The Hunger Within

<p><br/>Just as I was about to give up, I felt a sudden rush of energy entering my body, purifying it. But that wasn't the surprising part. What truly shocked me was an insatiable hunger—not one that could be satisfied with food, but a craving for blood.<br/><br/>As I was on the verge of going insane from the hunger, I smelled blood. My body moved on its own towards the source. When I arrived, I saw something unexpected: a bloody figure on the ground, barely clinging to life. What shocked me the most were the horns and the three black angel wings on each side of his back. I quickly hid and resisted the urge to devour him, knowing that even injured, this demon could easily kill me.<br/><br/>I waited for two hours until he took his last breath. Then, I moved quickly to his corpse and began the Devouring Dragon Art, consuming his blood and body. The sensation was intoxicating as I felt my strength increase and information flood into my brain. I hit the jackpot; this demon wasn't ordinary. He was the crown prince of the demon kingdom and the sole survivor of a massacre. Despite escaping, he lost too much blood and died.<br/><br/>There are three demon kingdoms. One of them supposedly had a treasure from a demon overlord, prompting the other two kingdoms to launch a war in hopes of finding it. The crown prince hailed from that kingdom. When the invaders couldn't find the treasure, they massacred everyone in anger for being deceived and wasting resources. When the demon was alive, his strong demonic qi kept demon beasts away, but now that he was dead, the smell of blood would attract them. Despite my newfound strength, I was still a mortal, and integrating the demon blood and demonic qi would take time.<br/><br/>I ran until I found a cave. Hiding behind a large rock, I started circulating the Devouring Dragon Art. After three hours, I felt pain in my back. It was a strange sensation, as if an arm was being attached to my back, yet it felt like it had always been there. To my surprise, I grew two wings on each side, signifying the Two Winged Realm. You might wonder why I wasn't at the Three Winged Realm after devouring a demon of that level. The answer is simple: I only absorbed the purest qi, avoiding impurities that could harm me in the future.<br/><br/>After cultivating for a bit, I took some food from the storage ring. After eating, I flew to the top of a tree and slept. Devouring and integrating a bloodline took a lot of stamina, and I was exhausted. I slept like a log.</p>
