Multiple Activations

Althea's eyes bulged out as she heard the notification. Within a second, she began rising up while her crystal glowed green. Moments later, Bryce catches her flying and rushes right next to her. She was still hovering a good 3 metres off the ground completely shocked at how she just acquired Wind Magic.

If it is true that I have absorbed the mana pool during the ritual then this means I have all the elements within me. If it is anything like how I just achieved Wind magic then all I need to do is try and activate that particular element using my crystal.

"Bryce, I think I may have been granted all the elements…"

Bryce can be seen with dot-like eyes and a single sweat dripping off the side of his face.

She didn't even wait for him to respond. Again, she cycles mana throughout her body while focusing on creating a Fire ball. Her crystal glows red and another notification is heard.

*Congratulations! You have acquired Fire element magic! *

The Fire ball zoomed clear across the meadow until it hit the wall where it temporarily glitched the hologram by showing the original square of white wall for a second before quickly returning to a view of the meadow. By this time, Bryce could be seen in chibi form with a gaping mouth and squiggly lines behind him.

"What the heck?!"

Althea just grinned as she conjured Water magic. A water javelin could be seen forming just above her hands.

*Congratulations! You have acquired Water element magic. *

Bryce was now feeling dejected, sitting and facing the corner of the room. Tears were now pouring out of his eyes like two adorable waterfalls. He was muttering to himself, "Why couldn't I get a stupid glitchy grant that gave me all sorts of magic?!"

Each elemental magic feels different to her. She realized that her crystal glows in accordance to the color of the element she is using. In her rush to figure out which elements she can control, she quickly summoned an Earth golem and a Dark shadow…

*Congratulations! You have acquired Earth Element Magic. *

But wait, what happened to the Dark shadow? It never manifested. She tried another Dark magic skill, one she knew fairly well since she has seen Bryce use it countless times before: Dark Armor. "What?!" Nothing happened!

I don't have Dark element! She thought to herself.

I try to find Bryce who is still sulking in the corner. Muttering something about wanting other cool powers.

"Bryce, I have all the elements except Darkness."

Upon hearing this, his ears twitch. He turns around to see a disappointed Althea. As selfish as he can get, he hates seeing her like this. He probably wouldn't mind giving her some of his Darkness Element if he could. He reminds her that 5 out of six elements is unheard of. She is bound to be a great adventurer. She grins and scratches her head. She tells him that they are bound to be great adventurers together.

"We will become the best adventurers the world has ever known!"

They both smile and pinky swear. Now that they are gung-ho again, they energetically try out new skills and abilities.

What Althea didn't realize was that she needed a certain amount of focus to activate and acquire new element magic. Had she focused more on activating the Dark shadow, she would have succeeded. But at that point, she was also summoning an Earth golem. In fact, she almost called a Dark shadow but it dissipated the moment Althea started controlling the Earth golem. There was, however, an unintended side effect. When the Dark shadow energy dispersed, it released a size-able amount of mana, enough to shake the room and reactivate the video recording function of the practice room. As for why she couldn't activate Dark Armor, that's a story for a different day.

A shadowy figure is shown looking at a panel of video feeds, one of them is the video surveillance of the room where Althea and Bryce are practicing to their hearts' content.

The shadowy figure smirks.

"Well, this is interesting. My Lord would definitely want to hear about this!"

The figure walks out of the dark room into a brightly lit corridor and disappears. The ambient light from the hallway penetrates the room enough to show two dead bodies wearing security guard uniforms splayed out on the floor.
