6 Chapter 6

I flew back towards my home, leaving behind an old Liberty with her driver. I did help her into her car though, as she was amongst the founders of the company and has a lot of influence.

When I returned back home, Mariana was waiting in the kitchen for me. When I entered the kitchen, she immediately got up and pulled me into an hug. She said "I was so scared when I saw that woman. She didn't look like any ordinary person."

I patted her back and said "You don't have to be worried about me ever again. My body can withstand the full force of an atom bomb. So, I believe there is no one on this planet that can harm me."

Maria looked at me with a ridiculed face and said "Sure....sure.... sometimes you really act like a little kid." she felt that I was bragging about my strength. Although I wanted to prove it to her, I don't think I can get an atom bomb from the government just to show a woman that I am strong.

She then prepared lunch for me and went to her room to feed Margaret. I was eating my lunch when the drunk man of the house walked to the table and sat down.

He shouted "Mariana, serve me my lunch. I am hungry." making me smell his bad breathe since I was sitting opposite to him.

I glared at him and said "Hey fucker, can't you tell that she is busy. Get you own food." Hank stared back at me for a while before slamming his fist on the table and shouting "Remember kid, you are just some orphan I agreed to take in, just because they were paying me more. So, you better stay in one corner, wait for your meals and pray that I don't kick you out."

That's it, he needs to be educated. I stretched out my hand and pointed my index finger at him. From the rip of my finger, a spark appeared and electrocuted Hank. He screamed and shivered, falling down from his chair.

Maria came running to the kitchen, leaving behind a crying baby in the room. She looked at the electric arc from my finger and shouted "James, let him go. There will be a lot of trouble if something happens to him."

I listened to her, but I didn't stop it immediately. I electrocuted him for 20 more seconds and then let him go. I floated up and looked down at him from above as I said "Listen here you stinky fat man. The only reason I am letting you live, is to avoid any trouble for your wife and your daughter.

But, if you do something to piss me off, you will die and it will not be a painless one. " when I finished, I could see him struggling to get up, drooling. He glared at me and wanted to say something, but I said before him "Stop it. Glaring at me is useless. You can't do anything to me. I have investigated all your 36 friends and everyone is involved in some or the other crime.

One call is enough to get them arrested. If you try to do something else, I can get you a spot in the backyard where you can rest comfortably till your body decays."

I then used telekinesis and lifted him up, bringing him face to face with me. I said to him "I am not kidding when I said that I will kill you." dropping him onto the table.

I could see fear in his eyes and this is going to be a good reminder to him, to never mess with me' again. I didn't have mood to eat, so I went out to kill time. While I was leaving, I heard Maria say "Don't look at me, you are the one who agreed to the whole Vought shit."

I just smiled and flew off, looking around for something to do. There were many fun things to do, but I wasn't in a mood for any of those.

I just flew around for a few minutes and returned home. When I came back, I could only hear noises from the kitchen, but I didn't go and get involved. Maria now has support and strength she needs. If she is still taking a beating from Hank, it means that she has her reasons.

I just sat down and opened my Gameboy advance to play Pokemon. I was glad that atleast something good was made in this world. Gameboy is owned a Japanese company and they don't have that many games based off the superheroes of Vought.

I played the game and completed it easily, as I could calculate the odds and come up with the best strategy using my enhanced intelligence.

It was too boring afterwards and I was completely running out of ideas. I used my x-ray vision, and saw that Maria and Hank finished their quarrel.

I went to Maria's room and found her playing with Margaret. She looked very happy, with a bright smile on her face. She heard my footsteps and looked at me.

She said "Thanks again James, today I was able to release all my pent up anger without worrying about any consequences. You really changed my life. Thanks James."

"Ok, this is getting awkward, so I am going to leave." I said and returned back to my room.

*Time skip 6 months*

I would say that life was as usual, but it gets crazier everyday. Hank, who always drowned in beer, had completely quit drinking. He also started working out, which I know isn't true.

Still, Maria feels that he has changed a lot and all he needed was a good beating, but I can easily tell that he is someone who holds grudges. Everytime he looks at me, his blood pressure and adrenaline increases, indicating that he is angry.

I know that he is planning something and I didn't want to disturb him. I was eagerly waiting for some entertainment the whole time and Hank is going to be my toy for now. I hope the toy lasts long and entertains me properly or else, I will have to search for a new toy.

The only way I kill time now, is by playing with Margaret, who is slowly starting to pickup words and form sentences. I also spend a lot of my time with Maria, talking, playing, roaming the town and many other things, which helped a lot with my boredom.

I was on the couch, watching the news, when Maria shouted from the kitchen "James, can you get some cheese from the store? I am making pizza tonight."

"Yeah sure" I replied, because she makes the best pizza, which she learnt from an Italian friend. I flew out and headed straight to the store. I brought the cheese and flew back home. When I got close to the house, I heard Margaret crying "Let mommy go"

I immediately teleported home and appeared in the hallway. I usually don't use teleportation, as it has a very big limitation of only teleporting to a place in my sight. It also feels too weird when I teleport.

That's not the important thing now. I looked at the living room and saw three strangers in the room, with Hank sitting on a chair. A man was sitting on another chair with a gun in his hand. Another one was on the couch, above Maria, whose top had been torn. A man stood near Hank, holding Margaret in his arms. The weird thing was that Maria's eyes looked lifeless.

Hank noticed me and got up. He said as he walked towards me "James....James....what was that you told me 6 months ago?

'I can get you a spot in the backyard where you can rest comfortably till your body decays.' was it?

WHY DON'T YOU TRY THAT? WHAT HAPPENED TO ALL THAT PRIDE AND ARROGANCE FROM BEFORE? WHY DON'T YOU ELECTROCUTE ME NOW? WHAT'S THE MATTER JAMES?

I spent 6 months, used all my contacts and all the money I got from Vought, to get in touch with the 'Payback'. This is ...." he points to the four strangers in the room and tells me their name. He brought Gunpowder, Mindstorm and the male twin from the TNT twins.

Hank again continued "James, I knew that I can't defeat you, but they can. They are the Payback, who have fought many battles and are more experienced than you.

I was pissed on both you and Mariana, but I can't do anything to you or Vought. So, I offered them Mariana in exchange for beating you up. I could get my revenge on both of you. I will first let you see TNT twin play with Mariana while you just stand there and do nothing.

Next, you will get beaten up by all four of us, and you can do nothing. I know you are close to Mariana and Margaret. If you do something, Gunpowder is going to shoot Margaret. Although she is a superhero, she will die if her ear is damaged (Except for James, no one knew that she wouldn't die that way) and Gunpowder never misses a shot."

I looked at Maria, then at Margaret and lastly Hank. I really don't know what to tell these fools. I burst out laughing with tears in my eyes. I hadn't laughed this much ever since I came to this world.

Just as I was about to stop laughing and talk, the telephone rang and I lifted it. On the other side of the call was Edgar.

Edgar said "James, I know what is happening in your house and I want you to calm down. Let's talk it out and come to a reasonable solution. You already signed a contract with Vought and own 30% of the shares."

"Edgar, that contract is going to be valid only when I turn 18. Till then, it is just a waste piece of paper. Also, I think before I do something. I first wanted to kill all three, but I then decided to let Mindstorm live if he corrects his mistake." I replied.

Edgar was silent for a while and then said "I am happy that you decided to negotiate with me." which was reasonable in my sense. Gunpowder and TNT aren't some irreplaceable people. Although not to their level, even a normal sniper can do the job and we already have explosives.

As for Mindstorm, who can play with people's minds, is way better than the rest two. Their popularity had decreased after the death of Soldier boy and the disband of the Payback. Also, he must be happy that his plan worked.

I cut the call and looked at them. I said "Well, here you go. Vought isn't there to protect you anymore and they can't do anything even if they did support you."

Gunpowder looked pissed and immediately shot multiple rounds at me. All the bullets flew around the house, bouncing from one surface to another. When they landed on me, they hit all the vital spots, but they felt like a baby's touch.

The smile on Hank's face slowly disappeared while the rest were shocked. The hadn't seen or heard of anyone, apart from Soldier boy and Liberty, who could withstand a shot from a pistol.

Gunpowder panicked and pointed his pistol at Mariana and said "I will blow her brains out. Just stay right there and don't do anything. No one will get hurt."

Hank turned to Gunpowder, questioning what he just said. Gunpowder said "Do you really think we can kill him if he can withstand a bullet?" traumatized by Soldier boy's beating.

I used my telekinesis, twisting and crushing the pistol into a metal ball. Gunpowder didn't have another weapon, while TNT twin was useless without his sister. They both didn't expect a fight and only brought drugs with them.

As for Mindstorm, he didn't want to get involved, as he is safe and he noticed that Edgar seemed to hold me in high regards.

I used my telekinesis and lifted both the TNT twin and Gunpowder above the ground. I then walked to Mindstorm and stole his power. After I completely understood his power and how I can recreate it, I went to Margaret and said "It's alright now. I am here aren't I." wiping her tears.

I then closed her ears and turned the other side. I just set them on fire and let them burn to ashes. Hank saw this right in front of him and his whole body froze, not even able to scream or move in my presence.

I then walked to Maria and placed my hand on her head. She immediately opened her eyes, looked around, looked at me and hugged me tightly.

I patted her back and said "It is alright. I don't know what he made you see, but it was just something your mind made up, digging through your thoughts. Just forget about it."

She moved back and then pulled Margaret to a hug. She then looked at Hank, who was the cause of all this. I said to her "You can do whatever you want with him."

I trained her to use her strength and showed her how durable she was. I detonated a bomb nearby to show that we both had great durability. She still had way less than me since she got the powers from Margaret when she was small, where her powers were still developing.

I then left her alone in the room and took Margaret to her room. I could hear loud o

sounds from below, but decided to ignore them.
