Chapter 1

<p>Anita Baker is a 24-year-old university graduate. She is the eldest daughter in her family and has five younger sisters. Her father works as a banker, while her mother is a trader.<br/><br/>Anita has a fair complexion and a beautifully shaped body with curvy hips. She is the only one amongst her sisters who is white, as the others have a darker, fair brown complexion.<br/><br/>Although Anita resembles her mother, she is considered more beautiful. Her father has sometimes accused her mother of infidelity, questioning whether he is her real father due to her skin color. Despite this, her mother remains silent on the matter and reassures Anita that she is indeed his child.<br/><br/>Her father has even threatened to conduct a DNA test to confirm her paternity, as he cannot understand why she is white unlike her sisters. Anita's immediate younger sister, Flora, who is 22 years old, holds a grudge against her despite being two years younger.<br/><br/>Most of her sisters dislike her, with the exception of Glory, her youngest sister, who genuinely loves her. Despite the saying that blood is thicker than water, in Anita's case, it seems that water is stronger than blood.<br/><br/>Mr. Joshua Baker, Anita's father, continues to send her to school out of suspicion that his wife cheated on him and gave birth to another man's child. Despite his doubts, he supported Anita's education, sending her to study business administration at the university.<br/><br/><br/>Anita felt overjoyed as she completed her final exams and achieved excellent results when they were released. Due to her father's constant accusations against her calm mother, Mrs. Tonia Baker, Anita has chosen not to enter into any relationships with guys who express interest in her as she believes they will eventually betray her, just like her father does to her mother. <br/><br/>Even though her university best friend, Temisa Patrick, suggested that she should give love a chance, Anita refused. She explained, "My father accuses my mother of infidelity, yet he continues to have children with her. Despite my mother's belief that he loves her, his daily insults suggest otherwise." <br/><br/><br/>Anita expressed her feelings to Temisa during their second year at the university. Despite being wooed by handsome and wealthy men, Anita is wary of their intentions. She fears that once they take advantage of her innocence, they will abandon her or falsely accuse her of cheating, mirroring her father's behavior towards her mother.<br/><br/>Anita and her best friend Temisa sat together in a private room, getting ready for their final convocation. Temisa expressed her happiness about leaving school and going back home, while Anita pretended to feel the same way. In reality, Anita dreaded going back home to face her father's insults and her younger sisters' jealousy.<br/><br/> Temisa noticed Anita's sadness and asked her what was wrong, even though she already knew about Anita's dislike for men. Temisa offered to talk to her mother about letting Anita stay with them for her I.T. Anita thanked her and Temisa reassured her, reminding her of her success as a top student. <br/><br/>Temisa then convinced Anita to let her apply makeup, despite Anita's reluctance, in order to make her feel better on her special day.<br/><br/>"Okay," Anita said as she gazed at her reflection in the mirror, while Temisa began applying brown powder to her face. Temisa started with her eyelashes, then moved on to Anita's cheeks and nose, applying the makeup powder. When Temisa finished, Anita was stunned by her new look in the mirror. She had never worn makeup before, and as she looked at her new reflection, she was speechless, understanding why Temisa had so many boyfriends.<br/><br/>Temisa was the daughter of a billionaire, as her father worked for the Benson group of companies. The Benson family was one of the richest in the state. Anita had read about the Benson family and wished she could work for them. This motivated her to study hard and become one of the top graduating students in her university.<br/><br/>Anita had considered asking Temisa to help her apply for a job at the BENSON GROUP. However, she was worried that it might seem like she was seeking a favor she didn't deserve. She didn't want others to think she was a golddigger or someone who used her body to gain favor from men. Anita decided against asking Temisa for help.<br/><br/>"All done now. You look so pretty in the mirror, oh my god! I'm the best makeup artist on campus," Temisa said, fanning herself with her hand as Anita smiled at her.<br/><br/>"Don't hype yourself up too much because of me, girlfriend. Yes, you did a good job, but I still don't like makeup," Anita admitted.<br/><br/>"Tar! Stop it. I hope a handsome guy sees you today and asks you out," Temisa giggled. She was all about guys, changing boyfriends every month like pants.<br/><br/>Temisa doesn't pay attention to what other ladies say about her multiple relationships. She enjoys dating different guys and doesn't believe in love. Even though she's always seen with different guys at the beach, in restaurants, and at the club, she claims to be a virgin. This claim was hard to believe, especially since she dresses in a seductive way with hot outfits like bum-shorts and crop tops.<br/><br/>Temisa and Anita, who are both beauties, are best friends despite their differences in skin color. They are in the same department and study the same course. Anita is known for her intelligence, while Temisa is more into partying.<br/><br/>"Let's head out now, I'm sure our families have arrived," Temisa said as she quickly packed her things into a box. They had been staying in a rented room during the school holiday.<br/><br/>It was their final year, and Anita was preparing to go back home after the awarding ceremony. They stepped out to attend the university's final event, where Anita was awarded first class honors for her academic excellence. Temisa smiled and clapped as her friend went up to receive her award among the crowd of friends and family.</p>
