Imogen is abandoned by her husband and further faces an even crueler twist when her husband refuses a divorce. With the arrival of Isaac Rossi, Elijah's revenge-driven half brother, Imogen strikes a clandestine deal with her brother-in-law to navigate a dangerous game of deceit, seeking to outmaneuver her indifferent husband. As loyalties are tested, Imogen must decide which brother is right for her. The one she was made for or the one she burns for.
IMOGEN'S POV
I stormed out of the room, my heels clicking angrily against the linoleum floor. My hands were shaking, and I clenched them into fists, trying to regain my composure. Elijah's words echoed in my head, fueling my rage with each step.
I made my way through the maze of hospital corridors, following the signs to the emergency ward. I wasn't entirely sure how to find Isaac's mother's room, but I knew I had to try. I needed to see him, to explain, to make him understand that I wasn't behind this mess.
As I rounded a corner, I nearly collided with someone exiting a room. I stumbled back, ready to apologize, when I realized who it was.
Lana Rossi, my mother-in-law, stood before me, her eyes widening in surprise.
"Imogen?" she said, her voice a mixture of confusion and suspicion. "What are you doing here?"
I straightened my spine, meeting her gaze. "I could ask you the same thing, mother in law."
