"Okay…if you say so." Lisa smirked as she moved the car to a higher gear and stepped on the tortle to send the car jetting.
