Of course, after I caught my breath, the rest of his intention came crashing down on me.
"So, being with the others and showing them attention… that's part of the game?" I said quietly, trying really hard not to focus on what exactly he'd be doing to other women and what that might mean.
He nodded. "I'm going to expedite this process. By the time you're back on your feet, I'll have the Select down to four or five and—"
"David, we talked about this. You can't! Those poor women. If these people are making assassination attempts on me while I'm with you, imagine what they'll do to them when they're not in the Palace anymore!"
