Frang Bakery

Frang is a small city based on the edge of the Kingdom of Mealeth. It was home to a rank 5 knight who lead the city with an iron fist. In his left a shield and his right a sword. Each family inside Frang has the confidence to stay safe in their communities. Even thought they were a border city, a city built into the very wall of kingdom. If you were to walk around the town you would realize that there were only three gates. One to allow entry into the kingdom with two to allow entry from the two other kingdoms neighboring Mealeth.

Life inside of Frang wasn't horrible. In fact it was quiet nice. As long as you follow the rules written by Lord Fafra then life just moved forward. Criminals were forced to work as slaves until they either pay off their debt to society or die from exhaustion. Walking along the streets you could see children playing with their little toys, enjoying life without a worry in the world... But life isn't fair to everyone... crime is still prevalent inside the dark corners of the city. People can take offense for the smallest things some times. Even murder is a crime still committed under the lords iron fist. You can't be a slave if there are no witnesses.

Children are considered adults when they turn 14. They are usually able to work and get mostly sustainable jobs. Sustainability being able to purchase food and water. Some people don't even buy a home because tax every year would drive their income right into the ground. Wherever there was money there was also jealousy. Jealousy birthed crime which caused more jealousy.

If you were walking along the north road you could see four children who were chasing after a lone boy. This common occurrence could be seen daily starting at the entrance of the local doctors office and ending with the young man being beaten black and blue. Because they were younger than 18 the offenders didn't With just barely enough energy to carry himself to his usual resting spot, Irvon collapsed against the park bench and breathed in and out slowly. His breaths deep and tired. His daily schedule was waking up, going to the doctors office and studying as an understudy.

The doctor was an old man who is known as one of the best doctors in the city... hence the beat down. Being given such a great chance to rise above his peers made them grow apart. He has studied for a little over half a year and has mixed many potions and helped healed man a people. Still his so called "friends" bully him instead of congratulate him.

"Stupid idiots... last year we were friends and now they hate me. Whatever soon enough I'll save up enough money and get out of this stupid town." Finally catching his breath Irvon leaned against the tree. It had been his only friend for these past couple lonesome months. Throughout storms and rain it had protected him. The cold winter approaching however would force him to move places. His safety would become vulnerable.

Tonight though... tonight he would relax.

Getting up he limped towards his favorite food stall. Even though it was nearing 10 pm he knew the owner would stay out. He has gone there a couple times and has helped move inventory for the owner. She thanked him and said that any time he needs some fresh food he could come over and help her move inventory.

Walking along the stone road Irvon realized that he was too exhausted to move any heavy boxes. Having his stomach grumble convinced him to keep on walking. Eventually he made his way to a small wooden stall that still had a lamp on next to it. "Hey Grandma Jemma,"

"Ah hello Irvon, Oh my what happened to your face? Was it that band of kids again? They should just leave you be it wastes everyone's time and energy." She says with care leading into annoyance. She takes a wet cloth and cleans his clothes of the blood. Sitting in silence they both do this as they have done for the last couple months. Whenever he would get beaten up she would clean him up and give him something to eat on the house.

"Which sounds better? Some warm bread and milk or a cold sandwich. AND don't say your not hungry because I don't care if your hungry or not you don't know when your next meal is so you eat right now." Thinking over the options Irvon decided on the milk and warm bread. The sweet milk flowing down his throat made his body feel renewed and stronger. The bread hard but warm to make sure he didn't pass away in the night.

"Thank you again Grandma Jemma! I'm sorry again for causing so much trouble." Heaving a deep sigh Jemma said "If you were really sorry then you would stay safe and stay away from those awful kids. But I know it isn't your fault... just make sure you fight back enough to defend yourself. I don't want to see your name in the obituary. Your not even 18 yet," Sighing they said their farewells.

Walking back towards the park Irvon decided to hurry up as it started to lightly rain. But light rain turned into a storm and the storm brought thunder. Soon running through the park Irvon looks around trying to find the large tree that he has been living under. Its tall branches making it a common look at tourist spot. But tonight it was going to be his home tonight. Listening to the thunder strike the ground every couple seconds he realizes he is in the eye of the storm. Turning into an all out sprint to get out of the rain Irvon finally sees the gigantic tree across the field.

This was in no way a normal storm. Something or someone was creating a chaotic mess in the sky without care. Looking up at the sky he sees a strange phenomenon happening. Was the rain... focusing on the giant clouds? There were certain areas of the sky that just didn't have any rain coming down. It looked like the lightning was being targeted? But how was that possible? Had a couple high level mages started fighting? But this was the city of Frang ruled by the strongest general of the imperial army, the ruthless, the merciless, James Fafra. Had someone stronger than him decided to attack the city? Countless thoughts flowed inside his mind as he ran throughout the park. Nothing he could do about it though... he was just human either way.

Eventually all of his dodging and running had paid off as he looked at the small blanket and bag full of everything that he has collected through his time living out here. "Shit shit shit shit... Why did this have to happen today. I hope that Grandma Jemma is ok. Where do I even go now? I can't go back to Jemma because the lightning is falling rapidly like a waterfall. The doctor? I'll go and make sure he isn't flooded with patients because of the storm." Feeling his hair go staticky he pushes himself away from the tree and tries to not get shocked. He can't help the doctor if he was paralyzed. Suddenly the gigantic tree that had protected the park from the strong waves of sunlight during the summer shook violently.

In Irvon's eyes the world paused. A gigantic lightning bolt flowed down from the sky. It didn't look like a lightning bolt though.

Flowing down with chaotic grace the lightning bolt looked more like a gigantic serpent with its maws fully opened. It flew at a speed unimaginable for normal humans. The only reason that Irvon was able to even see that much was unknown to him. It seemed like someone purposefully slowed time down so much that everything just seemed slow, or maybe it was just his fight or flight instincts going into overdrive. The sky... Irvon didn't know why but the sky looked exceptionally beautiful tonight. It felt like there was no chaos around him, only peace and beauty.

Eventually time resumed at its normal pace. The lightning bolt flew in its undisturbed path once again. Then everything happened so suddenly. The only thing that Irvon could hear was the loud cracking of wood and intense heat. He could see much more than that though, throughout cleanched eyes he looked at the gigantic tree falling towards the larger part of the city. Right where he wanted to go. But he felt... nothing? Wasn't there supposed to be a blistering hot lightning bolt flying right past his body? Looking around more he saw that there was a light blue barrier surrounding his whole body. Magic? "Fr-rrEee mm-E Annn-d i SAve yOU," He heard a voice say underneath him. No it wasn't underneath him it was coming from where the roots of the tree once were. "What? Who's there?" Irvon mustered the courage to say. Everything that had happened so far had left him shellshocked and he was feeling numb. "No tIii-me... hURrY,"Hearing the desperation in the voice he decided to follow its instructions.
