"I heard that you came by my house." He asked as soon as she entered his office.
Mrs. Pyke always informed him about everything that happened in his home. He had never known another person he could trust more than her, his second mother.
"Is it a crime to check on you?" His childhood friend innocently asked, but he knew it was all an act, knowing her too well.
"Check on me or someone else?" He asked, believing he knew what she was doing. "What are you doing here, Winona?"
First, his brother arrived, now his friend. It was highly questionable.
Of course, he welcomed her presence, but he could not help but be suspicious of her motives. Unlike his brother, he knew it was necessary.
