Chapter 145

"It s been years," He started. But I don t need to ask you how you are doing because I know how well you have done for yourself," he said, almost with a tinge of jealousy.

"I believe you have done equally well for yourself too," she said rhetorically

He merely smiled. Their order arrived. When the table was all set, the waiter bowed and took his leave.

"You still don t eat much." He said, using that tone of familiarity that says he knew so much about her.

"No, I don t," She replied. Then added. Could there be a reason you have summoned me over, after all these years?" She asked coolly

When he didn t reply right away, she continued, "There has to be because you can t just appear after almost a decade for nothing, right? Was it money?" She added.

He stopped midway as he was taking a spoonful of his food into his mouth. He hadn t expected the candor and for a moment that had caught him off guard. Then he smiled as he resumed eating.
