Bruce knew that something had to be done. His fear was confirmed when the divorce papers arrived in his office at exactly noon.
He didn't understand why she wanted a divorce. He had only been punishing her for her crime, maybe he had gone a little over board but still he finally forgave her and what he got in return were divorce papers.
He dropped the papers on his desk and sank into his chair.
His mind traveled back to the first day he met Sandra. It had been raining heavily that very day, he was in a cafe waiting for the rain to stop. He had ordered for a cup of coffee and was reading a book. The cafe door opened and closed rapidly, he looked away from his book and his mouth dropped. Everyone in the cafe became aware of the breathtaking blond beauty that walked in, she was drenched in rain water. She had shiny gold sleek hair that fell seductively on her shoulder, the short navy gown she wore glued to her body making her curves more visible, her nipples could be seen pushing against her cloth.
There were series of whistles and perverted words that were thrown to her direction. She had appeared to be extremely nervous and uncomfortable, unsure of her next move, she stood in one spot trying to avoid making eye contact with anyone.
He knew that, that was his chance, he walked over to her.
"You finally made it," He pulled her in for a hug and whispered. "I'm sorry but this is the only way I can help, every man here wants to buy you a drink and take you to bed."
He gave her a reassuring smile and she followed him to his table.
"Thank you" She said and gave him one of the most beautiful smile he had ever seen, her eyes were bright and her dimples deepened. She had perfect dentition. "I'm Sandra."
Bruce had opened his mouth but no words came out, he was dumbstruck, her beauty was unreal, with the water rolling down freely from her hair down to her neck then down to her breast, it was at that moment that Bruce knew that he wanted her in his life and he would keep her at all cost.
Bruce ran his hand through his hair as he came back to reality, he now knew what to do.
He picked up his phone and telephoned home.
"Hello father, there's a problem...."
.......,,,,,,,,
The Morgan Seniors lived in a beautiful mansion in Quebec. It had a majestic front gate that screamed royalty and an impressive well kept back garden.
The gate clanged loudly as it opened, their car drove through slowly before it stopped at the front of the mansion.
Bruce came down and rushed to Sandra's side of the car and opened the door for her, she said a quick thank you and stepped down. She took in deep breaths and reassured herself that she would get through the evening without hurting anyone.
The door to the mansion was opened by a gloomy looking old bald butler.
"Good evening sir," the butler stretched out his hand. "Good evening ma'am, may I take your coat?"
He led them through a huge hallway decorated with expensive paintings. As they turned into the library, Sandra felt a cold shiver run down her spine, she came face to face with the people who hated her more than their son did. Instead of ignoring her existence like they always did whenever she visited them in the past, Mrs Morgan threw her hands around Sandra and pulled her in for a tight hug.
"Sandra dear, come sit beside me." Mrs Morgan said chirpily. She pulled Sandra to a two seater Sofa, she sat down and pulled Sandra down with her.
Sandra was so used to being ignored that she zoned out so much they had to tap her or call her name multiple times to get her attention.
This time she felt a gentle nudge from Mrs Morgan, she saw them looking at her seriously.
"I'm sorry, what did you say?" She asked for the thirteenth time.
"We will not condone a divorce," Mr Morgan declared. "We are the Morgans, such act is forbidden."
"But I and Bruce are no longer compatible, I get beaten up by him all the time." Sandra said.
"Such nonsense, a little slap here and there is nothing," Mrs Morgan said. "Moreover you know very well why my dear son changed and we all know whose fault that is."
"Indeed mother and I have forgiven her." Bruce added.
For a moment they became a background character in Sandra's head, she saw their lips move and she heard their voices but she could not make out a word. Her mind was busy calculating and planning.
Sandra burst into tears, shocking them. She rushed to Bruce and hugged him, he wiped her tears and gave her a tissue to blow her nose.
"I am sorry honey, I don't know what came over me." She said as she returned to her seat.
"You must have been going through a lot alone," Mrs Morgan said. "From now on always come to me." She held Sandra's hand and gave it a small squeeze. Mr Morgan cleared his throat.
"Now down to business, Sandra about the investment..."
"My father will never agree."
They all stared at each other in confusion.
"He doesn't trust small companies." Sandra said plainly.
"Sandra there should be an exception, we are family after all." Mr Morgan said, disappointment in his voice.
"There is."
Their eyes lit up with excitement.
"Please do tell."
Sandra smiled. "Transfer all your company shares to me..."
