DEBORAH POV
My hand still pressed against my stinging cheek, I met Victoria's gaze, a spark of defiance flaring within me. "Father will never find out," I said, my voice low and intense. "Not unless someone spills between us."
Victoria's eyes narrowed, her grip on my shoulders tightening. She leaned in close, her breath hot against my ear as she whispered, "How do you think I know you're pregnant, Deborah? Somebody called me and told me."
My blood ran cold. Imogen's mother. It had to be. The encounter at the clinic flashed through my mind, and I swallowed hard, trying to keep my composure.
"Who?" I managed to choke out. "Who told you?"
Victoria pulled back, her eyes searching my face. "That doesn't matter," she said dismissively. Her voice hardened as she continued, "What matters is who the father is. And when you're getting rid of it."
