Chapter Three: The Legend Of The Mark

It's been a month since my 16th birthday and since the day I got my mark assigned to me. I am still good friends with Damara and her friend group, and now Mads is into Thomas and has a crush on him instead of Wilbur. Wilbur is single now. Him and Lana got into a fight where she threw her lunch food at him, and whatever. Lina is still happy in her relationship, and I am still single, and madly interested in Damara.

I notice Lina walking towards us, and I see Dixie rolling her eyes. I roll mine too, and try my best to ignore her. We walked away and she looked down.

"Guys, I am not here to bully you like my sisters. I am here to give you my flyers to vote for me as president." Lina said, and we each took a flyer. They were professionally printed.

"These are well printed." I said, and she nodded.

"Since it's my and my sisters' 17th birthday tomorrow, I was wondering if you guys could come, maybe?" Lina asked us, and I smiled.

"Of course I'll go." I said, and Damara looked at me. I looked at her.

"I'll come too. As Ashlyn's date, if she'll let me." Damara said, and I widened my eyes.

I got fucking butterflies in my stomach, holy shit. I am so nervous now. Can someone please splash a bucket of water on me so I can get back to reality.

"Y-yeah, of course. I would love to." I said, and Damara smiled.

"It's a date then." Damara said and I winked at her.

"Okay. Great! Here are the invitations and I am excited to see all of you there." Lina said, and walked away with her sisters. I can hear them trying to say petty things.

"We just got invited to the biggest party of the year. This means something, guys." Dixie said and we all smiled with each other.

I decided to wrap my arm around Damara, and she smiled right at me.

"So, are y'all a thing now, or what?" Mads asked us, and I shook my head.

"I wouldn't put any labels on anything yet. I think we're going to wait and see until tomorrow." I said, and Damara nodded.

"Yeah. what Ashlyn said." Damara replied, and then we held hands.

---

I decided to walk to the icecream lunch during school, and it overwhelmed me that she asked me to be her date to the dance. I said yes, of course. I have a huge crush on her.

"What would you like?" The icecream man asked me, and I looked on the menu.

"I would like a mint chocolate chip with gummy bears, please." I asked and he nodded, grabbing a bowl and the scoop inside the mint chocolate chip area. He then grabs the scoop and puts the icecream in the bowl. He walks to the gummy bears and puts them on top of the ice cream, and then hands it to me.

I quickly pay for it and I make my way outside the shop and back to school back on the baseball field. I see Damara, and so I walk over to her. She smirks and she's blushing, just like me.

"Your cheeks are very red, Ash. I like it." Damara said, and I smiled.

"I want to talk to you about something." I said, and she is listening very clearly I think.

"Yeah. Of Course. Say anything." Damara said, and I breathed in and out.

"I think that we should keep our relationship on the downlow, if there is anything here." I said, and she nodded.

"Yeah, I agree. I don't want to start any drama with the friend group and all." Damara said, and I nodded.

"Yeah, and I have been into you since I was in the sixth grade, but I don't want to start any drama." I said, and Damara nodded.

"Of course," Damara said, and then she had the thought "does this mean I get to call you baby?"

"Yes, Do that all you want." I said, and she leaned in for a kiss, and now her lips are so close to mine. Like, I would say, two inches away. I lean in a little bit, and I go for it.

I go in for the kiss, and we move our lips together. I sit on her lap and she holds on my back with her arms and hands. I get all the tongue, twisting in circles and my hands placed on her neck. I really like her. I wasn't expecting her to be this fast in a relationship, but honestly, I don't mind. I don't mind the tongue. She's good at it, and I've honestly never done it before. She felt so comfortable with our tongues touching, and the stadium smells horrible. I don't care.

My legs start to feel weak, and my tongue is literally having its workout. My hands feel like they need more push, and so I aggressively push her onto the bench of the bleacher.

"Ow, that kind of hurt." She said, and I laughed.

"I am so sorry." I said, and I just decided to lay on top of her. She put her hand in my hair and we looked up on the beauty of the sun together.

What we had for a second was short and brief, but perfect. It felt perfect until I hurt her spine on the bench. She's okay. Nothing's broken, thank goodness. The kiss felt like no one existed in that moment. Like no one was there, and there actually was no one there, but it felt like nothing was there as well. The overwhelming feeling of butterflies was just amazing. Never felt anything like that before.

---

Damara and I are at her house right now. We're laying in bed together, with her wrapping her arms around me, and her smile, her face, it blocked everything out of my life. It blocked everything out like all of my attention is on her, and nothing else. We do these little peck kisses in bed and they feel magical, almost as magical as the one we had on the baseball field.

"You're beautiful, you know that?" Damara asked me, and I smiled, looking right at her face.

"You know you're beautiful, right, baby?" I asked her, and she blushed so big.

---

Now, we're in her backyard and on the little hammock together, looking at the pool. I want to swim in it with her right now to be honest. I mean, it's November. It's not winter season, but it's not summer either. It's a mix in between.

"Want to hop in there?" I asked her, and she nodded.

"I have a spare suit for you. Don't worry." Damara said, and I smirked.

"I mean, I could go in naked." I winked at her.

"Kinky, aren't you?" Damara asked me, and I winked at her again.

"I mean, if you want me to, I don't have to wear a suit." I said, and she raised her eyebrow.

"No, you're wearing a swimsuit. Final decision, you pervert." Damara said, and I pouted. She went upstairs to grab the swim suit, and I looked down at myself.

A couple minutes later, she gives me the swimsuit, and it's pink because she knows that's the color I was given. NOT! I put it on and I look at myself in the mirror. It looks so bad, but I look at Damara and she has a big smile on her face.

"What do you think?" I asked her, and she smiled.

"I think that you look like a fashion model." Damara said, and she took my hand.

We went back down to the backyard and to her swimming pool. I stand in front of it, looking at how beautiful it is, only to be pushed in by Damara. She laughs, and then she puts her feet in the water. I raised my eyebrow and pulled her in with me. She came in with no hesitation. I splashed her with water, and she splashed me. We had a fun time, and then we kissed in the middle of the pool. I see Luna walking out into her backyard next door, and looking at us, and so I stopped kissing Damara and I swam away.

"Hey, what's up?" Damara asked me, and I shrugged.

"I don't know, it just felt too cold right now." I replied and she nodded.

"Understandable. It is very cold." Damara replied and she got out, putting them both in a towel together. Then, we kissed again.

I took off the suit in the restroom, and I put my normal clothes back on, and goddamn they were drenching like hell's insanity. My mark wiped off, and Damara looked and gasped at it.

"What?" I asked, looking at where her eyes were directed. I covered my mark right away.

"Babe, it's not what you think." I said, and Damara looked at me.

"You… you have the orange mark… that is only the mark of legends." Damara said. I could tell she was scared.

"Baby, just, inhala, exhala." I said, and she inhaled and exhaled with me, as I was trying to calm her down.

"Does that mark make you a criminal?" Damara asked me, and I shook my head.

"Not that I know of. But, I am not going to hurt you." I said, and she kept freaking out.

I looked at her right in the eyes as I got my things ready to go home. I was waiting until I was ready. I hope she still likes me in some sort of way. I hope that didn't ruin everything. I hope I didn't ruin my one shot.

I decide to leave her house, and I can tell she is panicking, so I don't want to make it worse. I get in my car and I drive home. Luna definitely did not see that much, which is a good thing. She would've exposed me in front of the entire school.

I walk into my room to see my sister looking around at all the pink and she smiled at me.

"This looks pretty. Pink is your color." She said, and I hugged her.

"It's okay, I guess. It's not exactly a perfect color for me, but it is what it is, right?" I asked her and she nodded.

---

Hi. It's Damara, and I am officially freaking out. I just realized that the girl I like has the legendary orange mark. I decided to do my own research on the legends that come with it, and I read over it. I read the legends and it says that the orange mark fell in love with a normal girl from a normal school. A blue. The orange mark male fell in love with a blue mark female, and their love was forbidden because she was normal and he was different. He was of higher power than everyone else.

This girl was in love with him so much that she was willing to give up the chance at a normal life just to be with her one love. Just to be in love forever. One day, he cheated on her and she was devastated. So devastated that she killed him in cold blood.

"No way. Does this mean…" Damara said, and she put her head in her hands, panicking even more.

*THE LEGEND*

Dysio was walking down the hill and looking at his mark, as if it was a curse that would be with him for the rest of his life.

"Need assistance, your royal majesty?" The guard asked him, and he shook his head, walking down to the carriage himself.

"I was wondering if I could, you know, walk out and meet a girl who I could turn and make my queen." Dysio said, and the guard nodded, opening the door to the carriage.

Dysio got into the carriage as the guard closed the door and got on with his duties to protect the highness. Dysio looked outside the window and he saw all these girls, and none of them were good enough for him. He wanted a colorful girl, a girl who would shine out of the rest. A girl who would make him happy for the rest of his life.

"We're here, Dysio." The guard said, opening the door as Dysio sat down at the park bench.

As Dysio wrote about his life in his journal that his mother gave him before death, he notices this girl walking out of her car with her mother and her little sister. She caught his eye. He couldn't stop but to look at her and keep his eyes on her. This girl had beautiful captivating green eyes and long, soft red hair, down to her waist. Dysio walked over to the beautiful maiden, and sat next to her on the bench.

"Hello. What's your name?" Dysio asked her with a little nervous shake in his voice, and she looked straight in his eyes. He knew in this moment that she was the girl he wanted to spend his life with.

"Alia. What's your name?" Alia asked him, and he got pretty nervous.

"Uhm.. Dysio." He said, and she nodded.

"I like that name." Alia said, and Dysio looked at her book that she was reading.

"You like to read?" Dysio asked her and she nodded.

"That's funny, because I like to write. You know, in a journal and all." Dysio replied, and he held his hand out for her.

She took his hand, and so he decided to take her to the beautiful secret lake by the park. He looked at her in the eyes and so she looked at him back. He leaned in for a kiss, and she backed up.

"I don't even know you! Why are you even trying!" Alia shouted and Dysio looked confused.

"I'm sorry. It was very inappropriate and immature of me and I am so sorry." Dysio said, and she nodded. She walked away from him and back to the park.

Dysio knew he screwed up his shot with the fair maiden, but he wouldn't take no for an answer, and so he enrolled into a high school, just to see what she was like in the school environment. He would do anything to get her to be his. And I mean, anything.

*

Dysio walked into the school grounds, knowing it was his first day, and he saw Alia in a beautiful short dress and nice blue heels. Dysio got so overwhelmed that he gulped and looked away. Alia saw him at the school and rolled her eyes, walking away. She went with her friends and told her about the other day when he tried to kiss her.

"I think he's cute, Alia. I think you should give him a chance." Her best friend said, and she gulped in nerves.

"I don't think so. I don't think that's really fair." Alia said, and so Dysio looked down at his textbooks, and he walked over to her.

"Hey, Alia. Nice seeing you again." Dysio said, and Alia looked at him with disgust.

"You tried to kiss me, and we only knew each other for five fucking minutes. Leave me be." Alia said, and Dysio rolled his eyes, staring right into hers.

"You will forget about the kiss, okay? And you two, forget she ever told you about said kiss. Got me?" Dysio said, and they all looked confused at him.

"Who is this guy again?" Alia asked him, and he smiled.

"I was wondering if you would like to go to the lake with me after school today, Alia." Dysio asked, and she nodded with no hesitation.

"Yes, sure." Alia said, and Dysio smiled, walking away from her and her friends.

"Perfect!" Dysio said to himself, and he walked away.

You see, he was a horrible person. He always used his magic to get whatever he wanted, no matter who it hurt. He always used his compulsion so he wouldn't own up to his mistakes, and he was a conceited man. He only cared about what made him happy, no matter the outcome.

He decided to skip school for the day and get himself ready for the date with Alia.

"So, did you get yourself situated, majesty? Did you find a girl to marry?" His father asked him, and he nodded.

"Yes, father. She is the prettiest in the land. She makes me happy, father." Dysio replied, and his father was doubting the happy part.

"Let me meet her." His father said, and Dysio nodded.

"I am scheduling a date with her at the lake today. She doesn't exactly know I am royalty." Dysio said, and he smiled.

"Good job, son." His father replied, and Dysio walked out the door, and called Alia.

"Hello, Alia. Are you here yet? I am so excited to take you to that lake today." Dysio said, and she chuckled.

"Yes. I skipped school today just to see you." Alia said, and Dysio smiled, walking out of the room.

Dysio walked out of the house, and decided to walk the lengths to the lake from the palace. He sat down at the side of the lake with Alia and he smiled, blushing when he was looking at her.

"So, Alia, are we a thing now?" Dysio asked her, and she looked at him in confusion.

"Let's see how the day goes." Alia replied to him, and he chuckled.

The date went well. They became a thing, a little relationship thing. Alia believed it was love at first sight. Dysio believed it too. He went to sleep that night, perfectly, knowing that he finally has a girlfriend.

*

It's been a couple of years now, and Alia still has no idea he is royalty, or the prince of the land. He decided to take her back to the lake that they had their first date at. She looked at him with happiness in her eyes and he looked at her with the same happiness.

"So, Alia, I brought you here to ask you an important question. A very important question that could change the rest of our lives." Dysio said, and Alia was listening loud and clear.

"Yes?" Alia asked him, and he brought out a little black box.

"You see, we've been together for three years. We met exactly three years ago." Dysio started saying, and then he started choking up.

"And you make me the happiest man on this earth. You make me so happy I can't even explain the joy you have given me. And so, I was wondering." Dysio started asking, as he got down on one knee, opening the case to reveal a beautiful fancy diamond.

"Will you marry me, Alia Pierce?" Dysio asked Alia, and she started to tear up. She looked at him down on his knee, and started bawling.

"YES. YES! YES!" Alia said, and she hugged him like it was nothing.

He picked her up, and he kissed her, as he slid the ring on her finger. Alia admired the ring for so long, and she couldn't stop crying about the ring and how beautiful it was, and how perfect the moment was.

*

Now, it has been a year, and she found out he was the royal prince. She didn't care about the money, or the royalty status. She gave up a normal life for him, and had no hesitation in doing so. Alia got butterflies in her stomach as she was fitting herself in her wedding dress just moments before their wedding.

"You're gorgeous, Ms. Alia. You know, you're going to become queen of this beautiful nation." The seamstress said to her, and she nodded.

"Yes, of course." Alia replied, and the seamstress smiled, looking at the dress.

"How do you like it, Alia?" the seamstress asked her, and she looked in the mirror.

"It's beautiful. I can't wait to finally call myself Dysio's wife." Alia said, and the seamstress looked at her, worried for her. She knows the problems of Dysio and the anger tempers that come with him.

"I am so happy for you two." The seamstress said, and finished the dress.

"We have fifteen minutes until the wedding now. I am so excited." Alia said with confidence.

*

Alia is standing in front of doors, as her mother helps her with the long beautiful train that Alia chose for her wedding. She adjusts her nice long fish braid, and smiles at the doors. One of the guards open up the door and she walks out and on the aisle in her beautiful pink dress with the long train. She looks straight in Dysio's eyes to see him crying in tears at how beautiful she is.

"I love you Dysio." Alia said, and Dysio smiled.

After the long speech, the priest decides to ask both of them if they will take each other, so they can end the wedding for everyone. And get to the reception.

"Do you take Dysio to be your lawfully wedded husband?" The priest asked Alia, and she stood there, stiff as a stick. She gulps, thinking about whether it's the right thing to do or not. She looks into his eyes.

"I do." Alia said, and Dysio smiled at her and she smiled back in his.

"Dysio, do you take Alia to be your lawfully wedded wife?" The priest said, and he looked at Dysio.

"I do!" Dysio said with no hesitation, looking at Alia with a smile in his eyes.

"Now, I pronounce you two husband and wife. You may kiss the bride, sir." The priest said, and Dysio grabbed Alia and kissed her the best he ever has.

Everyone in the church is applauding, as Dysio grabs her and carries her out of the church together. The mark on her arm turned orange, to resemble that she's royalty and Dysio's chosen soulmate.

*

It's been about three years since their marriage, and since Dysio and Alia got married. Alia has a baby on the way and Dysio is doing his own thing, and not being around very much for Alia, and this was because he had something else up his sleeve that was apparently more interesting.

"Baby, what are you doing home so late? I am due any day." Alia said to Dysio, and he shrugged.

"Sweetheart, I just need sometime to myself." Dysio said, and Alia looked at him with a jaw drop.

"SOME?! YOU LITERALLY SPEND ALL OF YOUR TIME AWAY FROM ME! I'M PREGNANT! I NEED YOU!" Alia starts crying, and Dysio ignores her.

"I hope that baby isn't a bitch like you." Dysio said, and Alia looked into his eyes. He walked away to the other room.

*

About two months later, he came home from his 'royal duties' and looked at Alia as she looked concerned.

"What happened?" Alia asked him, and Dysio just walked away.

*

And this went on for another month. Until a guard received important information about Dysio and his wrongs he's committed during his marriage to Alia.

"Alia, your majesty? We have something to tell you. It's about Dysio." The guard said to Alia, and she nodded, stepping off the throne.

"What is it? Is my husband okay?" Alia asked him, and he nodded.

"He's perfectly okay. There are these pictures to prove it." The guard replied, and handed her pictures upside down with the back showing.

"I am so sorry your royal highness." The second guard said, as both guards left the room.

Alia grabbed the pictures and flipped them over. She sees that they are of him getting dirty with another woman. Her husband is having sex with another woman for the last three months. She didn't know how to feel. Her lungs felt like they were going to collapse, her heart, like it was going to stop, and her eyes like they were going to rain. She all of a sudden dropped to the floor, bursting in tears.

She felt her life falling apart, and so she looked at her mark, and she knew that she is more powerful than her husband. And so, when he came home in a horrible mood tonight, Dysio looked at her, and then tried to walk away.

"Oh no you don't!" Alia said, and Dysio turned around.

"What is it not?" Dysio asked, annoyed and agitated at his own wife.

"I know what you've been doing." Alia said, walking down to Dysio.

"Explain what this is?" Alia asked him, showing him the pictures of his affair.

"She gives me better sex." Dysio said, and Alia started to tear up.

"I am done! With you." Alia said, and she looked at her mark, and at his.

She decided to use her power to kill him in cold blood. Dysio was dead, and the kingdom was left to Alia and her future baby.
