The Unknown Priest

Cold breeze softly touches my face that wakes my whole inner soul. I gently open my eyes but my eyes hurt as the direct sunlight from the glass window reflects inside my room. I gradually turn around, grab my huge side pillow, crawled inside the blanket and curled like a fetus.

I heard the chirping of birds, the splash of water from the kitchen, and my lovely mom's voice as she cooks our breakfast while humming my favorite lullaby. I smell cooked potatoes, I think we will be having potatoes again for our breakfast.

I heard footsteps coming. "Who's gonna wake me up this time? is it mom or dad?" I'm wondering as I guess who is the great person who will bring the sleeping princess back from her deep sleep.

I smell wood and dirt as the footsteps come closer.

The sound stop after a few steps.

"It's time to reveal the answer!" I think excitedly as I yell.

"It's dad!!!!" I said while pointing out the opening door of my room.

"Yes it's me!" my dad jumped towards my bed and kissed my forehead.

"Good morning sweetheart, are you playing with your mind games again?" he said as he pinched my cheeks.

"Well my guess is correct! I can easily differentiate the movements and scent of the two of you." I proudly stand at the top of my bed and put my hands to my waist.

He chuckled and hug me tight.

"Of course I know that! You're my daughter after all!" he said happily and tickled me.

"Dad... stop!!! that tickles!!! HAHHAHAHAHHAH." he stop tickling me when my mother burst out from the door of my room.

"Julius would you let Ardent prepare herself first? the breakfast is ready." mom said while crossing her arms together and left us speechless.

I looked at my father, I see that his also looking at me.

"Alright let's continue this next time, the Godzilla outside might eat us both if you don't get ready..... RARWWWW HAHAHHA!" he said while imitating a wild dinosaur. I laughed as he left my room.

I quickly jumped out of the bed and washed my face. I wear my favorite white blouse, blue vintage negligee camisole, and my blue old fashioned skirt with a silver lining paired by a black laced and a dirty old boots, I let my curly hair loose. I looked my self at the mirror for the last time before I leave my room.

"Here you are, alright sit already your milk will get cold." mom said as I sit down in front of the table.

I dig up through the potatoes in my plate when a mysterious knock at the door let as be fazed for a bit.

My mom grab my arms and pull me towards her. "Mom is everything alright?" I asked.

"Yes sweetheart, just don't make unnecessary noise as much as possible, understood?" she whispered, I respond by nodding.

"I'll go get the door..." father said while coming near the door.

The sound of his gentle footsteps echoed through my mind, it's making me crazy.

Several knocks repeats frequently.

*knock...*knock...

*knock...*knock...

My father's sluggish response through the door makes me want to be the one to open it. He carefully grab the doorknob and quickly open it. His frightened face suddenly brights up that confused us.

"Darling, Fr. Monteverde is here!" he said while turning his heads towards our directions.

My mom swiftly run towards the door and shake hands with the unknown guy outside.

"Fr. Monteverde long time no see."

"Yes father it's been awhile!" my parents greet him happily while I remain silent in the corner, looking at them having a good time chatting.

"Oh please come in, we have a long way to catch up with each other." my parents move aside to let the guy walk inside.

I don't remember that my parents have a friend that is addressed by that name, and what I'm surprised of is that we covenants are not allowed to talk to the higher tires. How did they meet this guy, his also a priest and a priest is one of the highest position in the higher court, you wouldn't be a priest without a proper education, wealth and experience it only means he belongs to either Arc, God, or High tire position. Being with them would be a great connection, I should say.

I saw the guy walk inside and put his hat at the wodden stand at the back of the door as if he knows every part of the house.

His a tall guy with a masculine body that can scare other people by just looking at them, but his soft aura will make everyone change its mind and trust him. I think that's what they call the power of a priest... don't mind the last part that I said.

His surprised face greets me when he turns around and saw me silently looking at him at the corner. He slowly walk towards me and kneeled down.

"Are you gonna murder me?" he bluntly said. His unexpected greetings surprised me. "Is he really a priest?!" I thought.

He chuckled, his entertained about my sudden expression. It makes my ears heat up.

"If you don't respond I should say that you're really preparing to kill me with your sharp eyes." he smiled at me and stretched out his hand.

"Don't worry I'll not gonna hurt you, by the way I'm Caesar Monteverde and you are?" he said chummily. I looked for my parents reactions, and they are both smiling at me.

"I guess this guy is safe." I say to my self. I slowly grab the priest hand and shake it a couple of times.

"I'm Ardent Navier the second child, it's nice to meet you." I plainly said. He smiled at me and pat my head as he turned his head back to my parents.

"She looks more intelligent and responsible than you Julius!" the priest pat my father's shoulder.

"Well she's a lot more nature sensitive than her mother!" father said, and the three of them laugh like a drunk idiots on the streets.

While I stand their awkwardly while thinking if I should also laugh with them.
