New Transfer Student

''…...''

Instantly, all eyes that did not even notice her presence in the hallway, zoned on her frozen figure. Calla could feel herself getting a headache because of this woman's sudden action.

'Why did she come to here?' She wondered, turning around to meet the owner of the cheery voice, Rose Collins.

Two days ago, She and Rose Collins never crossed path in the university, much less at the mansion.

Why did the woman come to her department?

And for what exactly?

If it was to say hello, Calla never believed Rose to be an innocent person. Anyone from the high society could never be truly innocent.

''Miss Anderson, do excuse my actions. I have always wanted to visit you in your department, but never had the time.'' Closing the distance between them, Rose went on as if oblivious to the dazed stares on her figure.

''…..''

''How are you doing, Miss Anderson?'' Upon getting to Calla's front, Rose stretched out her fingers about to touch Calla's fingers, holding onto the books out of concern.

But…..

Calla took a step backward, avoiding her hand with a subtle flinch.

''…...'' For a moment, Rose looked stunned before she took back her hand, trying to cover up the embarrassment with a forced smile on her lips.

''It seems you hate people touching you, Miss Anderson.''

''...'' Still not saying a word, Calla suspiciously eyed Rose. Her gaze then shifted to the people behind her back.

Lacy and her two friends.

It wasn't only Calla that was surprised to see Lacy and her two friends with the beautiful Rose Collins. Other spectating students were also in shock.

As far as they knew, Lacy was never one to be behind someone.

And yet, she willingly gave her spot to the new transfer student, Rose Collins.

'…..It's best if I stay away from her until she leaves..' Calla mentally noted to herself. Distancing herself from this woman portraying the image of an innocent lady was the best and safest.

*Ding*

The dragging sound of the bell went off in the quiet hallway. This was a signal for the start of the academic periods of the day. Realizing this, students reluctantly took their eyes off the five people of their attention, and begrudgingly walked down the hallways to their various classes.

Though the bell did not stop them from discussing about what transpired in murmurs.

''Miss Anderson.''

''….?'' Calla also wanted to leave for her classes, but this Rose Collins didn't seem to give up on why she truly came to her department.

''See you at home.'' Rose waved. Her warm smile made it seem like she did not have any true intention of exposing part of their lives to the public.

''Did you see what happened in the morning?''

''Yes, the masked freak and the beautiful rose?''

''Haha….that sounds like a title of a story.''

''But seriously, do they actually live together?''

''I think so…I mean why would the transfer student say 'see you at home.' ''

''She even called the masked freak 'Miss Anderson….'

''Ughhh…I wish I hadn't left for class in a hurry.''

''Wait…does that make freak a child from the big city?''

''Yeah, that's true. If she was one, why does she come to this university?''

''The transfer student is also a person from the big city.''

''I heard Prince Vincent is the same.''

''He didn't come today again?"

''I haven't seen him on a campus in a while.''

''I heard he's really sick.''

''So we won't be seeing him….that's a little sad.''

'….What a mess.' Calla sighed to herself. All because of some words from Rose Collins, many of her course mates were one step closer to her past which she tried to avoid at every cost.

Her plan was just to graduate from the university without anyone knowing of her past. Now, that seemed like a dream very far away from her reach because of those words from Rose Collins.

Packing up her stuffs, Calla ignored the curious gazes on her on the side of her face. She then stood up and descended the set of stairs by her side.

Regardless of her presence in class, people still gossiped as though their voices weren't audible to her ears.

''Did you hear?''

''Yeah she's a child from the big city.''

''I wonder how Lacy will react to that….''

''Yeah, I wonder too…''

''I wonder if Prince Vincent is also the same. Maybe he and the freak knew each other way back then.''

''Then, it doesn't make sense why they are talking now if they actually know each other…''

It was also the same as in the hallway. Many gossiped to their heart's content like she was an invisible person to them.

Opening up her locker, Calla's gaze first landed on the plastic bag with a red-cross sign. The faint scent of drug drifted her nostrils.

'He didn't come today….' Arranging her books on one side, she thought of the handsome blond worshipped by many females as a prince.

'Should I send a message or call him?'

She and Vincent were somewhat acquainted with each other, given the wonderful family of dogs he took care of and brought to her attention. He was also a very kind gentleman, who patiently lend his ears when she just needed someone to listen to her words. Calla wanted to return the favor, but she had no idea how to go about that.

The first thought in her head was to get drugs from a pharmaceutical store and give it to him on Monday. However, there was no sign of Vincent in the university according to the gossipy course mates of hers.

''Attention students! Attention students! The head of the department has an announcement to make generally. Please halt whatever it is you are doing, and listen attentively to the announcement.''

''Attention students! Attention students…..''

The sound of a masculine voice coming from above attracted the attention of the students in the hallway. After shutting her locker, Calla turned around and looked up to the speakers affixed to the wall, patiently waiting for the announcement.

''Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. I won't be taking much of your time with this announcement. The university board has decided to surprise the entire department with a trip to Manhattan of New York City. I repeat, the university board has decided to surprise the entire department with a trip to Manhattan of …..''

''Woah!''

''So we are going to the big city!''

''What trip? Our university is that generous? If they are, they should do something about the dorms. The water pipes are bad!''

''What should I wear? OMG! This is my first to the big city!''

While the students had so many positive and negative reactions to the announcement made by a female voice, Calla's face paled beyond recognition at the mention of the name 'New York city,' that many referred to as big city.

New York city

One of the richest, famous and populated cities in the state, and also one of the regions where mostly the influential and wealthy could be found in the entire state.

Her family….was of no exception.
