Chapter 2: Why?

Sitting on the back of a large bird that was the same size as a small plane was something Mave couldn't even imagine.

After the Green Cloud sect finished testing most of the kids in town, they only found three people with orange cultivation talent, 10 with normal red cultivation talent, and 25 with light red level talent.

When Mave got onto the giant bird, he could see, on the other bird only those with orange and normal red talent were getting on, along with some green cloud disciples.

One of the green cloud disciples came up to them when they got on the bird and told them the correct way of holding onto it to not fall off.

Before he left, he told them in a mocking voice that was full of pity and mockery, "Oh yea, one last thing, honestly, if I were you, I would've just chosen to become an ordinary mortal instead of being a servant. Also, don't let go,"

With that, he left, and soon all the new 'servants' got a bad feeling in their stomachs.

This was further confirmed when they noticed there were no disciples on their bird to drive it.

Before Mave could even think further, the giant bird flew up, and he had to hold on to its feathers for his dear life.

The bad feeling in his stomach got even worse.

Looking at the disciples on the other bird, Mave could see a smile of mockery and scorn on their faces.

The gentle faces they showed in the town were all gone, and all that was left was a face of delight and mockery.

And behind them, the new disciples were looking at them with slight guilt.

As if they had known what was going to happen.

All this flashed in Maves as the bird slowly got faster and faster, heading to what he assumed would be the sect.

"AHHHHHH"

"NOOOO"

"FUCKKK"

Screams everywhere, as everyone held on for their dear life as they knew no one would save them why they fell.

Eventually, both physical and mental fatigue started hitting their minds.

As most of them were just kids around 13, they didn't have the strength to hold on for hours.

On the back of the bird, one of the kids was crying in beside Mave.

His arms were shaking, and his face was pale and full of fear.

Soon his hands couldn't hold on any longer, and he was thrown off...

Before the kid could process what happened, the kid felt some pain, and then nothing.

Mave had seen that whole process from the kids letting go to him splatting on the ground.

With how fast they were going, it would be certain death to let go.

After who knew how gods long, the bird slowed down a bit, and they could finally catch a little breather.

Just before they could completely relax.

The bird sped up again, going even faster than last time.

'FUCK ARE THERE TRYING TO KILL US' Mave roared in his mind.

'Could the green cloud sect be an evil sect? No, even if it were, they wouldn't go through all of this to kill some insignificant kids'

Suddenly, the words of the green cloud disciples said just before the bird started flying came to Mave's Mind.

The disciples said he would rather live the life of a mortal than a servant.

Suddenly, the bird screeched loudly, and before them, some mountain peaks appeared, which was most likely the green cloud sect.

If it were before, Mave would've appreciated their beauty, but now the feeling of doom and despair got stronger the closer he got to the sect.

Soon they reached the sect and were dropped from the bird.

By drop, they were literally dropped from a height of 30 meters.

And from the sounds that were heard from people dropping, a couple of people broke some bones.

As Mave slowly stood it, he could feel a pain in his right shoulder blade, which was the part that was the most impacted by the fall.

Soon the screech of more birds was heard and looking up, Mave could see over a dozen birds flying to where he was.

Pushing through the pain from his shoulder, Mave quickly ran away from where he had just fallen.

A couple of others also did what he did.

Because not a minute later, what looked over a hundred people were thrown from the birds, and some landed at the spot where Mave had landed.

The loud noise of yelling, screaming, and crying was everywhere.

Mave even felt that he had gone to a battlefield for a moment.

"Quit! You dam trash!" A voice shouted strangely sounding everywhere.

Immediately everyone quieted down.

They could practically feel the loathing that voice had for them.

As for why it hated them, they didn't know.

Soon the door opened, and what Mave assumed were disciples of the sects came out vast boxes of small booklets and pill bottles.

"Now all of you are to get in line and take a booklet, and to some pills bottles, once everyone gets one, you will all be taken to your rooms," The voice said calmly, ignoring the sobs of those who broke their bodies in the fall.

No one spoke or moved.

"What are you waiting for? Do you want to die?! Ugh, I hate this task," The voice said with thick annoyance.

Mave and some others immediately started to move to the group of white-robed disciples.

Mave didn't even dare directly look at them and just took the small booklet and pill bottles.

Looking around, Mave spotted some unlucky people who had broken their legs or hips from the fall.

There were even a couple of them crying while crawling on the ground to get in line.

One of the white robbed disciples stepped up and started explaining to them why this was happening.

"Hello fellow servants, my name is Kreig, and I'm out in charge of all the servants, I will be the leader of all of you, so if you ever have any problems, just try to find me," He said a bit awkwardly as he ignored the constant crying of those who broke something.

"Now, welcome to the cultivation world where you'll soon learn that sometimes a mortal has more rights than a servant cultivator."

"The booklet in your arms is a white grade cultivation manual that you will cultivate with, and the bottle of blue pills is are some spiritual gathering pills which you need to unlock your body cultivation potential."

"The green pills are healing pills for those who broke anything or are in pain, and they only work for injures that you've gotten from the past six hours, so use them soon,"

"That'll be all; if you have any questions, try to find me or ask a fellow servant, never try to ask a disciple for anything because the moment you do, your life may as well be over,"

"Follow me to where your new home will be," Krieg said and started leaving with the other white-dressed servants.

Everyone quickly followed him, not wanting to be left behind, and those who had broken something quickly swallowed the green pill.

As for Mave, he just quietly followed Kreig and the other servants.

He would instead save the healing pills because he had a feeling they would be used a lot.

After following Krieg and the other white-dressed servants for a while, they arrived in what looked like a giant dormitory made out of wood and stone.

Looking at it, Mave felt it looked more like a prison than a dormitory.

They were soon all given a key with a number on it and tasked to find their dormitory independently.

For Mave, this wasn't that difficult because he had noticed that some of the dormitory buildings had a large number on them.

After around 15 minutes of searching, he finally found his room.

Opening the door, he found a room with six beds, and three of them were currently filled.

It looked like they were cultivating.

Making sure to be careful, Mave slowly closed the door.

Looking at the beds, he found one with a book on it,

'A Servants Guide to surviving in the Sect.'

'What a weird title,' Thought Mave

Sitting on one of the beds that were in the middle.

Mave slowly put down his booklet and two cultivation bottles and started reading the book that would forever change his view of the cultivation world.

.

.

.

Putting the book down, Mave released a depressed sigh.

As a person from a world of peace and stability, he now knew the word sect servant was that much different from being a slave.

Which this world had.

He now knew why that one disciple told him that his cultivation journey would be impossible.

Cultivation talents were split into red, orange, yellow, green, and blue in this world.

And the darker the color, the better the talent, since he had the worst talent, and the color was so light it was almost pale pink.

His cultivation journey would be impossible and really not worth the struggles he would have to face.

Because those with red talent could never become cultivators without any resources.

The cultivation scale of this world was beginner cultivator Lvl 1-20, and the limit of a 'normal' red talent would get stuck at LVL 15.

Worst of all, the max lifespan of a Lvl 20 cultivator was only 150 years, and if he were lucky to even get to LVL 10, his lifespan would only be 110.

Only 100 years less...

After the beginner cultivator, there was an entry-level cultivator- At this level, you're now considered an actual cultivator, and your life span shoots up to over 200 years.

A person with ordinary orange talent would be able to get to Lvl 25 living at least 400years.

When he learned this, Mave almost couldn't read on.

With how low his talent was, it wouldn't have made much of a difference if he stayed a mortal.

That was because every servant had the same cultivation talent as him.

If he had even ordinary red talent, he would have been chosen as an outer disciple, but he fell just a little bit short.

If his estimation were correct, a regular person would live to at least 100, depending on their lifestyle.

This meant that those with light red talent are were the same as mortals the only difference being that they lived a little longer than mortals.

What's even worse were the rules of a servant in the sect.

Rule 1- The Disciples are always right and you questioning them is punishable by death.

Rule 2- By entering the sect, you have chosen to give up your freedom and have become a servant for life for the sect until you die.

Rule 3- Not following orders or rules is punishable by death.

Looking at these rules, that basically said he had become a slave, Jacob wished he could turn back time and just live as a mortal.

The magical world of cultivation Mave was hoping for was just a fake wish.
