Chapter 23

When Alexander made a copy of a soul, everything from body to appearance and color was somehow saved in his memory.

This was why he was able to change so quickly from one form to another.

Switching between saved memories felt for him to just select one form out of a dropdown menu.

"Alexander, can I test the durability of this copy of mine?"

The floating sword was excited that this copy really looked like a perfect replica just like Alexander had promised.

But whether it just looked like its counterpart, or even behave like it were different leagues of replication.

To recreate the essence of a sword was the goal of every master blacksmith.

And if this replica carried Excaliburs essence in itself, this young God just put all of the old master blacksmiths to shame.

"Will you try to destroy it? I will warn you that this is not your typical blade."

The sword did not care at all and flew with its edge pointed at the replica in Alexanders direction.

Excalibur did not care that Alexander was only holding the sword lightly. It just slashed with all of its might against the replica.

With a loud 'ding' the blade left Alexanders hands and after he was disarmed the blade somehow found its way into a wall behind him.

The replica looked bent a little bit and the edge was cracked where Excalibur hit it.

But that was all the damage it received. For his first time copying a holy sword, this was better than what Alexander had expected.

"How did my replica held up in your opinion? I can change some things if you want. This is made out of my own mana after all. I can tweak it however I like."

Excalibur looked defeated. Had the blade cracked or at least lost a good amount of durability it would have been fine for his own self esteem.

However the blade only had minor damage that could be repaired in an instance if mana was added again.

"Lily just what did you feed that boy? The only thing that he did not copy so it seems is my personality.

His blade is not sentient but can still be considered a holy sword.

The angel army that will be equipped with this replica will be very powerful."

"Liliana, without notice of the others in the room, downed her third bottle of alcohol."

After the last sip of the third bottle was emptied, she swayed towards Alexander.

"Fluflyyyy~ are you done now. I wanna go now."

The commotion in the room stopped again. Even the swords felt pitiful for the goddess.

She seldomly drank anything. But now it seemed as if her only way out of the situation was to got drunk to the point where she just didn't care anymore.

"Boy, your sword is pretty good. I have nothing against it, and it makes me proud that my name can be spread in the world again.

I may not be the oldest sword in here, but my name was spread far across multiple countries and stories unlike most of the swords here.

May my body help the world again to vanquish chaos and slay evil."

A single sword in the back of the room seemed to have something on its mind and shouted "Why did the goddess call you fluffy? Is there something between the two of you?"

In an instant many whistle sounds could be heard.

"Ignore them, they have nothing better to do other than watching videos online."

Alexander was lost for words. They had internet access in here?

"I am called fluffy by my own choice. If you know internet jargon, it's to troll my enemies.

Just imagine someone called Alexander the fluffy kicks your ass."

The swords laughed their metal assess off.

"He's a comedian I told you!" came from one of the back rows.

Alexander silently morphed into a slightly bigger wolf form and picked up Lilia.

He got her on his shoulders and wanted to walk off as one particular sword flew in their direction.

"Hold the fuck up little wolf. How can you copy Excaliburs sorry ass and not mine?"

The sword in question had a rough edge and looked completely different to Excalibur.

Where Excalibur looked majestic and royal, this blade looked dangerous but wild.

"This is Dainsleif, Alexander. He likes to watch animal videos on the internet. But it seemed as if he forgot his place in this room and shamelessly floated towards us. Go back Dain, our guest was just about to go."

Dainsleif did not seem to like the way he was talked to.

"He is a great fluffy wolf Excalibur. How can I resist? I want to pet him."

Although the other swords in the room could understand Dainsleifs sentiment, they could still not tolerate it.

"Just go on now young God. I will close the door behind you. Don't worry about the seal. As soon as the door closes it will be reactivated."

Excalibur did not want to give Dainsleif any room to pet him.

It was sad for the blade, but if every sword got his own wish fulfilled, they would be in this room for at least a few days.

"Thank you for letting me make a copy of you Excalibur. It was an honor to meet you holy swords."

With everything said and done, Alexander walked out of the room with Liliana on his back and walked to the front door of the armory.

There was a pretty looking teleportation formation that Alexander wanted to try out.

He wanted to test if his guess was right that Liliana had just made him walk an extra hour to just flex on his ascension to the other angels and gods in the temple.

If she did, he wouldn't let her pet him for at least a week.

Alexander smirked and activated the formation with his mana.

Just as he expected, he came out in the great hall in the main lobby behind the secretary.

That was the last straw. No cuddling for a week for her.

The secretary angel was shocked that the incoming teleport came from the heavenly armory.

That formation could only be activated from the inside of the room so that meant that Liliana and Alexander entered it.

"Can you take care of her for me? As I talked to the holy swords, she downed three or more bottles of her alcohol."

She just silently took the goddess into a princess carry and looked at Alexander in awe.

He looked majestic in his wolf form.

Handsome could describe his human form. But majestic was definitely the better word for this form.

"Are the angels ready that I ordered?"

What was this? Is heaven now a fast food restaurant or what?

In an instant, the newfound respect that she had for Alexander went back to a subtle hatred for him.

How could he just order her and the goddess around.

Liliana drank herself into the state she was in right now exactly because of that attitude.

With a defiant look she just answered "They wait for you at the front gate. Take them with you and do your thing. Now go, I have to take care of Liliana."

This was the first time that he had seen the secretary angel so angry he believed.

Maybe he had to treat her differently from now on.

But all he wanted to know right now was if his request was already finished.

Not knowing what he did wrong, Alexander walked out of the temple to find the 51 angels he ordered standing in formation at the front gate.

He walked over to them in his wolf form, but quickly changed back to his human form to talk to them.

"Hello, My name is Alexander Ashford. From now on I am your commander. I specifically asked for 51 of you so that one of you will lead the other 50. Is there already an angel fitting the description of a leader?"

Two angels stepped forward and introduced themselves to him.

Alexander would be able to remember their names for now, but he would surely forget them as soon as he got a thousand angels under him.

To just number the regiments through was more efficient.

The two could not decide between them so Alexander just elected them both to leader.

As the next batch of angels arrived, one would just hop over to the second regiment and take it over.

"I don't know if this got told to you. But I am responsible to arm you. Every single one of you will get a replica of the holy sword Excalibur that I will make."

With that he took the first one out he made and created a second one for the other leader.

"To not strain myself right now, I can only provide 10 blades for now. The other just have to be present or cast magic. Is everything clear?"

""YES, GOD ALEXANDER""

Oh? So, they know that he was already a God? Liliana must have let them know beforehand.

That explained why they behaved so well and just followed orders.

It was all they ever did, following the orders of a God.

Kind of sad if one thought about it, but what could he do? They needed to fulfill the role of angels.

He was just the trigger that commanded them into a direction and gave them the tools to do so.

"NOW MY ANGELS, LET US DECEND. DO NOT HIDE YOURSELF. SHOW THE WORLD THAT WE ARE THERE TO PROTECT AND KEEP ORDER.

LET TODAY MARK THE RETURN OF GOD."

The angels had bright smiles on their faces. Alexander was not lying when he said that today marked a special day. He was the first God to walk the earth in many millennia.

""UNDERSTOOD"" they shouted in unison.

For the first time Alexander led an entire legion into battle.

He has seen many movies depicting it and even had some first hand experience as his parents were always the guild leaders in every game, they naturally took care of this kind of stuff.

He was always the one to follow.

Now he finally did something on his own while also not giving a damn about the consequences.

No one but the gods and some military officials saw coming what happened next.

Alexander wanted the gate of heaven to open above Germanys capital.

As this was his home country and also the place he would conquer first, Alexander wanted to make a large impact on the world.

While discussing his little plan with the angels that waited with excitement until the gate finally opened trotted from left to right as they could not stand still.

For ages, angels only led the souls of the dead towards heaven and that in a discrete way.

The belief in any God dwindled in the last century out of the technological revolution.

Even the angels that later got access to the internet and followed every trend there exited, could not be angry at the people.

There was nothing they could do to convince them that the gods existed, they were even forbidden to show themselves. The angels of today were just too weak to go against the human military anymore.

Now that Alexander was ready to descend and declare holy orders, the angels were finally given the chance to act in person and have a feasible chance of winning.

The angels that were already equipped with their holy blades took the vanguard while the others carried a staff that boosted their casting speed of magic.

Twenty minutes after creating the massive gate to heaven, Alexander decided that it was finally time to for things to go down.

"Just so everyone gets it, the vanguard will descend first while the rearguard will cover for them.

Position yourself in a half circle around the gate and wait for me. Is that clear?"

It was time. The massive gate opened and with a ""Clear"" from the angels, Alexander spoke the final command.

"DESCEND!!!"

Not waiting for even the word to finish leaving Alexander mouth, the first angels went through the gate followed by the rest of them.

'I hope everything goes the way I planned it to.'
