It has been 3 months since our young adventurers have started studying at the academy.
The group broke away from their rigorous schedule because this weekend was special. They were heading towards a nearby dungeon to rank up since the EXP points obtained in real battle are significantly higher than what one gets during practice. Hence, the group decided to go do a dungeon dive as a nice change of pace.
Imp's Castle is an A rank dungeon located a near the Capital. Entrance wouldn't be a problem since Rhald who has recently reached A rank was with them. This was the only requirement to gain entry. The twins, Vane and Lest, were also nearing A rank.
They reached the dungeon after a couple of hours of leisurely walking through the countryside. The mouth of the dungeon was located at the base of a mountain. There were easily a hundred adventurers and what looks like a thriving market where food and weaponry was sold. There is even a clinic for injured adventurers.
Since our young heroes have made an appointment months ago, they were able to circumvent the long line of adventurers. Rhald showed his newly minted A rank card to the gate personnel and they were off. Everyone was excited to enter a dungeon for the very first time that they barely paid any attention to the dungeon personnel giving them an orientation.
A magic circle glows on the ground and transfers 7 young adventurers into the dungeon. It was dark and musty. Terrick casts Fire ball which floated mid-air. Althea also casts Light glow which lit the room even more. They haven't walked 50 feet when they happen upon a group of goblins. Without a word, Vane creates an Earth wall around the goblins. Terrick, Ellie, and Lest spam the crater with attacks.
Once they were finished; Rhald, Bryce, and Althea rushed in to finish off the stronger goblins that survived. Bryce was surprised to find that a lot of goblins survived by using elemental magic to shield themselves from the attacks. They were no match for his sword enforced with Dark magic. Rhald was fighting some of the goblin mages whose agility and defensive magic made them harder to hit. Althea used a combination of Explosion magic and Light chains to catch the goblins off guard. Her can now control 10 Light chains per cast. They pierce the goblins like they were wet paper.
A hundred or so goblins are splayed by the end of the encounter. Ellie and Terrick seem to be grinning as they collected the drops, which were mostly coin. Lest and Vane, who came from a rich noble family, only cared for weapons and failed to find any.
They moved deeper into the cave and found an entire city of Imps. After a bit of recon work, they devised a plan of attack. Rhald and Bryce will break through the city defenses. Althea with Lest and Vane will do the majority of the decimation while Terrick and Ellie will search for stragglers.
Rhald creates a Water Bomb and blows the city gate killing tens of imp soldiers in one attack. Bryce seems to be motivated by seeing this and casts Dark Lightning killing the rest of the nearby guards. Using his Dark flicker, he catches and kills a group of imps trying to escape. Vane creates an Earth wave which he rides as he drowns the imps by burying them in the ground.
Meanwhile, Althea uses her new spell Light fall to create hundreds of glowing arrows that shoot the imps with deadly accuracy. This spell has a target lock and homing function.
Lest plays her flute and her Music magic makes all the structures fall apart crushing those hiding inside them. Ellie was using her new enhanced sensing ability to find where the imps where hiding while Terrick blew them apart using Music and Explosion magic. Within an hour, the outer city was completely breached and decimated. Most of the imps that escaped retreated to the inner wall of the city which was more fortified.
The party took their time to recover before trying to breaking in. They know from Bryce's Dark Shadow that there are elite soldiers and strong imp mages waiting for them. There were also a handful of Imp generals. What they didn't expect was the power of the Imp Lord, which was bordering S rank.
