Chapter eight

(Matthew's POV)

By the time the sun was fully set, my mate had fallen asleep in my arms. We had changed positions and sat on the floor and she had tucked herself into my side with a cute blush; much to my delight.

I release subtle traces of my aura to scare whatever rogue that was near us as I carry her back to my car. Each step I take causes electrifying friction between us and the way she snuggles into me with an adorable pout on her face made my heart melt. When did I become so mushy, wait don't answer that?

I reach my car and slowly place her on her feet but she whines and climbs me like a koala bear and falls asleep again. I had been carrying her bridal style before but now she is wrapped around me and the little pervert in me is rearing its head out. This was going to be tricky. Well, screw it, I'll just drive with her on my lap.

As soon as the thought passes through my mind, a slight shiver racks my spine and my brain decides to bring up as many scenes as possible.

"Urgh." I groan. This is going to be a long drive.

.........

As I got close to her house, I turned off my headlights and ignition and drove quietly. I don't want anyone to get her more flustered until she's ready to handle it. If she isn't, I'm taking her elsewhere.

This was the most painful drive of my life. My poor d!ck was semi-hard which just meant a long cold shower after this. It's like she's trying to kill me or rather, drive me beyond insane with how she moves on my lap. She also makes sleepy moaning sounds that just add to my predicament.

I park my car a few blocks away from her house and take a deep breath. I need to move her to the passenger seat; else her mother will castrate me.

"Cassandra, Cassandra wakes up, Cassandra," I call as I tap her and she comes awake with a yawn.

"What happened?" She draws as she looks around with sleep in her eyes.

"I brought you home but you'll have to move to the next seat before we reach your house." I will explain.

She looks confused for a few seconds before her eyes widen and she looks down. She looks back up and her face takes on an alarming red shade.

"Oh my God." She whispers and covers her face with her palms. As much as I'd like to point out how edible she looks; my control was slipping and I needed her off my lap before I did something she might regret.

"Baby doll, I need you to move to the next seat please."

(Cassandra's POV)

Baby doll. He just called me a baby doll while I'm in his lap. I'm gonna combust if he says that again.

What is wrong with me. I've always seen the men as stupid heartbreakers and there I was, behaving like a bride on her wedding night. I have to get off his lap.

I removed my hands from my face and opened my mouth to apologize, only for the apology to hook somewhere in my throat as I stare at his gorgeous face.

His eyes are closed and his fists are clenched. He looks like he is struggling with something; like he is in pain. Maybe I'm too heavy, I should take my weight off him a little.

But I'm not ready to get off his lap, it's too comfortable. I slide forward and his hands move to my hips and I feel him tense up. "Maybe it's uncomfortable like this, I'll move back." I think to myself.

I slide back and his hands tighten on my hip as he clenches his jaw which just made him look hotter.

I take a deep breath. Okay, I'm making him more uncomfortable, I'll move left. He released a low growl. I slide to the right and he growls louder causing me to jump and he groans.

"Stop, stop moving." He begs in a pained tone and for some reason, my heart constricts. After a few minutes of uncomfortable silence, his grip on my hip eased and he relaxed into his seat.

"Now slowly get up and move to the next seat." He says. I did as he said and sat in the passenger seat with a heavy heart. I like being on his lap, it was so warm and safe; now I feel cold and unwanted. I look out the window as he drives to my house in silence.

It is dark and I can see my mother, Michelle, and her boyfriend sitting on the porch. Mich was snuggled In his arms while mom was tapping her feet on the floor and her face in her palms. They all looked up at the sound of the car and stood up but stayed in place.

"Cassandra, are you okay?" Matthew asks and I nod but avoided looking at him. "Look at me." He says but I ignore him. I'm not going to embarrass myself again.

"Baby doll, please look at me." He pleads. The sadness in his voice has me turning to face him with warm cheeks.

"I'm sorry about earlier. It's just that you were moving a lot on my lap and it could have led to something you might not be ready for." He says with an apologetic expression.

"Lead to what?" I ask in confusion. "I thought I was too heavy; I moved so that you would get comfortable." I will explain.

He looked at me in bewilderment and smiled but it looked unsure. "Are you serious?" He asked and I nodded. The smile dropped and he searched my face with narrowed eyes for a few seconds before he chuckled and rubbed a palm down his face.

"Okay. Anyway, I'm sorry for making you feel bad." He says. How did he know how I felt? Damn my expressive face.

"It's okay," I said and smiled to reassure him. He smiles too and takes my hand in his. The contact made me relax into my seat and sigh in contentment. I'm going mad.

"I'd like to take you out one of these days when we're both free. What do you say?" He asks in a hopeful tone. As if I can say no to that with his hand on mine and our closeness clouding my brain.

"Of course, I'd like that," I reply and he grins. I felt my heart swell at the fact that I'm the one to bring out that heart-stuttering smile.

"Great. Let's go face them before your mother boils me for dinner." He says and we laugh as we alight from the car.

"Aww, you should have let me open the door for you." He whines and I laugh again.

"You can do that on our date," I say cheekily and he chuckles and slings an arm around my shoulders.

"Cassie, Cassie are you alright?" My mother asks as she checks my body for any injuries; even the inside of my mouth.

"Mom, I'm ok okay. I just needed some time alone." I say as I unconsciously snuggle into Matthew's side.

"Well, you weren't alone as far as I can see." She says and narrowed her eyes at Matt who tenses up.

Is he scared of Mom? HA!!

"Hands off my daughter." She says in a stern tone and drags me out of his arms and to her side.

The abrupt separation is surprisingly painful. It's like placing a band-aid on my bare skin and then yanking it off in one go. I had to wrap my arms around myself before I do something stupid like cry.

I see his jaw clench but apart from that, he looks calm. "He's my best friend ma'am" Michelle's boyfriend pipes in as he waltzes over and slings his arm around his shoulders.

"Whatever." She said in a sassy tone that made me smile. She might be hiding something from me but she's still my cute audacious mother.

"Are you okay baby? Please don't be upset with Michelle. You know she didn't mean it." She says to me and I was about to retort when I see Michelle's distraught figure as she moves to stand in front of me.

"I'm very sorry Cassie." She says in a hoarse voice; probably from crying too much and my heart melts the stupid heart. "I swear I didn't mean it. I was just upset at your tone and said those words but I promise I didn't mean them. Please forgive me; don't stop being friends with me." She cried and the last statement was followed by tears. I pull her into my arms and rock her as she cries into my shirt.

"It's okay, it's okay. I was rude to your boyfriend and for that, I'm sorry too. And for the record, I'm happy you've found someone. I was just mad that you didn't tell me until today and I haven't seen you in a while. I'm sorry Mich." I whisper into her ear as her cries subside and hiccups escape her.

She pulls away and her boyfriend takes her into his arms and whispers some words that cause her to relax.

What a dramatic day.

I move back into my mother's arms and she scowls at Matthew before walking back to the house with her arms securely wrapped around me. I twist my neck backward and smile at how upset he looks. His eyes lights up when he catches my stare and he smiles and gives me a short wave.

"Goodnight!" I yell and wave back just before we enter the house and mom bangs the door shut. I snicker and run up to my room before she can ask any question.

She doesn't like him. This is going to be fun.
