Only Oxygen

Carl tried his best to follow her lead. Separating oxygen from water. But how did he do it?

"You know the water content, don't you?"

Of course, he remembered it. Its chemical formula consisted of hydrogen and oxygen.

"Think of it apart, and you're only absorbing oxygen."

Water comprised two elements. Yet how did he imagine them apart?

But then, he couldn't think anymore. He felt his throat constrict as his oxygen stores were running low.

Miku saw it and immediately helped him. She did something to the shield so that it could again pick up oxygen.

Instantly, his chest cavity seemed to expand, completely filled with oxygen. To dramatize, Carl released a sigh of relief.

"You know I won't kill you." She commented as she saw his overreaction.

"I know, Miku." He replied while holding her shoulder. "I'm just too relieved to finally take a deep breath," he continued. Then he looked around. It was blue and bright. They were ten meters underwater. "It's amazing here."
