Long gone

As Rose was busy cooking in the kitchen, Leo continued familiarizing himself with his grandparents as he answered some of their questions, such as what he was studying, what he wanted to become and how schoolwork was going, how he is coping up with the loss of his mother and a few more things.

"Um, Grandma. Grandpa, can I ask you some questions?"

The two elders could easily detect the seriousness and the change in his voice, and they immediately switched to being serious because they felt whatever he was about to ask is something that would require such an atmosphere.

"What exactly happened to my sister? Like her relationship with her parents? And why is she so-called to the outside world and yet warm to me and to you? I just want to know so that I can equally protect her. I know I'm still young, but I know one day I'll be able to stand by her side and protect her, sheltering her away from this tough world."
