Saving A Life

Today was the first day of high school, and Hito was pretty nervous, it wasn't usually for him to be, after all, he'll meet a lot of people, mostly strangers that some, hopefully, would be his friends.

Due to his previous reputation, well bad reputation in middle school, he doesn't have plenty of friends, he could probably count on one hand how many friends he has.

Anyway, because of his bad reputation, most people tend to avoid him, and to this day he regrets doing what he did.

It was so embarrassing if he thought about it.

Looking at himself in the mirror, properly tying his tie, he turned around to see if there was anything wrong, seeing that there wasn't. He nodded in satisfaction.

He had to be cautious of his surroundings because he might screw up and it would be the last thing that he wanted to do.

This was his chance to create a better reputation for himself, a new start.

He went downstairs and saw Hitomi putting dishes on the table, she turned around and saw him, and she then nodded in satisfaction.

"You look good in that uniform Onii-chan, it increases your charm even for a bit!" She said with a grin.

However, to Hito he wasn't sure what to say hearing her last words, it was a compliment but at the same time, it's an insult, truly a sneaky attack that he couldn't even get mad at.

'Increase your charms for a bit' Damn, he knew he was plain, but that's just a low blow even for her.

With a strained smile, he replied. "T-thank you Hitomi."

"No problem!" Hitomi's grin spreads even wider, then her attention shifts toward Lumine.

"What do you think of his new outfit Lumine-chan?!" 

Now, that got his attention, depending on her comment, he may or may not take psychological damage that was far stronger than Hitomi's backhanded compliment.

"He looks great." Lumine smiled at him.

At that moment, in his imagination, Lumine suddenly gained a pair of angelic wings behind her back.

He almost cried, but he stopped himself. A man cannot cry, he couldn't help but look away from Lumine's direction.

"Ho, ho see that?! Lumine-chan likes your school outfit!" Hitomi let out an excited shout.

"Y-yeah, thanks for the vote of confidence." He managed to let out some words, thankfully.

"It is not a problem, I am merely telling the truth." Lumine once again managed to pierce the deepest part of his heart.

She's a very beautiful girl, and it automatically made a critical damage in his poor heart, not to mention that she's his crush, the damage went over the roof!

He couldn't stop himself from blushing like a hormonal teenage high school boy! 

Oh, wait he's a hormonal teenage high school boy, to begin with!

"Hehe, hear that Onii-chan? Did that make you happy?" Hitomi's grin spreads even wider.

Hito couldn't help but scream internally, his sister is making things worse for him damn her!

But at the same time, he couldn't really deny her words as he is indeed happy with Lumine's pure undisguised compliment, unlike Hitomi whose compliment is backhanded.

"A-anyway! I'm going to be late if we continue this conversation, I need to eat breakfast now." Hito immediately changed the topic because he didn't want to blush more!

To think a single compliment from a girl could make him happy, it was like at that tim-

He suddenly clenched his heart with a wince on his face.

Hitomi noticed this strange action of her brother she couldn't help but say with a concerned tone. "Onii-chan are you okay?"

Hito quickly snapped back from reality and replied. "Y-yeah, I'm fine don't worry…"

Then his eyes wandered around and saw Lumine's concerned expression, he…didn't want to see her like that, he forced a smile and said. "I'm fine Lumine…just remembering an embarrassing past."

Hearing that Hitomi couldn't help but cringe as she probably realized what he was talking about, however, it wasn't the same for Lumine who had no idea, she just nodded and smiled at him a little.

Then after that, Hitomi didn't bring back the topic and the three of them ate breakfast in silence.

And after breakfast, it was finally time for him to leave, but before he did, he spoke. "I'll be going now, see you, girls, later."

"Take care Onii-chan!" Hitomi replied with a smile, but it wasn't as bright as usual.

"Take care…Hito." Lumine flashed him with a beautiful smile.

Ah…

How beautiful her smile is.

Hito returned a genuine smile at her, and after that he left the house, leaving Lumine and Hitomi alone.

"Well, I should probably prepare myself. Today is the first day of my 3rd year in middle school after all." Hitomi said with a sigh.

"Mhm." Lumine nodded, unlike most people think of her, she isn't exactly clueless about modern things, after all, she went to a more advanced world before she lost her 'wings'.

So she knew the concept of schooling.

Hito was currently on way to his new school, since it wasn't that far away from his parent's house, so he decided to just walk.

Still, he couldn't believe he actually passed the examination at his current school, it is an elite high school that only those who have a smarter brain could attend.

Itan Private High School.

It is most likely a fluke that he even passed the exam, and he genuinely believes so, he knew that he was academically average.

So it is strange that he managed to pass the examination of an advanced elite high school.

While he did study hard for the exam, he wasn't really expecting to pass at his first choice of high school, of course, he had a second choice.

But he was so sure that he'd end up in his second choice of school, but he ended up in his first choice.

It was due to luck that he managed to pass that's all, but honestly he was grateful for whatever God of Luck, who helped him pass the exam.

And he sure would do his best not to fail in this school, this was a chance to make his resume look good in the future.

Suddenly Hito stopped his movement as he saw the red light above. "That was clos-"

However, his sentence was cut off as saw a girl with dusty pinkish brown wavy hair walking toward the street crosswalk even though the traffic light was red.

The worst thing is that there's a black sedan incoming at a high speed, if he won't do anything about this the girl would no doubt get hit by the black sedan.

Hito at his core was a good person, and without hesitation, he grabbed the girl's arm before the black sedan could hit her.

Normally he wouldn't have the guts to do something like this, however, he cared a little at the moment as someone's life was on the line, and he couldn't care less about what others saw in him.

To him this was an act of saving someone, consequences be damned he'll worry about them later.

Ziiiiiiinnnnnnnngggg~!

The black sedan had already passed them, thankfully he managed to take her away from the crosswalk before the car could hit her.

"That was so close…! Hey are you-" Hito couldn't finish his sentence as he only realized that he was hugging a girl!

Not only that, he could feel her boobs pressing his chest!

"Ack-" Immediately he moved away from the girl and started apologizing.

"I-i'm sorry I didn't mean to hug you without permission!" He bowed slightly at the girl in front of him.

A minute later, he realized that the girl he saved wasn't talking; he stopped bowing and saw that she was making weird gestures.

"Uhmmm….a-are you, okay miss?" He asked hesitantly.

The girl's eyes widened in realization, and quickly she took a note and a pen from her backpack and started writing.

( It's okay! You don't have to apologize you saved my life because of it, I should be the one who is thankful! )

He wasn't sure why she was writing her words rather than saying them, but he wasn't going to question it, she had her reasons it would be rude to ask, especially since both of them are complete strangers.

"O-oh that's a relief…" He touched his chest and let out a sigh of relief.

However, the girl only blinked at his words, as if not understanding what he just said, no way it was probably just his imagination…

But…why does his special ability 'reading the atmosphere' think that she truly didn't hear what he said.

However, a moment later, he got his answer.

The pink-haired girl started scrabbling in her notebook.

( Sorry if you find it weird, but I'm deaf I can't hear what you said. )

Oh…

Ohhh…!

That's why she didn't respond to his words!

Suddenly he felt embarrassed for thinking that she was ignoring him!

"Ha..hah…I see.." Then he saw her handing her notebook to him.

He quickly understood her intention and started writing.

He handed the notebook to her and she shook her head and replied.

( It is a big deal, you saved me so allow me to give you a proper thank you for it, also I'm Shouko Nishimiya, may I know my savior's name? )

He took the notebook that she handed to him once more and wrote.

( Hitohito Tadano, that's my name. )
