It was already night, the children were resting after playing for a long time, and the adults were finishing their tasks.
In the Chief's house, the chief was with the merchant since he was providing him accommodation.
"Are you sure? I can sleep elsewhere if it bothers you," said the merchant.
"Don't worry. You can stay as long as needed until the Dire Wolves are eliminated," said the chief.
"Thank you..." The merchant remembered something. "Can I ask you a question?"
"Go ahead."
"Is it true that there's a witch in this village?"
The chief sighed, knowing that they were still calling Mireth a witch.
"It's Mireth. But she's not a witch, she's just an alchemist."
The merchant was silent, listening attentively.
"She lives away from the village because she conducts experiments that are very volatile. But she's still quite capable since she gives us potions that heal or help with illnesses, especially since we don't have a priest."
The merchant made some strange noises, which worried the Chief of the Village.
"Are you alright?" The Chief asked.
The merchant let out a strange laugh, confusing the Chief.
"FINALLY, I FOUND YOU!!"
He started laughing crazily, then looked at the Chief of the Village, raised his hand, and fired a blast of fire that completely enveloped the Chief, turning him into ashes instantly.
A large flame engulfed the Chief's house, which all the villagers saw, so they hurried to try and put it out, while those living near him moved away to avoid the fire.
"Mr. Arnold!"
They shouted, worried about the Chief of the Village due to the flames.
"We need to put it out!"
"Water! We need water!"
While some tried to put out the fire as best they could, others went to fetch water from the wells.
"I see someone!"
From the flames of the house, a human silhouette was emerging.
"MR. ARNO...!"
Before they could shout for the Chief of the Village, a fire projectile shot directly at the figure, burning them completely.
Out of the flames came the merchant, who, upon seeing everyone, fired multiple fire projectiles that engulfed them entirely.
"RUN!!"
The villagers began to run as the merchant continued attacking them. Just as he was about to attack a woman, one of the hunters arrived and blocked the projectile with a shield.
Multiple arrows were shot at him, which he burned, preventing them from reaching their target.
"Get out of here!"
The hunters ordered the villagers to leave while they dealt with the merchant.
"Is he a mage?"
"Looks like it."
"We just need to get closer, and we can finish him off."
The hunters began attacking him from a distance with arrows while the rest tried to get closer, but due to the fire attacks, they could only defend.
Multiple fire projectiles flew directly at the hunters, who had to dodge, causing nearby houses to catch fire.
"Enough already!"
One hunter charged at him while fire projectiles were coming at him. He began dodging in a zigzag pattern to avoid being hit until he was in front of the merchant.
"I've got you!"
He tried to cut him with a sword, but as soon as he touched him, he was instantly burned. Then, a fireball shot directly at the hunter with the shield, who also ended up dying.
"DO YOU THINK SOME SIMPLE HUMANS CAN STOP ME?!"
From the merchant's position, a massive fire blast shot directly at the hunters, who could only see fire in front of them.
'This is impossible.'
The hunters resigned themselves to the fact that they couldn't defeat him when a gust of cold wind passed by them, instantly freezing the fire right in front of them.
"Finally, you arrived," said the merchant with a smile.
Behind the hunters stood Mireth, who was watching him.
"Leave here. I'll handle him."
"MIRETH!!"
A gigantic thunderstruck him along with multiple fireballs from Mireth, which kept coming at him, obscuring everything.
"DIDN'T YOU HEAR ME?! LEAVE HERE!"
The hunters left, leaving Mireth alone with the merchant.
"Now, what are you doing here, Asmodeo?"
From the explosion emerged a completely different person. He had large black horns, skin black as coal that cracked to reveal red veins releasing intense heat. He had white hair and bloodshot red eyes.
"Finally, I found you. I spent 40 years searching for you, and when I find you, you're nothing but a decrepit old woman."
The houses that were burning around them were hurled at Asmodeo, and Mireth prepared a wind magic, launching it as multiple wind slashes toward him.
"I may be old, but I can still kill you, Asmodeo. You couldn't kill me 40 years ago, and you won't kill me now."
The houses melted, and Asmodeo emerged unscathed.
"Now it's different. I'm the Commander of the Seventh Demonic Legion, Asmodeo, the Fire of Madness."
Mireth felt a surge of mana and saw a gigantic wall of fire surrounding the village and much of the forest.
"Get ready, Mireth. I'm going to kill you."

{Pov Vaelor}
Everything happened suddenly. That massive wall of fire appeared, and when I looked to see where the grandmother was, she was already gone, so I assumed she went to the village.
As I ran toward the village, I saw many villagers fleeing into the forest.
"What's happening?"
I looked toward the village and saw two people fighting with fire and ice magic.
"Grandmother?"
I cleared my head and went with the rest of the people.
"Hey!" I shouted, looking at the others.
"Vaelor!"
Alonso approached me to check if I was alright.
"Are you okay?"
He began checking me for injuries.
"I'm fine. What's happening? Who's my grandmother fighting?" I asked, trying to find out more.
"According to the hunters, it's the merchant. He's a mage and started destroying everything, so your grandmother is dealing with him."
I looked at the sky and saw a gigantic amount of spells colliding.
"Let your grandmother handle it. We need to get the villagers to a cave," Alonso said.
"A cave? What good would that do?" I asked.
"There's a cave where we can protect everyone until your grandmother takes care of him. We can't interfere in that battle, so we'll just focus on what we need to do."
I nodded and followed Alonso.
We were heading through the forest while being defended by the hunters, so I tried to help, but they didn't accept, so I just kept walking.
I looked at the people, who were clearly terrified. Some children were crying, just like some babies.
I tried to look for Selene and Caelum, but I couldn't see them or their parents.
"Dire Wolves!"
At the moment, the people were startled.
"Calm down! Just keep moving! We'll handle this!"
The hunters rushed to fight the Dire Wolves so the villagers could keep moving.
As we advanced, I saw a pair of Dire Wolves approaching, so I drew my sword and used Quick Slash, which went straight at them.
"Here too!"
One of the Dire Wolves lunged at me, so I had to block it with my sword, falling backward.
"Get off me!"
I cut it a little inside its mouth, which made it scream in pain, while one of the hunters took care of the other Dire Wolf.
The hunter was going to help me, but the Dire Wolf fell to the ground, foaming at the mouth.
"Take that."
I stabbed it in the neck, killing it.
'Poisoning my sword really helps.'
"Good job. Your training has been very useful," the hunter thanked me.
I saw that he had a wound on the side of his abdomen.
"Here. You'll need your strength."
"Thanks."
I was going to take the potion when I saw a flash in front of me that temporarily blinded me.
"What happened?"
In front of me was the hunter, completely scorched, and he fell to the ground.
"Yaaah!"
Everyone screamed, scared by the sight.
"They really scream."
I looked to where the voice came from and saw a tall man with purple hair and an elegant outfit. I would have confused him with a regular person, but the horns he had made me realize he wasn't.
"Quick Slash!"
A slash went straight at the mysterious figure, which was repelled with just one hand.
"Everyone! Run away!"
Alonso shouted for everyone to leave while he brandished his sword against the mysterious figure.
