Chapter 40: With Harmony
"Look at them below," I said overlooking the expansive courtyard upon our balcony as midnight fast approached. "Soirees, meetings, drinks. None we were invited to but tomorrow we'll be the main attraction."
Velador knelt in front of his trunk in search of something and said, "Probably quite boring down there."
I leaned against the railing with my forearms and pondered which nation will try to assassinate me tomorrow. It was not paranoia when it's historical.
Then Velador surprised me and reached his arms around me from behind.
"Oh, hi," I said, smitten from the act.
"Perhaps we should put on a show for them," Velador whispered in my ear, far too coy for his own good.
"What did you have in mind?" I asked and turned my head slightly.
With walls on our balcony to the left and right, only people in front could see us. But in this dark and at our distance, whatever my husband was planning would go unnoticed.
