Meeting through Misunderstanding

The strawberry-blonde-haired girl kept dragging me without saying anything. We were starting to attract the attention of the students around. But the girl showed no sign of slowing down.

She kept dragging me and now we had crossed the fourth floor where the Director's office was located. Then after ascending a few more stairs she opened the door to the rooftop and led me in the rooftop.

We were facing each other now. I had no idea what was happening while the girl kept staring at me with fierce eyes. A gentle breeze passed through and the hem of her skirt was slightly lifted revealing more of her tempting thighs.

She then closed the distance between us and then (Slap).

The girl, without any prior notice, slapped me. I reflexively put my right hand to my now red cheek.

I was trying to comprehend the situation when the girl spoke with an angry tone, "That merely counts as a punishment you know. I had planned to slap you in front of the whole school but Ichika said she didn't want to draw attention so I had to drag you here to the rooftop."

(You did draw some attention you know. And who is this Ichika anyway?)

While I was having those thoughts the girl gave me another slap this time to my other cheek.

"Who do you think you are? Do you think you are some bigshot? Although I give it to you that you are somewhat good-looking, it doesn't mean you can force a girl to accept your confession. You should have been a proper man and accepted whatever reply she gave to you."

Now the girl was definitely spouting nonsense. I thought to myself.

I had come to this school because no one knew me here. i had no intention of making any friends or being sociable. I just wanted to spend my days in peace without getting involved with anyone. And here this girl just slapped me twice because 'I' proposed a girl?

I had just come to this school and don't know any other girl except the one beside me and I had no way of knowing who this Ichika girl was let alone confessing to her. Whatever this girl was saying left me completely confused.

When I was just about to speak, the girl beat me to the punch and said, "You just wait here. I will now bring Ichika here and you have to properly apologize to her for what you did. Is that clear?"

Then without waiting for my response, she hurried down the stairs.

"What should I do now?"

Now I was in a dilemma. I thought about ignoring this girl and returning to my classroom. But again she might barge in the classroom causing another ruckus. But I didn't want to involve myself in a situation I wasn't aware of. But after giving some thought I decided to wait. So even though I didn't want to, I stayed there on the rooftop and waited for the girl to return.

After some time, I could hear the footsteps of someone approaching.

"You don't have to worry. I am here with you. You just have to be there when he apologizes to you and settle this peacefully." The girl was saying so with confidence and I could hear her from the other side of the door.

Then she opened the door. This time another girl was with her. She had shoulder-length pink hair and a cute face somehow projecting the image of what people call 'delicate beauty.'

Probably she was the girl that the blonde-haired girl referred to as Ichika.

The blonde-haired girl slowly approached me.

She then turned to look around and said, "Come a bit closer Ichika. No need to be afra-"

She was just about to say 'afraid' when she suddenly stiffened seeing her friend's expression.

"What happened Ichika? Why are you making such a face?"

"He is not..." the Ichika girl was muttering to herself.

"What are you saying?" Apparently, the blonde-haired girl wasn't able to comprehend her friend's behavior.

"He is not the..."

"Come on say a bit louder." Now she was getting anxious.

"He is not the boy that confessed to me!!" Just as the girl screamed those words the blonde-haired girl who was approaching the pinked haired girl slowly now stopped dead in her tracks.

Her mouth was wide open. "Huh?"

"Like I said he isn't the boy that confessed to me and tried to force me to accept?"

When the girl finished her statement, the blonde-haired girl turned her head around to face me who had been silent all this time in a robotic manner. She then flashed a wry smile towards me.

While all this was happening, I was silently observing the situation without any expressions on my face.

The girl then quickly turned towards me.

"I'm sorry!!" The girl then screamed the words of apology and bowed deeply towards me. Her blonde hair was touching the ground.

I was now calmly sorting out the series of the event up until now inside my head.

After some thinking, I concluded that this blonde-haired girl had mistaken me for another guy and because of the misunderstanding on her part all this had happened.

"I'm so, so, so sorry. My friend Ichika said that she was confessed by a transfer student from another class and even that guy even was forcing her to accept. And I had heard that Class 2-A had a new transfer student. So, I thought it was you and I did all this to you and even slapped you."

Now the girl's face was completely red. Probably embarrassed by what she had done.

The girl finally looked up with her head still bowed and said, "If you want you can slap me in return. I am ready for that." But her face was still a bit red.

The girl had already apologized and I had no intention of making a fuss over it.

"It's okay. You have already apologized and I have no intention of slapping you."

"Is that okay with you? I slapped you, you know and not to mention twice." She probably couldn't believe that she was let off the hook so easily. Her eyes spoke of bafflement.

"It's completely okay with me. I have forgiven you and I have no intention of dragging this any further."

Just as I finished speaking the school bell rang signaling the end of the period. We had missed a class because of this incident.

As soon as the bell rang the Ichika girl spoke, "It's Fujiki-sensei's period now. We should return to the classroom now."

Apparently, Fujiki-sensei was feared by all the students in this school.

When I was thinking so, the blonde-haired girl slowly raised her head and then regained her composure. Then she elegantly bowed before leaving the rooftop.

I also made my way towards my classroom.

When I opened the door, all the eyes in the classroom landed on me. They probably wanted an explanation of what had happened.

But I paid no attention to them and settled on his seat.

"So, what business did you have with Honami-san?"

After I went to my seat, the girl beside asked me.

I didn't want to tell others about this and spread about this around the school so I decided to not tell her about the incident at the rooftop and simply said, "None of your business."

"Is that so?"

Most people will be annoyed by this response but the girl remained collected.

After that sort of exchange the class started and ended quickly.

It was now lunch break. I didn't have much appetite so I settled on having a drink.

I then went to the vending machine near the large cafeteria and grabbed a can.

I enjoyed my drink at a corner table in the cafeteria and after some wandering around the school, I returned to my class.

The afternoon classes ended without hitch. After the last period of the day ended, students with club activities started heading towards their clubs and those in the go-home club packed their bags and headed towards their home chatting with their friends.

I also went to my locker, changed into my outdoor shoes and exited the school building.

While I was slowly heading towards the school gate, I looked back at what had happened today. I today met the girl named Honami in the strangest way possible. I thought that I wouldn't forget this girl after such an unexpected meeting on the very first day.

After exiting the school gate, I turned left and started walking at my own pace towards my home.

I had a calm look on my face all the while.

But I was slightly troubled.

It was because I had noticed a certain someone from my class tailing me since I had left the school.

Apparently, my quota of trouble for the day wasn't over yet.
