She is a reincarnated person after all (part 1)

"W-wait... but... you can't possibly think about making me pose as the second prince in the royal castle?! The second prince might have been a girl, but no one except her and his mother knew about it!"

Charlotte managed to shake her head and break the eye contact, which allowed her to regain some composure and gasp while biting her lips, doing her best to keep her head low.

"I... I can barely act! If you are telling me to pose as the second prince whom I knew for just a few days in front of a castle full of people who saw her every day, I will get exposed within the first five minutes... Maybe even less! And they will not let me die easily either – impersonating a member of the royalty is a grave offense; they will make an example out of me!"

As she couldn't see the demonic smile and the hypnotizing eyes of a serpent, Charlotte managed to voice her objection. She decided that if death came to her, she might as well just be killed right then and there instead of in a torture chamber in the royal castle's dungeon.

"Silly girl~ We will straight-up introduce you as the girl that you are~ A coming out of the decade. Not knowing how to act like James? Don't be ridiculous! Your role will be to play the caged bird that broke free! The setup is of the person who lived their whole life in a lie finally facing the truth! Everything can be changed, be it your favorite foods or hobbies! It doesn't matter that you will not know the servants and officials as long as you will act haughty or snarky about it, making it seem like you are doing it on purpose!"

"AH!"

And yet, despite Charlotte's expectations, Medea simply laughed off her argument before enlightening her about the rather audacious solution – which made her gasp upon realizing such a thing was a possibility.

"Do not worry, I can train bottom-of-the-barrel dregs of society into highly efficient criminals – teaching someone as talented as you how to play this role is nothing~."

"!!!"

The black-haired man said, and despite him not grinning anymore, the sudden chill of fear went down the pale-blond-haired girl's spine.

---------

The sun had already risen, and some of the guests lodging in the luxurious inn had departed toward their destination. Even so, the three guards responsible for the protection of the nobility staying on the upper floor could not feel at ease – as far as they were concerned, this could be the moment that terrifying black-haired man could choose to try and sneak by them... and seeing what he was capable of the day before, the trio had little doubt about him trying to kill them for real.

"...the young lady will not believe you; no one else will."

"Understood!"

"...?"

The large man standing guard at the door of the room where noble lady Zorivia Rotteloss was staying furrowed his brows and looked towards the staircase as he heard a piece of conversation between two people clearly making their way to the aristocracy-exclusive floor.

"!!!"

Two people showed up – a short person donning a hooded robe and... the black-haired personal attendant of young lady Zorivia Rotteloss.

The large man was clearly shaken at the sight of the troublesome man, but on the other hand, Medea seemed as if he could not be less interested in him.

With someone else around, the pair paused their conversation and approached the tense guard.

"Good job, you turned out to be worth the price demanded by the owner."

"...wha...? Oh! Of course, we are!"

Medea nodded his head at the large man, making him flinch and boast, suddenly relieved.

"You look like you need a good rest, be on your way. Oh, just don't forget to inform you, comrades, that the test is over, and you all passed."

"Yes! Thank you, sir!"

The black-haired man said with a hint of compassion in his voice which, to even the large guard's surprise, made him feel disproportionally amicable – especially knowing his previous actions.

Nonetheless, the large man, freed of the danger to his life, bowed his head low towards the black-haired servant and hurriedly left the hallway.

"..."

"Nothing much; I just said that if their services would turn out to be inadequate to the money spent on them, he and his colleagues will face harsh consequences."

Charlotte fidgeted under her hooded cape, whim, making Medea speak up and explain the situation.

"It's oddly relieving that I'm not the only one who is scared of you., mister."

The girl breathed out, not exactly commenting on the situation and rather stating what was on her mind.

"Congratulations, you are not an idiot."

"...hmph..."

Medea nodded in confirmation without changing his serious expression, to which the girl pouted and looked away... staying in character without a single mistake.

"My lady, I require permission to enter."

The black-haired man proceeded to knock on the door and declared.

*thump* *thump* *thump* *thump* *thump* *thump* *click*

"Medea!"

Literally, the very next second, the sound of someone sprinting came from the other side, and the door opened, revealing the blond-haired girl with the eyes like sapphires, gazing longingly upon the black-haired man's face without even acknowledging the surroundings.

Charlotte might as well not even be there.

"My lady, there is someone I need to introduce to you; let's not talk in a hallway."

"Eh? EH?! Who's that?!"

Medea lowered his head and moved his hand, showcasing the hooded Charlotte, and Zorivia gasped and flinched, reacting as if the short figure of the disguised girl suddenly appeared in front of her out of thin air and wasn't there from the start...

Despite that kind of reaction, Zorivia backed into the room, making way for the other two to enter, not hesitating to fulfill Medea's request in the slightest.

"..."

"...!"

Medea stepped forward without saying a word, and Charlotte did the same, but in her case, she was honestly stunned at young lady Rotteloss's behavior.

The hooded girl even wondered for a moment whether Zorivia had also been subjected to Medea's training or she simply trusted him to that degree.

Medea waited for Charlotte to follow and then locked the door.

*poof*

Without a moment of delay, Zorivia latched onto Medea's arm and started glaring at the hooded girl without even learning a single thing about her.

"...?"

Charlotte was about to take off her hood, but her hands stopped halfway as she froze, taken aback by Zorivia's action.

The teenage girl glanced towards Medea as if it was not the type of behavior that he told her the young miss would do.

"...it's not like that, dummy~ Look."

Medea's gaze softened as he looked at the adorably jealous Zorivia and reached out with his free hand to push off Charlotte's hood for her.

"Eh?! The second prince?! Alive?!"

"!!!"

"?!?!"

Seeing the pale-blond-haired teenager, Zorivia gaped in disbelief – but her surprise was nothing compared to Medea's and Charlotte's shock upon hearing her words.
