Day of War

Our plan went unexpectedly smooth. Our infiltrators got into the "secret section" easily, our charging team was not found by the passing guards. We just had to wait for the signal to engage, the whistle that Cecilia would send to us. We were waiting for around thirty minutes as suddenly the whistle echoed in my head.

Ce:" Servve, Laurin! Go!"

With this simple command Servve and Laurin charged in the species equally distributed over the space. Every elven fighter had one leprechaun fighter as a duo, a principal we implemented for maximum teamplay in a fight. After a few experiments it has shown to be really effective - enemies were unable to pass the leprechaun and the elf behind had an easy time landing fast hits before retreating again. And fighters uninformed about the strategy might fall into confusion or even better: He underestimates the leprechauns attack power.

The eight guards in front of the big, stone archway - which was beatifully ornamented with several entwined dragons - saw us coming, but were unable to scream. It is rather hard to speak with an arrow in your throat, apparently. While I started to move a bit slower to follow our strategy, I felt a shiver. Those archers were scary, even our soldiers wouldn't stand a chance in blocking any of those arrows! (Reminder from the author, he is supposed to come in later and clear up)

After those eight were dead I call the mage to give the sign to attack to our invader-division right after we started the battle. This way, we had both the advantage of distraction mid-fight and a point to overthrow the battle completely. Servves unit was still charging, the guardless demons shoving around mining carts were obliterated in a matter of seconds. Servve was fired up - so he didn't even stop his charge while decapitating them. The strikes were clean horizontal strikes in mid-air after he jumped. The last kill of the eighteen guardless demons fell to Laurin, who threw his hammer.

He was able to do so without effort now. Our trip to gather materials benefitted him aswell - we got him an enchanted hammer, which he was able to retract anytime he wanted. Right to his hand, even if the hammer had to pass through a enemies body to do so. In contrary to Servves kills, his one was messy. The demons head was crushed, what was inside was splattered around. The smell of sulfur came out.

These ones were too many to be silenced, so we waited up here. They might have a trap set down there, after all. That theory was negated quickly, the demon... army? Was coming up on its own.

The fault in our plan? It was not an army. It was one big demon. And to our surprise, he looked confident to win this.

Demon:" You were the ones that killed my minions? If they got killed by such a bunch they deserved death. But leave this place, I don't have time for trash."

Ce:" Trash, huh? Might you want to show us that you are stronger than us?"

Demon:" Sigh... Sure. I can, but don't blame me!"

The demons hand emitted a magic circle, there was a big spell going to come. Several small, dark bullets came out, one for each of our frontliners. Sensing potential danger, I create low level swords right into their path - succeeding to block them.

D:" Interesting magic you have there. You might be some fun to fight, so I'll make you an offer. We will fight in a one versus one, the loser and his fighters belong to the oponents army. You and that weird silence mage have peaked my interest."

Ce:" Unfortunately, I cannot decide on whether I am allowed to do so."

D:" I'll give you a moment, ask them."

I turn around and look at my soldiers. Most of them are wavering, but there are more that trust me than the other way around. In my ear the message from the other division arrives. Positive. Most of them are fully content with the choice.

Ce:" Well, I guess we have a plan now. But I can't really trust the honor of a demon to keep his word"

D:" You don't need to, blood magic will seal us to follow the instructions. Here it is, just get your own blood on it and we can start"

Ce:" What about my army? Wouldn't they be able to interrupt that way?"

D:" Blocking your own ways of cheating? Really interesting... But don't worry. No one is able to get into the path of blood magic. No one."

In the last part he narrowed his eyes and tensed up his face. He had unpleasant memories. Does he remember his human time? No point in investigating further, so I bite my tongue a little bit and spit the blood out. Can't have my hand injured in a fight!

D:" Lets see some of your magic, young prince!"

Where did he...

In a sudden hunch, I summon a sword and simply throw it forward. The demon dodges, but his movement was slow. I summone two new ones, and rush onto him. In my surprise, he pulls out a rather familiar sword. This was Klaus sword back then, how did he... His movement was still slow, but this time I was less aware, so I nearly get hit. I didn't get any punishment for it though - his side was open now that his sword was gone to the side. What the...

In a simple strike my sword pierces the demons upper body - it sinks down to its knees. I put my sword to his throat, ready to kill him, but the igniting contract makes me put my swords away. I already won.

Ce:" So, now that you belong to me, answer a few questions."

D:"..."

Ce:" Why did you know who I am?"

D:" I knew you for quite some time now, who would forget!"

Ce:" A little unprecise, but I'll let it slide. Where did you get that sword?"

D:" I picked it up after my father got executed."

Ce:" Okay, this will probably be my last question. Aren't you a certain princes best friend?"
