Chapter 122: Heat

"Ave," Ryker said when he saw me reading some book inside the library. I still have at least two hours before leaving for Atters with him. 

"Hmmm? " I asked him without looking at him. 

"The elder vampires have settled down. I organized teams to patrol the perimeters. Is there anything you want to add?" he said. 

After reading the book's page, I remembered the forbidden book that Onyx had given to Stacey. 

"That's good, Ryker," I praised him. You're more fit to be king than your bastard brother," I told him. 

Ryker smiled at me. 

"Nah, I never wanted a throne," Ryker said. "I only wanted to be with you."

My cheeks automatically blush when I hear what he said.

"Anyways, Uhm, do you know Stacey? Or any forbidden books that have been hidden here?" I asked him to change the topic. I felt like Ryker had the power to make me blush whenever he said he wanted to be with me.
