Chapter 11

Angelica Godhart POV

I looked at the kids infront of me, I looked at their hearts. Or rather their souls, I could read a person's soul and perceive what they felt. There was no being in this world who could obscure the truth from me. Apart from one person, Reinhardt.

I looked at Reinhardt and he looked right back at me, those unfaltering crimson eyes that were filled with nothingness. It was the complete opposite of the kids infront of me who's eyes and even their souls were filled with love for me.

'Wow, how boring, but why don't I have some fun with this? I wonder how they'd react if I ignored them to talk to Reinhardt instead of them?'

"Please excuse me for cutting this conversation short, I must greet Reinhardt. I'm sure you can understand my situation."

I could speak to him like this because we were supposed to be 'friends.' Of course he didn't see me as that, it was a bit annoying but time would be a useful tool in changing his opinion, he might even swear his loyalty to me if I play my cards right. It would be fun having one with the blood of the Dragon's below me would it not?

I walked over to Reinhardt and curtsied.

"It's nice to see you again, how are you? It's been a while since I last you, why don't we catch up on each others lives a little bit?"

I looked at his soul once more, but this time there was a difference. That nothingness was still there, I smiled at him warmly. It would be fun to turn him into my toy, there was so much fun to be had so I couldn't help but smile.

Reinhardt POV:

'This fucking princess, she's really going to use me as a way to rid herself of her boredom? Well I suppose I can play along.'

I smiled at her words, of course I didn't actually feel anything from it but I assumed that this would help with her little game. We held a regular conversation, she filled me in with not so important details of her day to day life and I did the same. We couldn't have any real conversation due to this being a semi public event but it still showed everyone our 'bond.'

Honestly it played out rather nicely for me as well, the closer I seemed to Angelica the better. It would increase my influence as it would show that I was close to the heir of the Empire on a personal level. Even if I was associated as a part of her faction that would be fine. After all, there had been cases where a Godhart joined an Avalon's faction. So the opposite would also be perfectly acceptable, and Angelica was a strong leader in the game so it would be fine to follow her leadership if need be.

The boys who were talking to her earlier had their mouths agape, her smile was indeed something that could be considered a wonder of the world. Her face was also pretty, I'm not entirely sure on how everyone grades people's looks but she would probably rank among the best looking of people regardless of your preference.

The boy's awe turned into envy as he realised why she was smiling.

'She likes him?-'

That was was probably what he was thinking, of course he was completely wrong but neither I nor Angelica were bothered to correct him. He stomped off, his face made a scowl as he looked at me with disdain.

Half an hour later, I was simply walking through the hall tasting some of the foodstuffs. I then heard some noises, screams that were muffled.

"Cover her mouth with a cloth. We don't want her to get anyone's attention."

I took a peak at the boy's, there were around twelve of them. There was someone who's face had several bruises on it, their arms had several large wounds and one of their legs seemed to be broken. Blood was gushing from their legs and arms, tears were flowing down their brutalised face, they were in a horrific state.

'What the hell? I don't remember this ever being in the story. I suppose I'll have to watch for a bit longer.'

I took a good look at the kid who was backed against a wall, I looked at their hair. It was navy blue, I looked at their eyes. They were the same amethyst eyes that Lillian had. It turned out that it her who was in that pitiful state.

'I wasn't expecting this, this'll probably become a source of trauma. No, it definitely will, I suppose I can't let this go on for any longer. Although it's annoying, if I can protect her I'll be able to make her trust me more than she already does.'

"Oi, you fucking shitheads, what the hell do you think you're doing?"

??? POV:

I heard a voice come from behind me, another ant was here to annoy me. First there was that guy who got in my way when I was having a conversation with the Princess, then I came to this bitch to vent my stress. Now someone's trying to get in the way of that?

I'm the son of an Earl, even some of the higher ranking nobles can't talk to me like this. I've been called a genius mage, or Mana manipulator or whatever you want to call it. It didn't take me very long to awaken, I'm also extremely intelligent. I may sound narcissistic but even my teachers acknowledge it. As such, Angelica was the ideal woman for me, she was perfect in every way imaginable. We were both perfect humans, so we were destined to be together, that's how it should be. The world is simply below me.

But then why? Why on earth was I so scared right now. The white haired boy from earlier had manifested a pitch black sword out of nothingness, it seemed to be a katana. I flowed Mana through my body, I stepped forward and punched with all my strength. This would be enough to kill him, but who cared? I sure as fuck didn't.

"Your heads are raised far too high, don't get conceited you scum."

Then I felt something press down on me, everyone in the hall felt it. Everyone was on the ground, kneeling, I attempted to look up at him. But all I saw was a manifestation of death itself, I forced more Mana around my body, but it was of no use.

'What on earth is that thing?-'

A terrfying, oppressive force pressed down on the entire hall. It seemed to be concentrated on me and my friends, it constricted us and made it impossible for us to move. Beads of sweat could be felt rolling down my forehead.

But the most terrfying thing was that I couldn't sense his Mana or his core. If he didn't release his killing intent I would never have noticed him.

I was a high noble, I should've had a long and comfortable life. Yet It seemed I was about to die, the boy came to me and crouched down and grabbed my head. His grip made me want to scream in pain but the pressure made it impossible to do so. I took a better look at him, white hair and crimson eyes.

His crimson eyes were shining, they possessed a bottomless pit of nothingness. I felt his grip strengthen, he smashed my face into the ground, then an armoured figure came out of nowhere and swung his sword at the boy.

The boy struck the armoured figures wrist and stole the man's sword. He kicked the man's chest, and he left a huge dent in it.

He focused his attention on the armoured rigure, the armoured figure was a knight. A knight under the service of my family!

'I'm saved!'

"I do not know who you are, nor do I care, but I'll kill you for the state you have placed the young master in."

The knight spoke with pride and rage, however the boy wasn't even paying attention to him he just nodded and plainly spoke.

"Right..."
