Chapter Two: Captain Levi

(Emi's POV)

"Woah! I've never been this close to the inner wall before!" I giggled, my golden eyes scanning the scenery before me as I was crammed in a large wooden wagon. "Really? Where did you come from again?" One of my friends, Lulu had asked. I had met her on my first day of training, over three years ago. It seemed like forever ago when I first joined the military. But back then, it was either join or die. I looked at her, studying the details of her deep caramel skin as I smiled.

"I was raised in the Karanes District. But my parents were from the Shiganshina District." I explained as she nodded. "I don't think I've ever heard you speak of your parents before. Are they..still alive?" Lulus voice had a calming touch to it that made me feel warm as I shook my head. "My mother died when I was a kid. My father was a Commander of the scout regiment but...he died when I was a baby." I explained as she sighed and gently touched my arm.

"Don't worry though! I'm gonna get stronger and someday show my dads comrades that I am just as as useful as he was." I grinned as the wagon stopped in front of a line of soldiers. After a few seconds of shuffling out of the cramped wagon I was instantly greeted by a very short man with dark black hair and dark mean eyes. He didn't say a word as he looked me up and down, his gaze giving me chills.

"C-Can I help you?" I looked at him blankly as the corner of his mouth turned into a smirk. "And you must be Emi Toragashi. Unfortunately I've heard a lot about you. The names Captain Levi." He glared at me as the soldiers around me quickly saluted him. I sighed as I looked at him, my eyes traveling up his body and stopping on his cold gaze as I bit my lower lip and slowly raised my fist over my heart. Levi walked closer to me, standing only a few inches away from me as I did the best I could to hold my laughter.

"Is something funny, Cadet? Care to share with everyone else what you find so hilarious?" His words coated in distaste as I looked at LuLu, who's violet eyes were practically begging me to stop. But, I just couldn't. "I mean.. when I first heard of you, I thought you were going to be this huge scary man but.." my gaze traveled up and down his short stature as I could hear the rest of the cadets inhale in unison. Captain Levi grabbed me by my collar and forcefully pulled my face inches from his.

"Listen here, that attitude of yours may have worked out well for you in training but, I will not tolerate that kind of disrespect towards your Captain. I'm going to make you a model student, even if I have to break that facade of yours first." I scowled at me as I smirked and smiled. "I can't wait, Sir." I sarcastically stated as he let go of my collar. "Tonight, I want you at the training field by nineteen hundred hours, do you understand cadet?" He asked. Tempted to make yet another comment I quickly bit the inside of my lip and nodded as he sighed and walked away.
