The woman who was named Medb, unrolled her whip and striked at the werewolf who was now outnumbered by one to two.
It quickly dodged the whip and silver weapons that were fired at him.
It noticed that it was in disadvantage so, it turned around and ran.
"Ah! No! Don't run! I just got here!" Medb yelled from behind.
"Don't taunt it!" Max yelled from the side.
After making sure that the werewolf was no longer in their vision, Max slumped on the ground as exhaustion overwhelmed him.
"Hmph! It ran as soon as I got here." She pouted.
"Good thing it did. I was at my limit."
"Hmm I guess so. The name is Medb!" She put her hands on her hips and said.
Max looked thoughtful upon hearing her name and said, "You can call me Max. Thanks for your help."
"You are welcome!"
"What are you doing out here in the woods by yourself?" Max asked.
"I could ask the same thing to you." She replied.
"Traveling."
"Oh, what a coincidence me too!" She replied with high spirits and sat right next to Max.
"Indeed, what a coincidence. Where are you headed to?"
She looked thoughtful upon hearing Max's question. "Hmm, I don't know."
"You don't know?" Max tilted his head in confusion.
"Yeah. I don't know. I just go wherever I like." She replied as if it was a matter of fact.
'She is weird.' He thought. "Good for you I guess." He shrugged.
"What about you? Where are you headed?"
"The Imperial City."
"Ah! I always wanted to go there! How nice, we can go there together!" She said with a cheerful voice.
"No." Max cut her instantly. 'No matter how I look at it, she is too weird! Her whole being screams weird!'
"Aww don't be like that it will be fun!" But she didn't mind it.
"I said no."
"Come ooonn."
"Nein!"
"Did you say yes?"
"No."
"Did you say no?"
"I said no!"
"It was a yes or no question."
"…"
"You said yes!"
"No! I specifically said nothing!"
They continued their argument until the sun was up.
Max went to get his belongings back and saw that they were gone. "Dammit."
"What happened?" Medb's voice came from his back as she took a look from his shoulder.
"Why are you still here?"
"What do you mean? I'm going this way too."
'If only she had even a little bit of malicious intent, how easy would that be.' Max thought.
Then he changed his destination and started walking back to the village from before.
And Medb started following. "Hey, where are you from?" She asked.
"Horizon." Max answered.
"Where is that?"
"It is in the South. A part of Cyrodiil."
"Ah I see. A small town I guess. Just so you know, I'm from Cintra."
"You are quite far from home."
"Oh? You know about Continent?"
"A little bit."
"You are not as ignorant as you look after all, Medb is pleased." She said smugly.
"You are a Source?" But Max didn't mind her.
Western part of the land was called Continent and consisted of many kingdoms. It was Leopold's hometown. And the ones who were born with the ability to manipulate magic was called Source. Their magic was unique.
"Sadly, no. But it's okay, I learned some other stuff." She replied.
"I see. I was planning on visiting Aretuza or Ban Ard one day." Max said.
"Ban Ard? You are quite behind on the information aren't you? Ban Ard was destroyed around thirty years ago. Now Aretuza accepts male disciples too." Medb said.
"Thirty years ago?" Max asked.
"Yeah. They say it was during an experiment but I don't know. It could be true though." She shrugged her shoulders.
"I see."
The rest of the way continued with small talk as they reached the village.
Max didn't want to go out unprepared when there was a werewolf out there. Because they never hunted alone, if there was one, there definitely were others.
And it was likely that the one they encountered was a youngling who couldn't stop itself because of the blood moon.
Max went to the same inn he stayed at previously and paid for a room.
Once inside his room, he crashed on the bed again. 'Deja vu.'
The next morning, he woke up early and went to find the innkeeper.
He sat on the bar stool and turned to the innkeeper who brought him his food. "Have you ever noticed that your village might have a werewolf problem?"
"Werewolves? No. Never heard of them appearing here." He shook his head.
"Never heard of them, eh? Got it." Then Max turned to finish his meal.
During that time Medb came down looking like she spent a few hours maintaining her look but instead came down as soon as she woke up.
After eating breakfast, Max went out to buy a bag and some supplies to replenish the ones he lost. Medb tagged along on the way.
He shopped around and soon came to the smithy.
A man in his thirties was hammering on a sword. "Hello." Max greeted.
"Yeah?"
"Do you have any silver ingots lying around here somewhere?"
"Yeah, I got a couple. 3 copper each."
Then Max bought a few ingots and walked back to the inn.
"Why did you buy them?" Medb asked.
"To make wolfsbane."
"Wolfsbane?"
"Yeah. A poison super effective on werewolves."
"Ehh how nice! You know your stuff."
"I was taught well."
Max went back to his room and placed the stuff he bought on the desk.
He first altered the ingot to make it into powder, then projected a mortar and pestle.
First he put some bittergreen petals, sprinkled some silver powder and finally some coda flower.
He added some water in it and continued smashing the ingredients until it turned into a paste. He then put the paste into a steel container.
He then went downstairs to borrow the stove.
He lit it up and stirred the concoction until it turned a purplish green color.
He then poured into a vial and sealed the lid.
Medb who was watching the process from start to finish asked, "Is it done?"
"Yeah."
Then Max plastered some on Medb's whip, his dagger and the arrows he bought from the blacksmith.
"You ready?" He asked.
"Anytime." Medb replied.
"Let's go."
