Chapter 34: First Love Comes Looking

Meng Ning and Fu Tingxiu were people from two different worlds. Now, in Meng Ning's eyes, he was someone who belonged in her world. Only people from the same world could be considered equals.

A woman who even insisted on splitting living expenses equally clearly demonstrated that she was an independent individual who refused to take advantage of others.

Fu Tingxiu had checked the dating website and confirmed that there was indeed someone with the surname "Fu" who had gone on a blind date with Meng Ning that day. He believed that Meng Ning genuinely mistook him for someone else. Therefore, he wanted to continue understanding her world using his current identity.

"Just keep your mouth shut," he told Fu Boxuan.

After washing the dishes under Fu Tingxiu's supervision, Fu Boxuan was promptly sent away. Meng's mother and Qin Huan didn't stay long either, leaving shortly after lunch.

Fang Qiong wanted to stay longer, but seeing that she was the only guest left and receiving subtle hints from her eldest son, she also found an excuse to leave.

Once everyone had left, Meng Ning finally had a chance to open Qin Huan's wedding gift. She was relieved she hadn't opened it in front of Fu Tingxiu because it turned out to be a set of lingerie.

Meng Ning picked up the thin material with her fingers, wondering what it could possibly cover. This was just like something Qin Huan would do.

"Meng Ning," Fu Tingxiu's voice called from outside. Meng Ning quickly hid the lingerie.

"What is it?" she replied, walking out.

Fu Tingxiu hesitated before saying, "Could you help me order that milk tea you got me last time? The same one with full sugar, warm."

Seeing his serious expression, Meng Ning thought it must be something important. She smiled, "No problem. That was T-Plus's taro ball milk tea. I really like it too."

She took out her phone to place the order. "Can you finish a large cup?"

"Yes, a large cup," he confirmed.

Meng Ning smiled and quickly placed the order. When she looked up, she saw Fu Tingxiu had brought out his laptop.

"Take a look at this," he said, opening a webpage. It was a job listing for a jewelry designer from Shengyu Group's jewelry company.

"They're actually hiring designers," Meng Ning said excitedly, browsing through the job requirements. "High school diploma, just a passion for design is needed, no experience necessary with internal training available, and outstanding performers even have opportunities for overseas training. Fu Tingxiu, what's your boss thinking, hiring people without experience?"

These conditions seemed like they were tailored just for her; she fit the requirements perfectly.

"Design is about creativity and innovation. Rigid thinking can't produce good designs," Fu Tingxiu continued, sounding very serious. "Sometimes, people with no experience can bring fresh ideas."

Meng Ning nodded, "That makes sense."

"Here's the application link," Fu Tingxiu pointed to the page. "You can fill in your information and apply for the interview. The process includes an initial interview and a second round. They're only taking three candidates this time."

"Only three spots? The competition must be fierce," Meng Ning felt nervous. "Can I do it?"

Fu Tingxiu smiled, "Drop the last word. You can do it."

His encouragement felt like a warm breeze in March, uplifting her spirits.

Meng Ning clenched her fist and encouraged herself, "I can do it."

They exchanged smiles, and Fu Tingxiu said, "Go ahead and fill out the application."

Meng Ning started filling out the form, feeling both nervous and excited. Taking this step might help her achieve her dream.

Once she completed the application, the delivery arrived with the milk tea.

Just as Fu Tingxiu was halfway through his milk tea, he received a call and had to leave urgently for work.

Left alone at home, Meng Ning began preparing for the interview. Her phone rang—it was an unfamiliar number. Without thinking much, she answered, "Hello, who is this?"

"Meng Ning, I'm at the entrance of your apartment complex. I want to see you."

It was Gu Changming.

Meng Ning's heart tightened. She gripped her phone and took a moment to steady her voice. "Gu Changming, I'm married now."

"If you don't come out, I'll wait here all day."
