Nestled in one of the corners of a famous shop, specialised in cooking utensils (they sold really well. Each set must be reserved days, even weeks, before being able to get them). Though not very well stood out, it still held a somewhat homely feeling, giving Jake a sense of comfort and peace.
Without even realising, he went inside the shop. Gears of all sort, though not as fancy looking, covered all walls of the store. Nestled here and there, you could see some rare gems, such as an all in one non-stick pan, which also can act as a really good shield, a great helmet, and a giant mirror.
"Hello Mr. How may I help you." The soft call, though barely visible, made Jake jump in fear, as he did not realise there was a person, or to be more accurate, a child present behind the counter. One metre in height, his hair barely scraped the top of the counter. His face, though slightly chubby, held pride and confidence in them, especially when he skimmed across the products in the store. "What do you want to buy? We have everything, from old reliables to the latest safety boots, equipped with state-of-the-art automatic tent tracking UPS. We al-"
All of a sudden, a large crash reverberated behind in the closed door. Out from the door came a Wulfus, smoke emanating from his leather apron, bubbles even popping from the surface. Face twitching slightly, Jake just looked at him, before giving him the list "Mr., do you have all these in the list? I need them by 2 days latest." The Wulfus peered through list, skimming down, before giving a final decision "I'm sorry, we don't have all of these. But we do have items that are very similar to them. Wait here, I'll get them. Oh, and no need to worry, our prices are very affordable." The Wulfus adds this last piece, before heading back to prepare the equipment on the sheet.
As Jake stood awkwardly at the counter, the young boy present finally mustered the courage to start a conversation with him "H-hello, my n-name... is... ummm..." Feet twiddling around, eyes looking down, the young boy, finally mustering the courage, spoke out "My name is Kyle Blevin."
Jake looked curiously at him, along with some shock, for he finally realised that the young boy looked very much like a human, except having light blue circuits going down his face. "You don't... look, you know, like your father..." Trailing here, Jake indicated he wanted to know how they were related.
Kyle looked up, hesitated, before replying despondent "I have no mom and dad. I... lost them long ago. I used live in a nearby orphanage, until Mr. Lyanc took me in. He taught me all about equipment making, even though it's very tough. Oh, no no no, he's very kind!" Kyle quickly explains, shaking his hands, when Jake gave Kyle a very questioning gaze. Still somewhat skeptical, Jake gave way with benefit of doubt. Still, this makes more sense, considering that Kyle and Lyanc look nowhere similar, Kyle being a Numan and Mr. Lyanc a Wulfus, mused Jake.
Just then, Mr. Lyanc came our, dragging a hefty package filled to the brim with a myriad tools and equipment. "Thank goodness I have managed to get most of the things on the list. Althoughbthere are some missing, I did manage to compensate them."
Just before Jake asks what he meant, Lyanc wagged his finger "Ah, ah, ah. Spoiling it loses all the fun. Now I believe that you don't have too much time left, considering that, oh, the sun is setting down now."
Realising that it's almost night, Jake rushes hoen, considering the fact that today was the last day of holiday, and that he had school tomorrow.
