"Hey could you spend the night with me I don't think I can sleep well with out you?" He asked with a tone that sounded a little embarrassed. "Sure but you can't rely on me for a good night sleep" she pointed out.
"Alright I will work on it and thank you" he thanked her with an even more awkward tone. They had there dinner and she headed towards his sleeping chamber and she felt wiredly nervous and felt her heart pound. Scorch pulled out some extra moss for her to sleep on "I know you find it uncomfortable to have dry moss" he explained. She patted the moss down to her liking and noticed Scorch giving her a funny look "umm you do know that I need some space to sleep on too?". QuiverWing felt like an idiot "oh I thought that..." she tried to defend her self but failed miserably. "Did you think that we would cuddle like this morning" he did a weird giggle as he said it.
"Ummm" she wasn't sure what she thought.
"Alright then" his voice was soft and he layed down infront of her belly and she released how soft his bones actually felt. She rested her wing on him and hugged him close with her arms. 'Well I might as well play along with the fact the I want to cuddle with him... or do I actually do want to' she felt a little torn but a cold voice was screaming at the back of her head that she definitely wants it. QuiverWing decided to just sleep on it. When she woke up she could hear his breathing as a calming whistle, she felt mesmerised by it. "I'm awake QuiverWing" he said in a bored voice.
"So do you always breathe like a whistle?" She asked as if it was a joke.
"I guess if you want to put it thay way" he said with a little giggle. He then nuzzled into her chest, she began to purr, and he chuckled. She rolled onto her back and stretched out an ack and heard a click. Without warning Scorch jumped onto her laying down and she let out an "opf" sound. "OK what is this about, you back claws cannot sit still" she asked him trying to keep eye contact.
"I must admit I'm a little playful, now let's get something to eat I'm hungry" he jumped down and headed towards the main part of the cave. QuiverWing rolled to her feet and strolled to the fish basket and she saw Scorch sorting the fish.
"Care to explain what happened back there?" QuiverWing asked honestly a little confused.
"Just an impulse decision and it was an awkward one" he squinted his eyes and looked like he wished he never did. "I think it was a cute" she emitted and he tilted his head. "Really?" He was genuinely surprised by her comment.
"Yes it was adorable" she nodded her head up with a smile.
"This pile is yours" he pointed to a pile of fish and she began to feast. She even asked Scorch to cook her salmon as she loved them. Once they were finished Scorch looked like he had something important to tell her, "Alright out with it" she said.
"We are gona have to go to a tropic island so I can teach you about this rare but very useful herb" he said as if it was rehersed.
"OK then when do we leave?" She asked.
"Now, we leave now" he replied. Then jumped onto her back. "So you're going to jump on me any chance you'll get hm" she spoked sycasticly. "Really I'm not like that" Scorch sounded a fended, "I know, it was just a joke" she smiled. QuiverWing them walked to the entrance of the cave and flew into the air heading east and a bit north. After around 6 hours of flying she landed on a small island that she could just about fit on and Scorch jumped into the water and clawed his way up with a mouth full of fish. "You look a little hungry there, I got some deep sea fish" he said dropping the fish at her claws.
"You, gona have some?" She asked.
"I'm gona hunt my own see you in a bit" he responded and dove into the sea.
As she was eating she had a wired feeling in her stomach about the island she was going to go to. A few minutes later Scorch surfaced liking his lips, or what she thought she thought was lips. "I do wonder what you looked like with scales" she blurded out. Scorches eyes looked a little surprised, "I was told I was very handsome" he said with a calm shrug. "Do you... ever miss your scales?" She felt she was too curious.
"Sometimes but I love being undead" he was surprisingly calm by her questions. "I have no idea how I could be mortal before, the fear of death, all the stomach acks when ever I ate anything other then fish and my eyes stinging under water. Honestly I love being undead" he explained.
"Do you miss flying by yourself?" She asked setting herself a challenge to upset him with a question. "Yeah all the time but I do remember it being tiring, so I'm not too upset like you said I got you" he smiled or squinted his eyes. "How exactly did you become undead?" She tried.
"What's with all these questions? You just seem to be throwing then at me" his voice sounded upset but his expectation looked curious. "I was just wondering" she replied.
"We should get moving" he said pointing his nose to were they were heading.
"Alright get on" she tilted her wing down making a ramp form to climb.
They got into the air and after 3 and a half hours QuiverWing saw an island with a rainforest in the middle, a filed at the north end and a dragon hunter town. "How did dragon hunters get here? They have never managed to get here" Scorch sounded surprised.
"We are just gona have to avoid them, I do remember a saying 'if dragon hunters move in there is no getting rid of them' so yeah we are gona have to hide from any movement" QuiverWing observed. She landed on the west side of the island and immediately went invisible. Scorch sniffed the air and signalled his tail up north, "the herb is this way, it has a very distinct sent" he explained.
She felt a little at home in the rainforest and she found it very easy to hide. "I'm gona have to ask you stay here I need to map out the new layout and if I take a wrong turn I might step on your tail or bump into you and we could get stuck" he explained.
"Sure thing I can learn a bit more of the rainforest so we meet here by tomorrow morning" she suggested.
"Aa it's sunset guess we have to spend the night here then" he went strangely high pitch.
"You just don't want to spend it alone, don't you?" She teasted and bumped noses with him.
"So are you just gona bump noses with any chance you get?" He teased back.
"Don't all dragons bump noses? It does mean friendship right?" When she said that, the biggest disappointed face she has seen Scorch do appeared infront of her.
"You thought it ment friendship?" He sounded a little desperate.
"Well, yeah what does it mean then?" She asked very confused.
"It's a way of flirting" Scorch looked down at his claws all embarrassed.
"Wait I was flirting with you this hole time, and I thought it ment friends" QuiverWing herself got embarrassed at the fact that she accidentally flirted with Scorch. 'Brian why didn't you tell me' she scolded herself. They stood there for a good 10 minutes in silence, them Scorch climbed a tree and rested on a branch. "So I will sleep down here then?" QuiverWing did not here an answer and she curled up at the root of the tree hoping her scales don't reveal her as she sleeps. She couldn't sleep that night, not very well at least, and she decided to start exploring the jungle, since she has nothing else to do. She kept thinking about how disappointed Scorch was when he found out she wasn't flirting intently, 'did he actually like me that way from the start or did he pick up the signals and fell that way?' there was no dining the fact that he liked her, especially after that reaction.
She then felt a sting on her hip and turned around snarling to see what has hit her. As she did she saw a cloud slasher looking very shocked at what he stabbed "your a chameleon dragon" his voice sounded as shocked as he looked.
"Yes and get your tail of me!" She charged forward, flinging him off. He screamed in pain as she saw the tip was snapped of and is now stuck in her. "My tail you brock my tail how is that possible?" He looked mortified at her as she growled. He hissed in self-defence and she charged agen, she could feel the ground shake as she took every step. He tried to fly up but she smacked into his side hearing a crack sound. QuiverWing looked down and saw the bone of the cloud slasher sticking out and he was nocked out. 'Great the first dragon I meat I almost killed' she looked at him then frowned "I need to get Scorch!" She exclaimed. She ran back to the tree crashing into it making Scorch wake up "what is going o- QuiverWing your bleeding" he said in a loud voice.
"There is a dying cloud slasher that needs your help" she said immediately.
"What! What did you do?" Scorch looked a little unsure.
"Just come and help this dragon" she grabbed hold of him and and ran on her back legs to the spot. She pot him down when she saw the unconscious and injured cloud slasher. "His tail is chiped and his wing is broken, I don't want to imagine the emount of force that is needed to do this" he sounded almost speechless.
"How much would it take per say?" She asked a little concerned about her own strength.
"About the weight of a mountain for the tail to chip and 20 thousand avalanches for the wing, why?" He turned to her with his head tilted.
She pulled the tip of the tail out of her hip and flinched. She then handed it to him, saying "here is the tip". His exertion was full shock and a little bit scared. "You broke a cloud slashers tail!" He yelled and then went back to trying to heal the injured dragon mumbling. QuiverWing watched Scorch run around for herbs and she almost frow up when he pushed the bone back into place. "Calm down QuiverWing I know it looks discussing but you can keep your dinner in" he said whilst keeping concentration on the cloud slasher. "Do you need any help?" She asked feeling a bit useless.
"Nope I got it" his voice was a little cold.
"What was that tone for?" She confronted.
"What tone?" He almost mumbled.
"Your tone that sounded cold what was that about?" She sounded more annoyed then she was.
"Jusy let me focus" he demanded.
"Fine I'll be by my tree root" she snapped and marched off. QuiverWing didn't know why she was angry, she was the one who accidentally flirted with Scorch. If anything he has the right to be angry, she did lead him on and then shut him down but yet she was angry and she doesn't know why. 'That's probably why I'm frustrated. OK fine I did have an interest in him and that's probably why I'm mad' she admitted to herself. She layed down and flexed her scales, she could tell that she is now invisible.
