The Blade Of God

Welcome to the world where Gods exist, and where humans meet their end. In this world filled with magic and Gods exist the power of half Gods, or nisf daw—humans given names by Gods to become their future successors. These half God and half humans chose their own path, whether said path is to be villainess or righteous, a “hero,” or a “villain.” However, in this tale, there are no true “heroes” or “villains;” there are only victims or victors. A destined young girl—19-year-old Zayn—pulls out the legendary sword Excalibur and becomes the nisf daw— the chosen successor— of the King of Gods himself, changing the lives of herself and her best friends forever. As Zayn explores this new world she is forced into and the reason for her existence, she bonds closer with new friends and allies, faces strong foes, and explores love, something the strongest woman in the world never knew she’d ever get the chance to experience.

I Can See Through You (Slash III)

Zayn sits in the vast training field, looking at the rising sun with distant eyes.

She remineces her home just a bit.

She thinks about her mother, her beautiful sister, her brothers, her bosterous father. She thinks about memories of her family sitting at a large dinner table with large plates of the finest roast turkey and steamed vegetables and butter rolls. She thinks about her favorite dessert--a strawberry custard with tingles of lemon--and she thinks about all the small cups of tea that would make her small belly warm.

She thinks about her family, she thinks about the castle she grew up in; she thinks about war.

"Up early again?" A voice from behind Zayn said. Zayn turns around to Jeremiah with a hand on his hip and his usual expression calm and a secret, unknown to what he's truly feeling.

"Yeah...yeah something like that." Zayn said, moving her gaze from Jeremiah back to the sunrise. There isn't much talk after this, that is, until Jeremiah silently sits down besides Zayn and watches the sun rise. Zayn turns around, gazing upon Jeremiah as he watches the sun, before Zayn keeps her head low, watching smalls ants crowd around her feet.

"The sun reminds me of a lot of memories," Jeremiah said, "like how my family use to fly in the sun and show me their wings."

Zayn turns her head, watching as Jeremiah silently keeps his eyes ahead.

"That sounds like so much fun." Zayn said. "Do you all still go out to fly together?"

Jeremiah doesn't respond, he only silently stands up and offer Zayn his hand, which she takes.

"When you look at that dummy," Jeremiah said, pointing towards the dummy he often switches out for their training meet-ups. Either Zayn full destroys the dummy or everything around the dummy, so depending on how the training goes is when they'll be a new dummy. "No, let me reconsider my speech."

Jeremiah stills in a few minutes of silence before he opens his mouth again. "When you use your strength on that dummy," Jeremiah asked, "what do you think about?"

Zayn doesn't respond right away. She silently stares at the dummy before she responds.

"I think--'holy gods, I have to do this--I have to--or Jeremian is going to be upset, and I'll never be able to aim for the head because I can't control my strength, and-."

"You are wrong, Zayn," Jeremiah said, "the reason you aren't able to aim for what you want is because you doubt you'll ever get there-."

"Will I?" Zayn asked, her voice laced with frustration, "I-I've never been able to control this stupid strength, and now I have a whole deadline to at least get myself a bit together before I meet with some of the most powerful Gods and honestly I'll definitely mess up because-."

"Zayn." Jeremiah said, placing a delicate hand on her metallic shoulder. "We've have time. You-understand that we will do this--I will help--and we will do this together."

Jeremiah lifts his hand from her shoulder and nods his head to the dummy.

"However," Jeremiah said. "You need to clear your mind. The more you think is the more your emotions will consume you, and that will harm the way you can control your strength."

Zayn gulps, nodding her head and nervously playing with her fingers.

"I-I'm ready to try again, Captain." Zayn said. Jeremiah offers a small smile, nodding his head as he watches Zayn ready her stance. "The goal is to knock off its head, right?"

...

"How'd training go, Ms. Hero?" It's Amur who skips to a slightly deflated Zayn, walking beside her as Amur, Chase, and Zayn head towards the indoor training grounds for a hour of sparring.

"Well, it went." Zayn said, sagging her shoulders. "I ended up destroying the dummy-."

"You got the head?!" Amur chirps, on her tippy toes her excitement.

"Not even close," Zayn said, clearly sulking, "I destroyed almost everything but the head...but Captain still said I did a good job, so I guess there's hope."

"Hey, at least it wasn't another mountain!" Amur said, shrugging. "That would be like reaaaaally bad!"

"Those can be so expensive," Chase said, pondering in thought, "Black Fawne's bill nowadays has to be huge."

Zayn opens her mouth to speak, especially after Amur nudges Chase's side with a small, yet very pointy elbow, but she stops, hearing small voices from far away. Zayn looks up, high above to one of Black Fawn's tallest buildings to spot something--someone-- with a dark hoodie and bright eyes, briefly watching her. Zayn, confused and heavily shocked, taps Amur and Chase's shoulder to have them follow where the person once was, but the person is gone, evaporated into nothingness as like they were never there.

"Zayn?" Amur asked, confusedly following Zayn's eyes.

"N-nothing," Zayn said, swallowing hard, "let's get to training."

...

Chaos is everything, but chaos never feels like enough.

The woman--in her frost home--breathes, the heavy layers of coldness and frost infiltrating her breath as she breathes out. Her face, from years of lacking to upkeep her appearance, is covered in dark black bangs, hiding her electric blue eyes from the place she calls home.

She only covers herself in a thin grey blanket as she watches the ice from her fingertips cover her world in another deep layer. She's lived like this for years, enjoying the way the simple touch of her fingers or the simple huff of her breath led to her own home's metamorphosis.

There are sounds of heavy steps climbing the large cliff she resides on to slowly retreat to a stop. The woman turns her head, relieving a beautiful blue crystal-colored eye peaking from her bangs.

"Seems like you've found your way," the woman said, smiling at her visitor. "I guess you don't mind barging in on someone trying to rest. How chivalrous of you."

"I am not knight," the stranger said, "I do not follow such codes."

"Yet you are suppose to serve someone holy," the woman said, "but I will let you be comfortable in your falsehood."

"I didn't come here to be chastise, Vivic." The stranger said, their faces covered by a black hood, and their body covered by a tight, black suit and foot by chunky, dark boots, "I came here to update you."

"Is it ready?" The woman--Vivic said, smiling wide, "are they finally ready?"

"Everything seems to be set," the stranger said, "we will move when you say."

"Then let's fucking rumble," Vivic said, laughing bright, "tell them to start having fun for mommy."
