What is she hiding?

Lycan sat at his desk, his silver eyes staring at the pile of research materials in front of him. He had spent countless hours trying to uncover Kiara's true background, to discover who she was. The pack had become suspicious of her mysterious origins, and as the Alpha, it was Lycan's responsibility to protect his pack.

Their relationship had grown deep and passionate, and Lycan was fully invested in Kiara. He loved her fiercely, and he couldn't bear the thought of anyone within the pack using her past against her. Yet, despite his best efforts, his search had yielded no results. There seemed to be no records of her existence before she had appeared in the bar all those weeks ago.

He sighed, running a hand through his dark hair. Lycan knew he needed to be meticulous and thorough in his investigation. He couldn't afford any loose ends or unanswered questions. Gathering his thoughts, he delved into the piles of old scrolls and ancient books that held the secrets of their kind.

It has only been a matter of days, as Lycan spent every waking moment poring over the centuries-old texts. He had always exemplified patience, but the urgency to protect Kiara weighed heavily on his shoulders. He had to know who she was and where she came from, no matter the cost.

One evening, as the moon shone brightly outside his study window, Lycan's eyes widened as he stumbled upon a faded parchment. It detailed a prophecy from eras past, speaking of a powerful she-wolf who would unite the packs and bring about a new era of peace. The parchment made him wonder if his mate, Kiara, would be the chosen one.

His heart raced as he read the prophecy over and over again. Could this be the key to unlocking Kiara's past? Were the secrets of her true identity hidden within this ancient text? Lycan couldn't shake off the feeling of anticipation that gnawed at him. Excitement and worry mixed within him like a tempest.

With newfound hope, Lycan closed his eyes and decided to confront Kiara. He had to share what he had discovered, even though he couldn't be certain it was the whole truth. He needed to trust her and hoped that she would trust him in return.

He strode through the moonlit forest, his paws crossing the familiar paths that led to the house after taking a walk into the woods. His mind raced, rehearsing what he would say. Worries about her reaction and her fears clouded his thoughts, but he drove them away with determination. This was for their future, for their love.

The scent of wildflowers and pine filled the air as Lycan approached the clearing where Kiara was taking in the fresh air of nature while she waited for him. She looked up at him, her golden eyes shimmering with warmth and affection. A swell of love rose in Lycan's chest as he breathed in her presence.

"Kiara," Lycan began, his voice laced with seriousness, "I've been conducting a thorough investigation into your past, trying to protect you from any potential threats within the pack."

Kiara's expression flickered with surprise. "Lycan, I appreciate your concern, but why go to such lengths? I don't need protection. I've never hidden anything from you."

Lycan took a step closer, his voice filled with determination. "I know, Kiara. But the pack's growing suspicions have become undeniable. I stumbled upon an ancient prophecy that spoke of a she-wolf, destined to unite the packs and bring about peace. Could this prophecy, this ancient text, hold the truth of your origins?"

Kiara's breath caught, her eyes widening with a mix of hope and trepidation. "A prophecy? Are you saying that our love, our connection, is intertwined with something so grand? I never knew, Lycan. I am as surprised as you are. And you think this she-wolf can't be any she-wolf, why?

Lycan nodded, his heart pounding as he reached for Kiara's delicate paw, intertwining it with his own. "I believe, Kiara, that you are this chosen she-wolf. The one who will lead us all towards unity and peace, all the descriptions fit." He showed the book to Kiara for her to see.

Kiara's glistened with tears as she took in Lycan's words. "Lycan, I never knew. But I trust you, and I'm grateful for your relentless dedication to protect both me and our love. Let us face this together."

Lycan pulled Kiara into an embrace, his strong arms wrapping around her. "Always, my love. Always."

The next day, the sun was casting long shadows across the courtyard of the ancient castle, as Lycan, the weary detective, made his way towards Kiara's room. He had been researching her for days, trying to uncover the mystery that surrounded her every move. His curiosity had reached its peak, and he was determined to find the truth.

Lycan's footsteps echoed in the corridor as he approached the door to Kiara's room. He took a deep breath, preparing himself for what lay on the other side. With a firm hand, he knocked on the door, and it swung open to reveal Kiara standing there, a veil of secrecy in her eyes.

"May I come in?" Lycan asked with the utmost politeness. "I have some questions I'd like to ask you."

Kiara hesitated for a moment, assessing Lycan's intent. She knew that this was not an ordinary visit. Reluctantly, she nodded and gestured for him to enter her room, giving him a cautious look.

As Lycan stepped inside, he noticed the dimly lit room and the faint scent of lavender lingering in the air. The walls were adorned with intricate tapestries, each one depicting a different era of history. It was clear that Kiara had spent much time in the field collecting relics and artifacts from the past which were formerly in the living room. Lycan couldn't help but wonder if these objects held the key to her mysterious past - the type of things that she liked.

Seating himself on a worn-out armchair by the fireplace, Lycan cast his gaze upon Kiara, who was now perched on the edge of her bed, her long dark hair cascading down her shoulders.

"I've been trying to find out more about you, Kiara," Lycan began, his voice filled with a mix of curiosity and concern. "I've heard rumors, whispers of a troubled past that you've carefully hidden away. But I can see the pain in your eyes. I know there is more to your story than meets the eye."

Kiara's eyes hardened as she looked at Lycan, a mixture of defiance and sadness crossing her face. She knew she couldn't escape the truth forever, but revisiting her past was like reopening old wounds that had barely healed.

"I appreciate your curiosity, Lycan," she replied softly, her voice tinged with a hint of apprehension. "But some wounds run deep, and dwelling on the past doesn't do anyone any good. Trust me, there are things best left unsaid."

Lycan leaned forward in his chair, the fire's glow illuminating his rugged face. His deep eyes stared intensely at Kiara, as he started to decipher the fragments of her cryptic past.

"But Kiara, we all carry our baggage," he uttered gently, trying to convey his concern. "Our past shapes us and molds us into who we are today. It's not about reopening old wounds, but about understanding what made you the strong and resilient woman you are now."

Kiara's eyes darted away, a flicker of pain crossing her face. She knew that she couldn't avoid the truth forever. Lycan's tenacity had brought her to the edge of her defenses, and she had to decide whether to let him in or turn him away.

"Fine," she whispered, her voice barely audible. "But know this, Lycan - my past is filled with shadows and secrets. And once you uncover them, there is no turning back."

Lycan nodded, acknowledging the gravity of her statement. He knew that whatever lay hidden in Kiara's past was of immense significance. He couldn't help but feel a mixture of anticipation and trepidation at unraveling the enigma that was Kiara.

The room fell into silence as Lycan braced himself, preparing for what lay ahead. He knew that the path to the truth would not be an easy one, but he had made a promise to himself. He would see it through until the end, no matter the cost.

As dusk painted the sky with hues of orange and purple, Lycan took a deep breath and finally posed the question that had been burning in his mind.

"Kiara, where did you come from? What is it that you're hiding?"

Kiara's eyes flickered with a whirlwind of emotions. She took a moment to compose herself before she finally spoke, her voice laced with pain and vulnerability.

"I come from a place where darkness ruled, where fear and anguish were constant companions," she began, her voice laced with anguish. "My past is marred with tragedy, a past that I've worked tirelessly to escape. It's not that I don't trust you, Lycan, but revisiting those memories is like reopening wounds that have barely healed. My parents died when I was very young hence, why I don't like looking back at that time of my life."

Lycan's heart sank as he saw the pain etched on Kiara's face. He understood the weight of her words, the burden she carried. But he also knew that he couldn't let her bear it alone. With a soft gaze, he reached out and gently took her hand in his, offering silent support.

"Kiara, you don't have to face this alone," he said sincerely, his voice filled with empathy. "I'm here to help, to find the truth, no matter how painful it may be."

Kiara looked into Lycan's kind eyes, comforted by the genuine concern she saw within them.
