Azure Sky

My medical treatment was fastly done, it was a badly placed scratch. A few stitches and it was as good as new - except that Cecilia seemed rather down afterwards. She keeps looking to the ground, even though she nearly crashes every time another person passed. When she almost walked past our destination - the big empty space in the middle of the camp - I felt like I had to interrupt her.

So, instead of further investigating I grab her hand and say:" Stop looking down, the sky is shining too bright for you to ignore it's artwork"

For the first time in an entire hour she looks up, opens her mouth a little and then turns towards me again. She smiles slightly, then pulls me to a seat.

I had no idea what this seat was about. Neither were there any other seats, nor was there a table or anything. It was a fancy, golden chair standing in absolute solitude. Cecilia went away for a few seconds, then came back. She was really nervous now, but she still came up and asked:" Mind if I put this here?" Then points next to my chair, then on the silver chair she had been hiding behind her back.

Ce:" Go ahead"

After she took her place, she began explaining a little bit of what was about to happen. Apparently, my birthday would also be the day this army formerly accepted me as their leader. For this occasion, rather than my birthday elves and leprechauns put up a gigantic show, with a tournament, a play and much more stuff I didn't bother to remember. Humans weren't left out, but they had another role. They were supposed to keep the process going. Formalities are the humans domain after all.

Shortly after the generals came and took a seat slightly in front of us, the first humans came up. It seems that the preparations are done.

The guy declared:" Today will not only be the day a great king, no. Today will not only be the day a mighty lord.... Thats not it either... Today will not only be the day a true friend claims his throne, but this is also said friends birthday. He treats everyone equally, no matter what species. No matter what rank. And like a true leader, he counts himself into our bunch aswell! This is why this won't be a classy marathon of plays and tournaments, but a true fest. Nothing less is becoming of a person like this one. Let the fest begin, for a journey we will all conquer together!"

My urge to cough got bigger the longer the speech went. Who is able to simply take praise?!

L:" Guess it is our turn now, folks! We already showed Cecil our songs, our kind of festivals. For the sake of our union, why don't we show it to everyone here." He claps:" Music, please"

And with that, the leprechaun music began. Well timed, rythmic foot steps - bass heavy voices forming a unit and most importantly: The feeling to be pulled in. More and more people of the other species began to sing along, began to stomp their feet. The song was one I didn't know, but the story sounded really familiar. How shouldn't it, it was mine.

The song was about ten minutes long, around the half passed as the earth seemed to be joining us aswell. Stomps echoed for longer, the earth vibrated. Through all that, an elven voice enhanced by sonic magic was heard. R:" Elves, show what we got, too!"

Ethereal music began to mix in, instruments like flute and violin joined. The elven tenor was a heavy contrast to the leprechauns, the sound was still far from forming a unit - the contrast was too far. Earth and grass around us were not in sync, even though both enhanced our song.

Christian was the next voice to call something out:" Humans, go!"

Slowly fading in, human instruments like guitars, drums and a range of human voices joined - a single tone was not to be found. From the outside, this might seem really overloaded. And admittedly, it might was. But the flimmering in earth, grass and air were steady - the athmosphere warm. I decided to join in too.

After a long while, the song slowly ended. With all the sounds gone, only the warm feeling remained. Surprisingly, it already went dark.

Ce:" Ok guys, if the demons didn't hear this declaration of war, they will tomorrow. Sleep well and be prepared. If this goes well, the first step to a better land is taken."
