The One She Adores

Justin woke up to the sound of horrible singing. Slightly normal, he picked up a pillow from his bed and threw it towards the figure standing at his room door.

Gwen shrieked at the point of reaching an high note as she barely dodged the pillow. She turned to stare at Justin who was glaring at her and she swallowed. Just yesterday he looked happy, was he back to his usual depressing self?

She had wanted to wake him up by singing very sweetly but instead he had thrown a pillow at her and was now glaring daggers at her.

" I'll....., I'll...., I'll give.... you time to.... get dressed", she said sadly and turned away from him wanting to walk away from his room but suddenly another pillow hit her head and she shrieked and turned back immediately to stare at him.

He held another pillow and his glaring face was replaced with a mischievous smile and she just stood there staring at him. He looked so much like the younger Justin, the one she adored.

He suddenly threw the pillow at her but she gracefully moved away and it flew out of the room. " I thought I told you not to sing in my room Henrietta", she suddenly heard him say and she redrawed her brown eyes from the pillow, letting it stare at him.

Justin stood up walking over to her. He was clothed in nothing but his black pajama trousers, his chest was bare for view as he couldn't sleep without taking off his shirt, It had become an habit of his.

His dark hair was slightly ruffled, hints that he just got out of bed. Who knew he could sleep so late? Gwen was already fully clothed and ready for school and he was yet to get himself cleaned up.

" What? You look lost", Justin said as he lifted Gwen's chin up so they were on eye level and her mouth just formed a little 'o' shape before she finally spoke.

" Is everything alright, Jay?", Gwen asked nervously and Justin just stared at her a while before chuckling and letting go of her. He walked back to his bed and sat on it and she followed him back to his bed as well, claiming the empty space next to him.

His room wasn't like any guy teenager's room. It just had a dull grey painting, less designs and a study table then a mini library where he kept his good literary works and then a walk in closet. Other than that, his bedsheets was black and his window tinted.

Justin sighed and sat sideways to face her, pushing a strand of her brown hair which had come to fall on her face away and tucking it behind her ear like the caring older brother he used to be.

" Everything is alright Gwen. I've just decided to dream again", he said to her calmly and she just stared back at him not knowing what to say. The usual Justin wouldn't even let her share a little space with him for one minute and here he was right now letting her sit on his bed and speak with him.

She suddenly smiled at him beaming like a seven year old who got promised all the good candies for Halloween. Her brown eyes clouded with tears as she enveloped him very tightly. The words that left her mouth that moment came straight from her heart.

" Dream Justin, Dream", she said and he smiled at her feeling better. She left his embrace got up from his bed still smiling as he smiled warmly back at her.

She turned away not wanting to go but yet wanting him to get dressed and ready for school. Her heart was thudding in her chest like a huge heavy burden had been lifted from her shoulders.

She turned her head to the side and stared at him for a while and he had that encouraging smile that she so much missed on his face. She finally grew confident and walked out of the room shutting the door behind her.

Justin stared at the presently closed door before letting his eyes wander over his room and then back to the door.

Yes. After all that happened yesterday, he had decided to dream once again. Hanging out with Annabella yesterday connected him to the outer world and what he had been shunning himself away from since.

Life was about to be taken away from him, so shouldn't he live every moment of it in a happy way. Why make himself sad and prolong his suffering for another year?

He had never thought of taking such a huge step because he was too afraid of putting his heart out there and hoping like any other patient in his stead would do. But when he saw Annabella yesterday and the peace he felt from just rendering advice to her, he thought he could give the outside world a try.

He got up from the bed and stared at his boring wall clock. Damn he was very late and for someone who wanted to graduate high school with good grades, he was being too lazy.
