4. A day full of struggles

(Three weeks later)

I sat outside of Hagrid's hut waiting for the class to show up. "Remember Kara. If there's blood, leave"

"What if i can't"

"You'll have to try your best if you don't want to hurt anyone". I nodded and sat in silence whilst i waited.

"Alright, lets go then" Hagrid said when they all turned up.

When we all got down there i opened my book and let Draco have to figure it out himself.

"Ta da!" Hagrid said as a Hippogriff came into sight. I felt my lip curl into a snarl as it came into sight. "Hagrid? What exactly is that?" Ron asked. "That Ron, is a Hippogriff. First thing you want to know about Hippogriffs, they're very proud creatures. Very easily offended. you do not want to insult a Hippogriff"

"Filthy beast" I muttered. "It may just be the last thing you ever do"

"The last thing that i'd ever do is eat it" I muttered again. Buckbeak looked at me as if he heard and let out a low growl.

"Now, who'd like to come and say hello?"

Everyone stood back, leaving me and Harry closer to it. "Which one of you then?"

"Sir, the only reason i'd go near that thing, is to cook it" I snarled. "Harry! Come on then"

I heard some laughs as i stepped back and sat leaning on the wall. "Wake me up at the end?"

Draco nodded and i put my head back and closed my eyes.

"Big ugly brute!"

My eyes opened when the smell reached my nose. I looked over to Draco on the floor and bit my lip as the hunger grew heavier. "It's killed me, it's killed me!"

"Hagrid! You have to take him to the hospital wing!"

Hagrid watched me as i slowly stood up and looked at the boy. I closed my eyes for longer to get the sensation away before i opened them and ran off.

At lunch i sat staring at Draco's arm as he sat in front of me. "Why isn't she eating?"

"I'm not hungry. Not for this stuff anyway" I frowned, not being able to take my eyes away from his arm. "Then why are you looking at the food like you haven't eaten for weeks?" Pansy scowled. "It's not the food i'm looking at" i said as i bit my lip again and looked at her. "I'm going to the bathroom" I sighed.

As i looked in the mirror at my skinny face and let out a low growl. "Kara?"

"Oh god George! Why are you in the girls bathroom?"

"To find you. Why haven't you been eating?"

"You can tell that?"

"Yes! Look at you. You're face is all skinny. Where's your animal blood?"

"Here" I frowned as i took the flask out. "Why aren't you drinking it?"

"Because my body wont let me"

"What do you mean?" He frowned in concern and came closer. "Look"

I unscrewed it and took a sip, immediately spitting it back out again and running to a toilet to be sick.

"You can only eat human blood?"

I nodded with a sigh and threw the flak across the room. He grabbed his wand and pointed it at the door "Colloportus". The door locked and he turned to me again before taking his tie and robes off and unbuttoning his shirt part way, then revealing his shoulder.

"No" I shook my head with a frown. "Kara you need to eat"

"What if i can't stop? I'll kill you"

"That's a risk i'll have to take. Kara we don't hate you, we're trying to protect you because of all the crap you've been through. And i know that Draco's smell is stronger now because you've smelt his blood. I can see that you're starving please, just eat?"

"Why? Why are you trying to protect me?"

"You used to be Ron's friend, you use to spend everyday at our house because our parents were friends. Now he's forgotten you and he can't remember how important you were to him, how important you were to us"

"How important was i?"

"Extremely. To all of us. And you've been gone for so long that they don't know who you are. They've all forgotten you, except for me and Fred. Why is that?"

"You weren't there when mum erased their memories"

"Listen Kara. Everyone loved you, even Percy who apparently annoyed you for some reason. Please, Just eat"

He raised his eyebrow and knelt down on one knee, his shoulder still showing. I looked around to check that no one was in here and back at him. "Are you sure? I- I don't want to hurt you"

"Yes Kara. you think that i just want to taunt you?"

"Fred did. And that didn't end well"

"I'm not taunting you. But if you go on like this any longer you'll kill yourself"

I walked over and wrapped my arms around him for a hug. He did the same and i moved my arm and put my mouth just above his shoulder before getting my teeth ready.

"Kara i'm sure, just do it"

He didn't take his arms from around me, they were loosely wrapped around my waist as i stood in front of him.

I gulped and closed my eyes before taking a few breaths. I dug my teeth into his skin, he squeezed his arms together, practically crushing me under the pressure. I grunted at the feel and taste of blood and increased the pressure of my bite, making George gasp in pain.

My hand made it's way behind his head to try to pull him closer although he actually couldn't so my hand curled into a ball. "Ka- Kara" he muttered before my mouth un-latched from his shoulder.

He fell forward slightly, me catching him as blood dripped from my mouth. "George?"

"Mhm?" He huffed with a slightly hitched breath. "Wait here a sec" I said as i leaned him against the wall. I went to the mirror and wiped the blood away from my chin before going back over and grabbing his robes and tie. "Come on" I muttered, swinging his arm over my shoulder and helping him up. "Thank you"

He just smiled down at me as i tried to ignore his blood dripping on me.
