Chapter 148 Unexpected Shock.

Klaus was in shock.

He couldn't quite understand what was going on because this whole action took place in the space of seconds. This minute he was looking at the love of his life and the next minute his lips were claimed by someone else.

She clung To him so hard that he couldn't even pull her off because she wasn't letting go. He was utterly crushed by her lips that sucked his fervently. He didn't even know who was kissing him like this because she was wearing a mask, but he didn't care. All he thought about was Tiger.

Fuck!

Tiger was watching.

Who the hell is this and why is she kissing him?

Once the thought of his heartthrob came to his mind, he pulled her away, finally breaking the kiss. He wanted to know who this person was.  Immediately, his hands went to the mask on her face and pulled it off.

And there it was. An unexpected shock took over his face as he moved back in reflex. He couldn't believe it.

No.

It can't be.

It's not possible.

Laura?

His mind was in a fog. He couldn't process what was going on. His entire body vibrated for the first time in his life apart from the shivers Tiger gave him sexually and emotionally. This was a different kind of feeling he felt. He was not scared, he was just shocked.

Her eyes were directly on him— those ice-blue eyes that once triggered his emotions. She smiled at him with tears in them as she moved closer to him closing the gap between them once again.

"I thought I would never see you again".

She muttered as she went closer to him, cupping his face and silencing his doubts. She touched him and she felt so real.

She is real?

His eyes didn't leave hers. He was rendered utterly speechless. All his doubts dissipated but his heart fought not to believe.

When she wrapped her arms around him and had him cowering into a tight hug, his heart submitted into belief. It was her. She was real.

He had long forgotten that Tiger watched what was going on from beneath them. He even forgot that he was on a mission to keep watch. He was completely unaware of what was going on around him. He only concentrated on her— the lady before him that made a million questions run through his mind.

She's not dead?

How?

Her body was never found.

He didn't even have the strength to articulate words. Everything he wanted to say was only heard in his head.

Just as those thoughts ran through his mind, she was also in tears when she broke out of his arms slowly.

"I've missed you so much".

She whispered cupping his face again and merging his forehead with hers.

" Laura?"

LAURA HARVEY– Klaus's girlfriend, Tech freak, Crazyass software engineer, deceitful as hell, #billionarelifestyle.

He finally managed to call her name trying to figure out the mixed emotions he was feeling.

Shocked? Yes.

Happy? Yes. No.

Confused? Very confused.

Love? Still confused.

She smiled again looking deep into his eyes.

Zhavia arrived at her estate. It had begun to rain heavily. The car just moved past the first gate of the massive estate when she told the driver to stop the car.

The minute she stepped out of the car, the cold drops of rain designed her skin softly. Her exposed skin shone underneath the void of darkness as she felt the impacts of the drops.

She felt absolutely nothing at this point. She felt like she was falling and drowning deeper and deeper into numbness.

The moment she felt the chills that came with the drops from the cloud, she broke down falling to the floor. That feeling she didn't want to accept earlier took its place. It wrapped her head like a mask.

And just like that, he left her. Just like that, she was fooled again. Just like that, she opened up and received a massive bullet straight to her chest like that idiot she Is.

She shivered under the rain, allowing herself to get soaked in it. Her tears were the only warm moist she felt on her cheek as the unbearable pain hit her senseless.

She screamed her lungs out holding onto her chest as she cried like a baby in the middle of nowhere.

"Why?!!!!

She cried out in pain giving up on the floor. She was exhausted. She was tired. She felt worthless. She felt helpless when the warmth of her arms engulfed her.

"Zhavia".

Sofia called from behind with an umbrella above her head. She looked miserable and pitiful. She didn't even look like that all-powerful and confident zhavia that had all the pride in the world anymore, she looked like a hopeless kid that is lost and doesn't even know her whereabouts.

Nicholas stood the highest in the room as he ascended the golden altar. Everyone took their sits and waited patiently for him to start talking.

Tiger on the other hand couldn't even think for a second and Nicholas noticed. He knew something had distracted him and he knew it had to be his eyes that will carry out Tiger's supposed job of the night.

The bodyguard that stood behind him adjusted the mini mic closer and tapped on it to ensure it worked before he started speaking. His voice was deep and low. And his every word was slow and steady like he had all the time in the world.

" A lovely evening to everyone. I trust you were well accommodated here today. As you all know, I am Nicholas Alveiro Ross, and I am the heir of The Ross Empires".

There were smiles on everyone's faces as was expected, and the room was dead silent. Meredith on the other hand only looked at her son and nothing else. There was something in her eyes. It was pride. She was the proudest she had ever been. This was what she wanted. She wanted him to take over this legacy and build it to the highest there is.

"For a while now, The Empire functioned without a head, without a leader, and without purpose. It had been through so many ups and downs and has fought its way up as the greatest of them all. Hence, consisting of the largest number of investors, and an enormous amount of dignitary accomplishments".

His dark eyes moved from one person to another as he spoke. He was the calmest he had ever been and was the most relaxed person in the large hall. He talked with pride— after all, those supposed accomplishments of the empire were all his efforts.

" A great country cannot stand without a president and its arms of government, and a prideful kingdom cannot stand without a king. Therefore, Now, here, and today, I, Nicholas Alveiro Ross take the bait and I declare myself, The possessor of The Ross Empire".

And just as he said those words, applause filled the air. Every single being in the room acknowledged him and he alone.

His expression was still indifferent. His eyes moved slowly surveying every one of them. His eyes strolled to Meredith that also sat highly amongst her wannabes and her lips lifted to him. For the first time in his life, he saw it. He saw what he had never seen in her eyes before. He saw what he has always wanted to see when he looked into the eyes of his mother. He saw warmth.

There was joy in her eyes as she looked at him. There was also pride. He quickly diverted his gaze from her as he stepped down from the altar and was surrounded once again by his bodyguards as some highly placed men and woman walked towards him— yes, he cannot mingle.

Meredith was also surrounded by both men and women of the higher class. The duchess of Springfield was also present.

"Oh my God, Meredith that son of yours is a keeper".

One of the women mouthed.

"Why thank you, I am so proud". She smiled.

"Lucky for me, he is my soon-to-be son-in-law".

Andrea chipped in with a pride-filled smile.

They all gasped and spoke all at once.

"You don't say".

"So lucky".

"Wow".

"That's a really big deal".

"Oh my, something to be proud of".

Meredith smiled at all their comments as she shot a look at Andrea.

"Oh yeah, that's true, where is Genevieve?"

"Oh, she should be here somewhere, I sent the invitation letter to her chambers".

She sounded very sure. She knew that Genevieve would never miss anything that concerned Nicholas, so she didn't bother herself so much about it.

"Then she is here, or maybe in his chambers".

Meredith chipped in and all the women giggled with style In a classy way.

Tiger walked out of the hall in a daze. He was still trying to figure out what happened earlier. He needed air and also needed to breathe. He walked into the hallway as he went up the elevator going in search of him.

His mind was in a fog, he needed to clear this thought in his mind.

He was weak.
