Final Plans for Lastwood

The day after the group of survivors from the Misty Woods Tribe split up, Seth and his four companions saw the other 15 natives leave Giant Island.

With the five tribe members was the leader of the local mercenary guild, who didn't know what the internal problems were that caused the group to split, but he couldn't help but regret it.

Kevin sighed and said to the four of them. "It's a shame they decided to leave. Lastwood was getting better in your presence."

Aria, the woman who had registered Seth's companions a few days ago, stood next to her boss and said. "Your departure was long overdue. They're too strong to stay in a city like ours for long."

Kevin looked at Seth and asked. "What about you?"

Seth replied. "I still have things to do in Lastwood. But we should leave soon. Unfortunately, this place doesn't have all the answers we need."

"I see... It's a shame." Kevin would prefer them to stay there. But since they were leaving, he would try to get something out of it. "Since you're going to continue your journey outside the city, you should consider passing through Rosecoast."

"The biggest city in the province?" Dax asked, having already learned enough to know the name of this city and other parts of the dynasty.

Kevin smiled as he held a medallion in his hands. "Yes, there's a mercenary guild in Rosecoast that's a partner of my group. If you take this medallion, you'll be welcomed and receive some benefits. Besides, this city is much bigger than Lastwood and even has high-ranking Sky People."

Aria looked at Seth and said. "It will be a good place for you to try to find what you want. If you don't get anything there, only the dynasty's capital will give you a chance.

But even if you don't get much information, that would already help you eliminate many places to spend your time in our state."

"That makes sense," Atlas commented, feeling that it would be good for them to follow the lead of these two.

Moses' group would go straight to the capital. From what Emery had told them about this elder's intentions, such a group would go directly to the dynasty's capital to challenge the ruler and force him to say what he knew. From there, they would leave the state and deal with whatever came their way.

That was a bold plan, much more dangerous than going to Rosecoast.

Seth extended a hand to Kevin and thanked him. "Thank you for your help. I'll mention your name when I get to the High Magister Order."

Kevin said goodbye to Seth's group and returned to Aria's guild headquarters satisfied.

Aria didn't feel the same way as her boss. She wouldn't benefit from those people leaving, and she hadn't gotten what she wanted from Seth's companions.

She had tried to use her charm to seduce the men who had survived the massacre on the Giant Island. But strangely, Seth's companions didn't seem to have the slightest interest in worldly affairs.

While she sighed at the missed opportunity, Seth and his companions stayed behind where they could no longer see Moses and Jothan's group.

"What else do we have to do here?" Atlas asked Seth.

"There may be some information we haven't learned yet in Lastwood. But the most important thing is the chance to train our skills to hide our ignorance." Seth said in a low voice. "The people in this city are harmless to us. But we don't know anything about Rosecoast or the other places we will pass through. Even if some of these places are weak, how can we be sure that others like us aren't traveling through them?

One day of bad luck is all it takes for all our hopes to fade away. But I won't let that happen at the beginning of our journey." His eyes showed his determination as the four sighed.

'I wish I had that calmness.' Emery thought as she imagined how good it must be to have the special abilities of several tribe members.

Seth added. "Besides, we need a disguise for our travels. People from this place aren't in the habit of flying or running at high speed while traveling.

I need to finish building our flying boat so that we can disguise our movements and hide our powers."

Not only did Seth not want to appear ignorant and strange, but he also didn't want to draw unnecessary attention to his group's special powers.

His experiences in the village of Ihk and in Lastwood had gone relatively well, but he didn't want to push his luck. Showing too much power would eventually get him into trouble. He had learned this from observing a few incidents in Lastwood since his group's arrival.

Strong people used to attract envious looks, hostility, jealousy, and hatred, sometimes because of the arrogance of certain strong people, but sometimes unfairly because society itself had its problems.

Power can corrupt people. On the island, none of the members of Seth's tribe had to worry about this because they were all powerful and lived in harmony. But in this society of inequality, people would look at others with interest based on their power.

That could attract selfish people who only want to parasitize them, but it could also attract those who are interested in those who may or may not be selfish.

It was easy to start a negative cycle of problems in this world, something Seth had seen repeated and cause almost uncontrollable problems in the little Lastwood.

In one case, he had seen a person who was talented by local standards die because a woman took an interest in him, causing jealousy in a third person who had nothing to do with the talented man. In another case, he had seen a woman kill an entire family near the city after being pursued by a rival because of her superior talent.

That had taught him a valuable lesson that he would never have the chance to learn on Giant Island.

The four of them understood Seth's plans and soon split up to follow his plans for the group's final days in Lastwood.

Meanwhile, Seth would use his next few days in Lastwood to continue learning skills from the locals he had interacted with, including blacksmiths, alchemists, and carpenters.

He didn't want to use anything on his body that could change him, but he was willing to learn to better understand this society and how their methods worked on bodies like his.

That would be necessary for their journey ahead, so it didn't interfere with his plans.
