As Elon steps out of his car to meet Mia in the street, Mia seethes with anger. He stands inches away from her, opening his mouth and closing it again, unable to get his words out.
“Were you following me?” Mia tries to keep her voice low, not wanting to draw attention to them.
“I—not exactly.” Elon doesn’t meet her gaze.
Mia rolls her eyes, throwing her arms up in exasperation. “Really? You expect me to believe that your being here is a total coincidence?”
“I came here to apologize, when I saw you leaving with—” He stops, gritting his teeth and looking away.
“Say it." Mia leans in, furrowing her eyebrows angrily. "It was a date, Elon. Believe it or not, my life still continues without you. I don’t have to explain myself to you.”
Elon shakes his head.
“No? After everything, you don’t think I have any right to be upset?”
Mia’s head jerks back. “Not even slightly. You chose to end this, not me.”
Elon scoffs, running his hand through his hair as he paces slightly.
