Sid's Manifestation

The ghostly figure before Archie materialized. A young man made entirely of wind stood as a testament to the magical realm. The entity, whose form was constantly shifting and glitching with the dirt and debris that it pulled into itself to maintain the resemblance of a human shape, was an eerie sight.

The whirlwind limbs, elongated mini tornadoes 🌪️, gently swirled with a mixture of dead leaves and twigs, creating a silhouette that was surreal.

"Helllllllooooo, Archhhiiee," the voice echoed around him, a whisper on the wind that seemed to come from the weird windy figure, despite the lack of a mouth.

"Heellloo?" Archie responded, his voice laced with uncertainty. The form before him was definitely something that he had not encountered before; a being that existed between the physical and the ethereal, its voice carrying through without a clear source, can only be found in the movies.

"Are you here to finally communicate?" The question hung in the air, and its significance was not lost on Archie. This entity just answered "no" a second ago, and now here it was before him, trying to talk.

He had been trying to guide and warn him, and finally, this being is manifesting itself; it must have something to say.

"Nooooo tiiiiimeeee, daaannngggeerr, caaannn'ttt staaayyy,"

The figure of wind continued, its form beginning to dissipate even as it spoke, like a malfunctioning, glitching television. The wind that composed its body was growing more turbulent and desperate, as it was clearly struggling to hold the wind together.

"Fiinnndddd cllluuueesss, complete the k-, find meee, freeee ussss,"

It managed; the last words were almost lost to the breeze. The message was cryptic and yet charged with urgency. Archie was ever confused with the manifestation, but he had a hunch that Sid was probably trapped or bound somewhere and needed to be freed.

"Sid, don't leave. I have so many questions, like, Why am I here? Who are you and what are you? What do I have to do to get back to my world?"

"Things are never what they seem. You and I are intertwined by fate. Follow your dreams and find me. And beware the Phantoms."

The last of Sid's cryptic messages was clear and concise. Archie watched as the figure faded entirely, becoming one with the wind once more, leaving behind a trail of swirling leaves and a heavy silence.

The gravity of what had been asked of him settled in his chest. He wondered if he could ever return to earth and live his daily life ever again, become a doctor and finally become a surgeon like he always dreamed of.

Archie's heart sank as he reminisced about his grandfather, friends and pre-med coursemates. His journey had taken on a new purpose—not just to explore this mystical realm and uncover its secrets, but to decipher Sid's message and free him from whatever it was that he was bound to.

Archie took a deep breath and walked away from the dead village with a firm resolve. The adventure ahead of him was fraught with unknown perils. However, he had the desire to unlock the mysteries of this mystical realm and save Sid and himself from this misery.

Although Sid had dematerialized, the whispering wind constantly accompanied Archie as he left the dead mound. As Archie was about to exit the village, he halted at the crossroad with a burning sign. Despite the desolation of the village, the sign was still standing upright, fixed to its post. It wrote, 'ANU'.

A gust of wind blew again, and Archie broke his reverie and continued to walk down the hill back to the village.

In the desolated heart of the village, where the whispers of the past clung to the air like the remnants of his forgotten dreams, Archie can picture the scenes he dreamt throughout his life. He confirmed that this was the place he dreamt of but ravaged through incidents and time.

The sign 'ANU' was kept in his mind, as the name seemed to resonate with him, imbued with meaning yet to be discovered.

Sid had manifested itself and offered hints that were shrouded in mystery. Pebbles came running as a gust of wind blew stronger to form an arrow, showing him the way deep within the forest.

"Where are you bringing me, Sid?" Archie arched his eyebrows as he stopped to look at the makeshift arrow on the ground.

The stones shifted and shuffled to change the shape of an arrow to the word 'Pan-Aram'.

Archie let out a deep, loud and unpleasant sigh. His eyes rolled as his hands shuffled, and his hair was exasperated at the situation that unfolded before him.

"Sid, as much as I want to help you and free you, I need to find food. If I am required to forage in the forest, please lead the way. If you can guide me out of the forest into a civilization, that would be even better. Because, no offence, I think I can get more information communicating with others that are physically present right now; instead of blindly receiving guidance from whispering winds into the unknown, I am very sceptical."

A gust of wind blew and the stones that created the words 'Pan-Aram' attacked him all at once, as they expressed their annoyance at trying their best to help him survive.

"I am sorry, but I am hungry; therefore, I am a little cranky. So before I plan my life here, what is the name of this place? Realm?"

Another gust of wind formed to gather dead leaves, twigs and thin branches to form the word 'Elysium'.

"Elysium? Like a paradise? Well, this looks nothing like one." He rummaged his bag once more and removed the bag of Chinese buns. He planned to use this as bait for incoming animals.

Archie dug holes in the bushes to create several large pits big enough to capture a sheep in different areas, and then covered them with dried leaves, twigs and branches that Sid used to spell 'Elysium'. He placed the buns carefully on top of the pits.

Once Archie finished laying out the traps, he ventured deeper into the forest, hoping to catch a wild fowl or peasant. He is famished and needs sustenance fast.
